"Grant me the permission to die, and I'll grant you the permission to cry," Bradley suggested politely and proudly as if he knew Samuel would make a favorable decision.
"Why do you want to die so bad?" Samuel asked as he chuckled.
"Why do you wanna cry so bad?" Bradley posed a counter-question.
Samuel raised his eyebrows in confusion. He didn't understand why Bradley said such a thing when Samuel had the calmest expression on his face.
"Tell me," Bradley asked, grunting as he supported himself with his elbow to get up a little. "When was the last time you cried?"
Such a hard thing to recall it was. Samuel remembered crying with Private Joshua's wife, Emilia when he had first met her. But he also remembered how those tears had stayed like a regret in his heart because the fact that his superior had told him never to cry without his permission remained like a principle in his soul.
