If a knitted sweater would unweave painfully slowly, leaving each curl of the knit printed on the wool, only then Samuel's disappearing breaths could be explained. 

Nancy rubbed on his back slowly while seated with him on the ground, hugging him, "It's alright. T-Take deep breaths and calm down." She panicked herself as she tried to comfort him. 

His head was resting on her shoulder, and his breaths were only becoming heavier and heavier. Nancy was already confused as it was, and Samuel's worsening condition wasn't making it any better. 

"It's alright, calm down." She continued to comfort him, hoping he would feel better.

{Probability of survival: 100%.} 

Nancy felt a gush of relief when her system cleared everything up for a split second before she stopped hearing or feeling Samuel's rapid breaths.
