Chapter 38 - Chapter 38 : Unleashing the Darkness

The scene shifted back to the real world. Erza, in her Heaven's Wheel Armor, charged forward. Swords swirled around her. She sent them flying toward Aurelius, each blade aiming to pierce him.

But Aurelius dodged every sword with ease, his movements fluid and almost casual. Every strike that came within inches of him was avoided as if he could anticipate Erza's every move.

"Is that all you've got, Erza?" Aurelius, or rather, Malpas taunted, his voice filled with mockery as he stepped aside from another oncoming blade. "I thought the great Titania would be a bit more challenging."

Her swords passed by, missing by mere inches. Undeterred, Erza called her swords back, shifting their angles mid-flight to close in on Malphas from all sides. She was relentless, each attack faster than the last, but Malphas was always a step ahead.

"You call this a fight?" he taunted again, his tone still light and mocking as he slipped between two swords and narrowly avoided another.

Erza's frustration grew, but she refused to show it. She tightened her grip on her sword, her gaze never leaving him. Each of her attacks became more forceful, but she could feel something was off. His movements—too fast, too precise—were starting to raise a suspicion. Was it possible he was reading her every move?

As the battle raged on, her sharp eyes caught a strange detail. For a split second, she noticed Aurelius's left eye. It wasn't just the dark hue that set it apart—it was how it seemed to flicker, like it was registering her every attack, almost as if it could predict the direction of each strike before it landed. It was subtle, almost unnoticeable, but Erza couldn't shake the feeling that something was different about it.

Her sword swung again, this time from a lower angle, but once again, Aurelius sidestepped it with ease. It was then she noticed the movement again. That slight shift of his eye, almost imperceptible, followed her sword's trajectory.

Before she could process it, a sudden burst of magic surged through the air, striking from the distance. A beam of pure energy shot toward Aurelius, fast and focused, locking onto his exposed side.

But in that same moment, Aurelius's left eye flickered again, and he instinctively leaped into the air, his body twisting, dodging the blast with mere inches to spare. The energy beam tore through the space where he had been just moments before.

From the shadows, Mystogan's voice rang out, clear and commanding. "Now! Attack!"

Erza, and the others didn't hesitate. They unleashed their attacks in perfect synchronization, each one aimed at the still-hovering Aurelius.

Sagittarius fired a barrage of arrows from his celestial bow, each one whizzing through the air with deadly accuracy, filling the space around Aurelius with a storm of sharp projectiles.

Gray, not one to be left behind, created an ice bazooka from his magic and fired a concentrated blast of ice toward Aurelius. The beam of frozen energy streaked toward him, its deadly cold intent clear.

As the barrage of attacks neared him, an unspoken thought seemed to flash in everyone's minds at the same time: "This will be it."

But then, something utterly unexpected happened.

In a display of agility, Aurelius's body moved in impossible ways. While still in mid-air, he twisted and turned, dodging each and every one of the incoming attacks. The arrows passed by him, narrowly missing. The ice blast sailed right past him, as he spun to the side..

It wasn't just that he dodged. He anticipated each attack before it came, effortlessly shifting his position, his body almost like liquid, flowing through the air in ways that defied logic.

The group watched in stunned silence as Aurelius's movements continued. Not even a single attack came close to touching him.

Gray stared, slack-jawed. "There's no way… How can someone move like that in mid-air?"

Even Lucy was frozen in place, unable to comprehend what she was seeing. The reality of the situation hit her like a wave. They had thought they had him cornered.

Malphas landed lightly on the ground, a grin still plastered on his face. His movements were slow now, deliberate, as if he hadn't just avoided a series of devastating attacks. "Is that really all you've got? I thought you would be more of a challenge."

The others were speechless, struggling to process what had just happened. It wasn't just his strength or his speed—it was something else entirely.

The group, still reeling from the impossible feat, could only watch as Aurelius smirked, his eyes glinting with a mix of amusement and something darker.

"You'll have to try harder than that," he said, his voice casual, but with an edge that hinted at something far more dangerous beneath the surface.

