Synopsis

Chapter 1 - A new life

"Hurry! To the emergency room!"

"Clear the way!"

"All personnel to your stations! NOW!"

Mountains of corpses. Buildings engulfed in flames. Oceans covered with the color of blood. The once blue sky now covered with the black smoke of despair. Wailing survivors, pleading for help.

After the world war three, most of the population in the world died. Bullets that rained down. Bombs exploding. Hunger that left everyone miserable. Thirst that made people unable to talk to death.

To survive in this world you need to be born from a wealthy family while having your own worth. If not, then they will just abandoned you without batting an eye.

"Beep. Beep. Beep"

There I lay down on the bed. Doctors from the resistance were desperate trying to save me. Because they know my worth.

It was poisoned. I poisoned myself because I am tired, tired of this world that does not have any more hope.

I've tried countless times but all the experiments failed. My body can no longer move due to age.

No.

It is better for it to fail. If the world goes back to how it was the same thing will only happen again.

Greed and envy.

Things wouldn't have ended this way if they were only content with what they have.

Some would be happy for a glass of water or for a single loaf of bread. So why must they want things that they will never use? Why buy food that they will never eat? Why kill people who never commuted any crime?

This world is utter hell.

I felt empty.

I felt conscious even though I knew better than anyone else that I have died already.

Is this what it feels like to be in a coma perhaps?

Is this heaven?

As if. There's no way a sinner like me would end up in a place like heaven.

I've live my life, though busy with work to create a plant that will survive the radiation and chemicals in the land, I was able to eat whenever and wherever I wanted to.

I was the smartest one among my peers so they treated me as best as they can.

Someone like me who have live such a life in world where people are dying would make anyone a sinner, is what I believe.

...

A white place.

My eyes opened by themselves and I was there in a place where as if it was an endless space. Everything was pure white.

I stood up.

How? The poison I drank was a special one that I personally made. Though the effects of the poison were diminish by the all purpose vaccine they injected me, it was enough to give anyone a painless death.

"Hello"

I turned around and saw a figure. The voice was weird. It was neither a male nor a female's voice.

Though the figure was close I can't see anything more. It resembled a human's figure.

"Are you.. the grim reaper by any chance?" I ask.

My words didn't make any sense but the fact that I'm in a place like this makes no sense at all.

The figure laugh gently.

"No. I am God"

God?

Tears started to form and fell down my cheek. I wasn't able to stop myself.

"I have a question"

"Go ahead"

"Why... why would you let your creation suffer? If you are God, why let your creation covet something to the point that it would lead to their demise?"

"Because I've given everything that I am in no place to interfere"

"...Why?

"Because it was purely made by their own will"

I snapped.

"Then what about the innocent who never wanted to live such a life?! What about the newborns that died due to their parents' selfishness?! People were tortured for fun! And it's all because it was by their own will?! RIDICULOUS!!!"

Though I do not believe in god I was furious to the figure who claims itself to be god.

I had no one to vent out my anger so that may have been the reason as to why I bursted in anger.

I usually control my emotions well so how come I can't right now?

"I see that your soul is pure"

"What does that have to do with what I've said"

"Allow me to give you another life. I don't do this much but seeing that your soul is pure white, something that doesn't naturally occur even in extreme rare events appeared. I'll give you another life. Would that suffice?"

"That doesn't change the fact that so many have suffered"

"Then work hard so that no more people would die"

A new life. I do want to live another life. A life where I can see a blue sky, not created by technology but a natural one. Greenery that once covered the world. And children playing without care of time.

"I do want to live but I can't"

"Why not?"

"I, I feel guilty that I can live again. But you said that you will give me a new life because of my soul. What about the ones that died earlier than me? Those who didn't even knew how to talk or walk due to how young they were?"

"They are living somewhere else. A better place. I give judgement to those who deserved it. And I believe that giving you a new life in world that you want is fitting verdict for a pure soul such as yourself"

"You say that they are living a wonderful life, right?"

"Yes"

I fell on my knees. I was genuinely happy for the second time. Having told that those innocent souls are in a wonderful place eases my tired heart.

I stood up firmly.

"You say that you are God and that you will give me a new life"

"Yes I did"

"I want to live in world free from technology. A world where there are countless plants and animals around so that I can enjoy the fresh air of nature"

"You desire to live in a world free from technology while enjoying the fresh air of nature?"

