Samuel woke up with a gasp in the middle of the night. He slowly took deep breaths. He looked to his left to see Nancy sleeping like a baby. She wouldn't wake up even if he shouted. He smiled before fixing her hair. He carefully slipped out of the bed, leaving the room to drink water. Nancy always gulped the water jug on their nightstand. If there were two jugs, Nancy would gobble those before bed.
Samuel walked toward the kitchen counter and poured himself a glass of water. He wondered why he woke up like that. He hadn't had a nightmare. He wasn't even sure if he dreamt or not. He had some idea that he had seen something, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
After drinking water, he felt calmer. But there was a strange feeling lingering in his heart. Something bad was going to happen. He could tell. He shook off all the unnecessary feelings and went back to bed. Thoughts were long and nerve-wracking. He didn't want to deal with them today.