The battle was reaching its breaking point. The air was thick with tension as Malphas stood there, his cold gaze fixed on the group. He had toyed with them enough—his expression showed no emotion, but his words made it clear.

"I've had enough fun for today," he said, his voice flat but carrying a weight that seemed to hang in the air. "It's time to end this."

He didn't spare them a second glance. He knelt down and picked up a sword from the ground. Then, a dark, crackling energy enveloped the blade.

Without warning, Malphas disappeared, his form blurring for a moment before he reappeared in front of Elfman. The speed at which he moved left Elfman no time to react. His eyes widened in shock.

"W-what?!" Elfman barely had time to raise his iron-armored arms. Malphas' blade slashed through the air.

The sound of metal cutting through flesh echoed through the air, and Elfman let out a gasp of pain. Blood splattered across the floor as the blade tore through his defense. The force of the strike sent Elfman hurtling backward, crashing into the stone floor.

"Elfman!" Mira's voice cracked as she rushed to her brother's side. Panic flooded her chest as she knelt next to him, desperately checking for any signs of life. Her thoughts raced "No! Not like this. Not again..."

Gray clenched his fists in fury, his heart pounding in his chest. "Damn it, I have to do something! I can't just let him keep cutting through us." His eyes burned with anger, but he knew rushing in would only end in failure.

Before anyone could process the attack, a barrage of arrows shot toward Aurelius. The arrows, launched by Sagittarius, came from every direction, each one aimed to hit Malphas.

But Aurelius was unfazed.

His body moved like water, fluid and graceful as he dodged each arrow, his form twisting midair as he leaped backward, narrowly avoiding the rain of arrows. He landed on the ground with barely a sound, his gaze never leaving the group.

"How is he doing that?" Erza thought, her mind racing. She had seen Aurelius move fast before, but this? It was beyond anything she'd anticipated. "We need to find a way to corner him. If we don't work together, we're finished." She thought.

Malphas' voice then broke the silence as he stood tall, his sword still crackling with dark energy. "Three down," he said, his voice dripping with mockery. "Five more to go."

Lucy's heart raced. "He's… toying with us. How are we supposed to stop him?" Her thoughts were a jumbled mess.

Meanwhile, Mira, whow as by his brother's side, spoke with her voice filled with worry and desperation. "Elfman... Get up..." But her brother didn't respond. He was in so much pain.

Mystogan, Gray, Sagittarius, and Erza all attacked together. Their attacks were coordinated, but Malphas' dodging skills remained unshaken. He was an untouchable force and the group could only struggle to keep up.

Mira couldn't move. She could only watch as her brother lay motionless on the ground, the blood staining the stone beneath him, his body broken by Aurelius' attack. Mira dropped to her knees beside him, her heart in her throat.

"Elfman… please…" she whispered, her voice trembling as she placed a hand gently on his chest. Tears began to well up in her eyes, blurring her vision. "Why couldn't I protect him? Why couldn't I do something?"

Her thoughts spiraled out of control. "I'm useless…" The words felt like a crushing weight on her chest, each one a reminder of her failures, of every moment she couldn't protect the people she loved. "I'm not strong enough… not enough to save anyone..."

A sob escaped her throat as she fought back the flood of emotions threatening to overwhelm her. But then, a faint voice reached her ears, barely above a whisper.

"Mira…"

She looked up, startled, to find Elfman's eyes barely open, his face pale but his gaze steady as he looked at her with a small, reassuring smile. His voice was weak, but it was enough to cut through the haze of despair she felt.

"Don't cry," he muttered softly. "I'm don't want to see you cry..."

Mira's heart twisted painfully, the guilt and helplessness surging within her, making her chest tighten. She felt like she couldn't breathe. "Why can't I do more?"

Her eyes flickered back to the others. "They're still fighting… but they're losing. They can't defeat him…"

Mira's gaze snapped back to Elfman, and something inside her snapped. She wasn't going to let more of her family suffer. Atleast, not without her, also doing her best.