"Yes"

"You do know that war will happen regardless of the world you are in"

"Yes"

"Then, if you can complete the mission that I will give you I promise you that, without a doubt, you will live a wonderful life"

"I will. Thank you"

"Once you open your eyes, you will be nearby a house with necessary commodities. And you will be a fifteen year old girl. Live your life how you want it to be"

A bright light flashed from the figure.

It was blinding.

Soon after I opened my eyes again I saw a blue sky. I hear birds that were chirping from the trees. There was river nearby, I can hear the water flowing so naturally.

I look at my hands.

Their small!

I stood up and went to the river and saw my reflection on the clear water.

I really am in my teens. So that figure that I talk to was god, huh.

I went inside the house that 'God' gave me. I took look around the house. It was a pretty normal house for a medieval era.

A well built house in a nearby river, how thoughtful.

...

Five years passed by. I learned so many things within that time.

The house was inside a safe forest which is near a village. The village itself was also near a city so everything was okay. There was food in the market that everyone can eat. Cheerful children that are playing.

The first year that I was here was my hardest time in my life, including the years I've spent on my previous life.

There were books in the basement with different knowledge within. Five books that were placed on the table were the language of the five kingdoms. The books on the shelves were also placed based on their uses. How to cook. Economics. History of this world. Etc.

Since I had a hard time on communicating with others I stuck with hunting small animals in the forest and using edible plants nearby.

Also, in this world, in summary, only men can work.

To be more precise, only men are allowed to occupy a high position within society. Women are not allowed to defy what men says and will always be beneath them.

A common discrimination for a medieval era.

Additionally, this world seems to have one of those where people have powers.

In this world people with unnatural abilities are called 'ability users and are divided into three general category.

Druids are those who can borrow the power of angels. I don't really believe in them but I guess I have to since I started believing in God ever since I returned into being a teenager.

Shamans are those who can use the power of spirits.

Lastly, witches and wizards are those who can summon a demon.

When someone have two different powers they are called mages.

And on extremely rare occasions when someone have all three, they are regarded as sorcerers. It is said that only one sorcerer is born ever century.

To begin with, it is already set in stone whether you can use powers or not after being born. Not to mention the probability of being a shaman, druid, witch/wizard is 1/1,000. A mage is 1/10,000.

I don't mind not having any since I only need my brain to survive.

Oddly, I feel like this is familiar to me. I don't know why though. Like something you can't quite put but at the same time something that you've already experienced. A sort of deja vu.

Though it has been five years already I have never received anything about the mission that God talked about nor any hints regarding as to what it was.

Knock, knock.

"A silver spoon is something that is not supposed to be envied but something that is to be earned"

After saying the secret code I opened the door after disabling the traps that I've made.

"Come in"

"Will do!"

He entered and sat on the chair.

"How did things go, Jerome?"

"As you said there were things that were plundered by the viscount. Things are currently being put into motion just as what you plan"

"So everything is going smoothly, huh"

"You never made a mistake. Have some confidence"

For the past five years I din't just sat down and obeyed their nonsensical laws about women being inferior to men.

Due to a fateful encounter four years ago Jerome and his party were injured by bandits and fled into the forest.

Since there was a village nearby it made sense why they would enter the forest to shake off the bandits that were chasing them.

After helping them they started to work for me, voluntarily while they do their own jobs as adventurers. Though they do earn money from time to time.

Finding the weak points of those who dare to exploit their status to the poor was our objective since they too know what it means to be under an oppressor.

Little by little many more people came under me and so my house became the headquarters for an information guild, which is unregistered.

Simply put, we are vigilantes fighting for justice.

The funds we used for our tasks comes from the medicine that Mark and his men sells to a merchant. The medicine are made by me and they sell it.

Since not many people can pay the temple for healing using powers the medicine became a hit and was high in demand making things go well on our side financially.

After obtaining so much information I still can't get rid of the feeling that all of this are familiar to me. It's as if I've been here before.

"Hey"

"What?"

"You've been dozing off for a moment. You alright"

"Yeah, yeah. Speaking of being alright, what about Mika? Is she doing well?"

"Yeah. Thanks to your medicine she can walk properly now. I'm really thankful about that"

Knock, knock, knock.

The two of us were on alert. Jerome quickly unsheathed his blade and was became wary.

"The seventh prince of the kingdom of Dilirea, Alexander Dilirea has come to meet the individual named Marie Anne"

What? As in Alexander Dilirea from the novel ?

WHAT?!?!?!
