For a second the administration app showed weak signals early in the morning.
"Did you find her?" Daniel asked.
"M-Moscow," Samuel said as he showed his phone to Daniel when it suddenly lost signal.
Samuel didn't waste a second. He didn't want to.
They hadn't told Roth about it because he tends to get worked up because of such news.
So, Samuel went straight to the airport to save as much time as he could.
Daniel accompanied him for the time being.
Samuel quickly went to the front office to ask for tickets. He placed a badge on the counter as he panted.
"Fastest flight to Moscow?" He asked the receptionist.
The receptionist looked at his badge and stood up.
"Sir, the fastest flight shall take off today around 6 pm. I advise you to take off separately if you're in a hurry. The military quarters have a flight around 12 pm, 3 hours from now." He said swiftly.
"No, I will take the 6 pm one. Get me the tickets." Samuel replied.
Daniel stared at him in confusion.
"The only person who could get me noon tickets is General Bradley, Uncle," Samuel explained as he looked down in guilt. "If you wish, I shall go to him and ask for his favor." He added.
"What are you talking about? You don't need to go that far for my daughter." Daniel said in somewhat sorrow.
"I do not mind selling myself to the military for Nancy, Uncle. Just order me, and I shall get the 12 pm tickets." Samuel uttered in almost a whisper as he said something he never wished to say.
"I can't. You can't either. You can't go back to that hell!" Daniel sat down as he was confused.
"I am sorry. Had it not been my carelessness, we would never have to think about something like that." Samuel said, sitting beside him. "I shall drop you home. I will go alone." He added.
Daniel couldn't disagree with Samuel, so they just drove home. Samuel went back to his home and packed the essentials.
He opened a casket, pulling his handgun out of there. He sighed. He never wanted to hold it again. Even if it was just a revolver, it gave him the same feeling.
However, he didn't want his feelings knocking at the door.
He quickly grabbed some medicines from the first aid kit and threw a bunch into his hand.
He stared at them. 'Samuel, medicines will make you feel better. Trust me.' He remembered the words of a therapist he used to see.
He shook his head as he threw the medicines in the bin. He was ready to take off. He just had to wait a little longer.
When Nancy regained consciousness, she found herself in an entirely different world. She was tied to a white bed as if in a hospital.
She raised her head a bit to look around. It was a lab. All the lights were turned off, so she couldn't make out much.
Both her arms were tied down to the bed by a wide belt covering not only her arms but her upper abdomen as well.
She heard footsteps closing in on her. Her pulse rose as she panicked.
"Hey now," Sebastian said lightly. "Calm down, will you?" He added as he took an injection from the table and came towards Nancy.
Nancy tried to break free from the grip of the ties, but Sebastian knew how to work. He stabbed the injection into her neck. She gasped as she tried to move away but failed to do so.
"You don't understand your purpose. If I were you, I'd be patient and quiet." Sebastian said as he grabbed a tube with a needle-like end, which he injected into either side of Nancy's forehead. The pain made her grunt, but she lost the energy to even murmur soon after
"Why are you d-doing this to me?" She asked slowly as her energy depleted.
"You should be happy. You're going to help someone." He said as he traced his hand over a photo frame on the wall next to the bed. It was a little boy. Roughly 8-9 years old, stuck in a black and white film.
"Who? W- Who is that?" Nancy asked. Her vision blurred, making it hard to see.
"Someone you will save," Sebastian said with a grim expression before sitting down to examine her.
The tubes not only monitored her but sucked her blood away as well. Drop by drop, her blood fell into the flask at the other end of the tubes.
"What happened to him?" Nancy didn't pay attention. She just wanted to know why she had to be there.
"Something even I can't explain," Sebastian muttered. "It's all an oblivion, Nancy. If you think you're the most miserable one alive, then try looking at the people around you. We all have problems. We all have dilemmas. Do you think I want to do this to you? No!"
Nancy could tell he was trying to brainwash her. She was at least smart enough to tell that much.
"That's why I'm examining you. So, if I take the chip out, you don't go into a vegetative state. You know what I mean. I'm sure you do." Sebastian explained further.
Nancy couldn't understand.
"Why do you think your parents agreed to insert something like a chip inside you? Of course, because they wanted to save you. That's all I want as well." He said to make her understand. "I just want to save someone dear to me."
Nancy eyed the picture from the corner of her eye, though it was hard to see.
It was a black and white film. What era was this guy living in?
"If that's what you wanted.." Nancy coughed out of the excruciating pain the tubes gave her. "Why didn't you… ask Roth to get you the chip separately. Roth likes saving people."
Sebastian grinned partially.
"Our ways differ." He stared at her monitor. "He would just want to save him. But I want more than that. Much. Much. More."
Alright. If that wasn't creepy, then she didn't know what was.
The pain dwelled upon her faster than her curiosity.
"His partial imm-... Actually. Just go to sleep, Nancy." Sebastian muttered.
"Who is he anyway?!" She grunted in the pain. Her eyes were slowly losing focus. "I bet you made this up!"
He scoffed. He turned around and walked towards Nancy.
"You know him actually…" He said with a slight grin.
"…David?" Nancy suspected him as he was allegedly close to Sebastian.
He scoffed yet again and left her alone. She took the chance and struggled to loosen the grip of her ties. 'Calm down, Nancy. You're smart now, think!' She whispered to herself and tried to look around.
'How long have I been unconscious?!'
It soon became painful to move due to the tubes, but she had no choice. She saw a remote on the bed around her feet.
Since her feet were free, she kicked the remote. She was able to press a button. The bed rose slowly, allowing her feet easier access to the belt.
She bent as much as possible to open the belt using her feet.
After an hour of endless trials, she finally managed to loosen the belt. She felt dizzy, but she tried her best to stand up.
She plucked the tubes out only to feel nauseous and even dizzier. She took heavy breaths before trying to walk. She took a step at a time, supporting her body with the work-shelves.
The pain grew and grew, but she had to move no matter what.
She came across a morgue refrigerating system. It felt creepy, but she felt like she had to view it. She held the handle and twisted it open, pulling the body tray out slightly.
She saw a body inside so she quickly closed it back and decided to run away.
She didn't buy his story. She knew he needed her for some sort of success as Samuel had suspected. He wanted to save someone?! What a joke!
She quickly made her way to the door she saw him leaving through. She opened it to find a hallway. She shook her head towards the right and the left.
All she could see was countless rooms and rooms. She took the right as a gamble. She kept on walking in the bright, well-lit hallways until she found a door at the end of the hallway.
She quickly opened it to reveal the road, seemingly, a highway. 'Imagine having a lab in the middle of a highway surrounded by forests.' Even the thoughts creeped her out.
She started to walk away despite her dizziness when her head suddenly rang, causing her to sit down. She grabbed her head in her hands as it pinched.
There was no time to waste, but the pain made it hard for her to walk.
"Running away?" She heard Sebastian from behind.