Her hands trembled as she slowly rose to her feet, the weight of the decision settling heavily on her shoulders. "I promised myself that Lissana will be the last..."

With a deep breath, Mira looked down at her brother, her expression softening despite the fire that had ignited inside her. She whispered to him, her voice breaking, "This time... I'll protect you...."

She turned toward Aurelius, her mind set. As she walked toward him, a wave of energy rippled through the air... A dark and suffocating energy. The ground seemed to tremble beneath her feet, and the others in the battle stopped, their movements slowing as they felt it.

Mira's body was enveloped by a torrent of dark energy, swirling around her like a storm. Her aura changed, her presence becoming menacing and powerful as her transformation began.

Before anyone could fully comprehend what was happening, Mira had fully transformed into her Satan Soul form.

Her hair had changed, her eyes glowing with a fierce crimson light, and her entire being exuded an overwhelming darkness. It was a form they had seen years ago... Mira, the kind-hearted member of Fairy Tail, has not reverted back to his old self... The Demon of Fairy tail was back...

Malphas, who had been standing with his usual cocky demeanor, finally broke into a small, wicked grin, his gaze locked onto her. He couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for the sheer power she now radiated.

"Well, this is interesting," he muttered, his voice laced with amusement. "I wasn't expecting this."

Soon, the battle continued as Mira, now fully engulfed in her Satan Soul form, charged at Malphas. She raised her hand, a massive beam of dark energy shot toward him. The sheer force of the attack threatened to tear apart the battlefield. "BE GONE!"

Aurelius' eyes gleamed as he watched the dark beam close in on him. But with a swift movement, he raised the sword in his hand and slashed it through the beam, slicing it in half. The two halves of the beam then exploded, causing more dust and debris to form.

"Impressive," Malphas muttered under his breath, his expression filled with amusement. "But it's not enough."

Mira then rushed in again, launching a barrage of dark energy in a quick strikes while the other Fairy tail members also attack.. Each one of their attacks was more powerful than the last, and the ground beneath them shook with the intensity of her blows.

"Is that all you've got?" he taunted, his voice dripping with mockery as he effortlessly parried one of their strikes.

With that, Mira's anger flared, but she pressed on, summoning more power. However, despite her best efforts, she couldn't land a hit. Malphas was always just out of reach.

The battle continued to escalate, with Mira pushing herself harder and harder, but Aurelius remained seemingly untouchable. The others were still in the thick of the fight, trying to break through Aurelius' defenses, but every time they thought they had a chance, he would dodge or counter with a vicious strike of his own.

Mira, Erza, Mystogan, Gray, and Sagittarius all tried different angles, combining their attacks in a way that would overwhelm any ordinary opponent. Yet every attempt was met with Malphas' calm and calculated responses, his movements almost too quick to follow.

Just as it seemed the battle would go on without end, something shifted in the air that made everyone freeze for a brief moment.

The pressure in the air grew heavier, and the atmosphere shifted. The Fairy Tail mages, who had been struggling against Malphas' overwhelming power, suddenly felt a surge of hope. A smile spread across their faces as they sensed what was to come. They knew that help had arrived.

But for the demon, the shift was different. His calm demeanor faltered, his eyes widening in surprise as the pressure in the air pushed against him. His cocky facade cracked for the first time, replaced with a subtle panic.

Before anyone could react, a massive form suddenly burst through the broken wall, sending debris flying in all directions. It was a giant of a man, towering over them with an aura of power that rivaled... No... It was even more than Malphas' dark energy.

Makarov Dreyar, the master of Fairy Tail, had arrived.

The Fairy Tail mages, now filled with renewed strength, couldn't help but smile wider. Their master had come to end this fight, and with him, they knew victory was within reach.

Malphas, however, stood frozen in place, his eyes widening with an emotion that was nearly foreign to him... Fear. His body tensed as he stared up at the old man, who loomed over him with an imposing presence.

With a voice that boomed like thunder, Makarov spoke.

"This ends now," He declared.
