...
Finally back in his room alone Adoli actually began to sort through his thoughts going forward…
*Knock**Knock*
"Who IS IT!!!"
"Don't yell at me, idiot or you can do your own reports."
"Oh, come in, Vana."
"Who are you yelling at? I just wanted to tell you that the recruits are ready for the first phase." Although annoyed, one thing Adoli always loved about his little sister was her diligence in training. At the same time, those poor souls.
Leaving the room with Vana in tow, they both made their way through the crimson-rad portal. As they stepped through the portal closed behind them leaving nothing but a solitary seed.
…..
On the other side of the portal, all he could see was bodies strewn across the ground, broken and tattered. At the sight of this a brilliant smile came across Adolis face.
"Great from what I have been informed there are still 25 of you left. That is a lot more than I expected." The battered bodies on the ground let out a unified grunt in response.
"Lines!" Hearing the shout, all the possibly dead bodies shivered in fear while each of the official Darkwood members formed a line parallel to Prince Adoli beginning with Vana.
"Let the second round of choosing begin. I shall go first this time. Since the number of recruits is not a multiple of 6 we will select one at a time I will not select in the last round." Hearing prince Adolis words the could be dead bodies began to try and hurriedly pull themselves up from the ground.
"My first selection for the Darkwood Falcon Squad will be… Fronz West the Darkwood Gator-Knight." Hearing this name, BJ Holmes couldn't help but be disappointed. He could have sworn that his innate ability would catch the Prince's eye. The same could be said for the others including Ian.
The entire solid gelatinous mass that is Fronz West began to vibrate in glee. For alot of his life he had to rely on his family and their resources to even begin this journey. Yet, no one outside of his family ever dared to give him a chance.
Beast transformation is quite a common ability to find but Fronz was sure he could be one of the greats one day. Although none of the more prestigious institutions wanted him, the Darkwood Army is one of the best up and coming organizations with great backing even if this decision amounted to nothing but hell in the future he couldn't remove the grin from his face, as he dragged his ragged body in front of the Darkwood Prince. Before forcing himself onto one knee.
"Vana"Adoli then turned to his younger sister and Polemarch who was already wearing her Darkwood Robe. As a Polemarch, her left breast section is emblazoned with a tree with 8 branches. She looked adorable in her uniform but remembering all the horror stories of female warlords in his novels he couldn't help but fear for who she chooses. She's never chosen the easiest methods to train to say the least.
"No, you took mine. That's not fair." Immediately the mood became awkward seeing this notorious battle hardened 9 year old pouting on a training field. The prince couldn't help but sigh in pity knowing his sisters personality.
Sure enough as he looked over to the Burna triplets and Tubbs, they began to look at each other in realization before shuddering. This scene was awfully reminiscent of how the young miss acted in front of them when they first joined, no?
The carrot and the stick. The loli and the demon loli.
She then turned her head back to the new recruits acting as if she was truly debating on who to pick.
"I choose, you." She said pointing at Ian.
"You shall be the first member of the Darkwood God Legion Ian Matten the Vana's Titan."
"Since when did we have a God Legion. We don't even have enough people for a legion." Marsh Burna couldn't help but mutter before trembling as his eyes made contact with the polemarch.
Seeing this scene Adoli couldn't help but chuckle. "As we grow she will maintain the position of warlord. I'll allow it but do note by calling your group that, I expect a true legion from you in the future." If anyone else were to hear a 14 year old telling a 9 year old to bring him a legion, they would assume they were playing, before taking the fourteen year old to a mental health physician. But, in this case nobody saw anything wrong with it.
"Marsh." Calling out to his brigadier, Adoli was pretty hopeful when it came to Marsh's decision. Although Vana is his younger sister and has the greatest overall potential in the group, maybe even the continent, he was tasked with looking after her and protecting her as she grows. So it never allowed them to be very close. Yet, Marsh has always been his closest friend second only to his brother John.
When they were young the trio was touted as the demons of Aurora City. They never truly committed any crimes. Instead a more apt description of them would be the John and the Two Toddlers: Wyatt Earp edition. As the group cleaned up the entire underground in the region during the early stages of their training.
Many prayed for the pride of all the so- called criminals getting wrecked by babies in the area. Even to the point where one of the reasons crime dropped so quickly in the area at that time was due to the shame of people knowing that a kid barely walking could arrest you at any moment.
"I select BJ Holmes the Broken to be the first member of the Darkwood Spinesword Squadron." Bj jumped up from the ground before rushing in front of Marsh as if his draft stock would fall further if he were too late.
'I guess third pick is fine, I have a higher tier than almost anyone here but they still chose Ian and Fronz ahead of me. They must have something special about them. Looks like I need to work harder. Well, at least it isn't Donna.'
"Anette!"(Adoli)
"I selected Donna Tremors, the desert queen, even though we live on the forested side of the continent, to be the first member of the Darkwood BillySword. Hearing the name coming from the red haired girl in jeans, a crop top and an oversized plaid shirt underneath her robes. Some couldn't help but snicker.
As Donna headed over to her new commander she could honestly care less about the name of her squad. The Darkwood part is already influential enough she just wanted to make sure she wasn't too far behind that gloved freak Bj.
"Lance!" Hearing the shout Andrew Tubbs couldn't help but cringe ruminating over his defeat earlier. Lance simply pointed in response.
"I select Fronz West the Darkwood crocodilean maverick!!" He said with complete confidence.
…
…
…
Silence.
No one really knew what to say.
"Idiot."
"Fool."
"I wonder if this proves his brain is absent. Is it an ability?"(Adoli) Realizing his mistake after seeing that Fronz was already taken he regretted taking that quick nap, standing up. But the robes…They're so cozy, soft, and fluffy…
"I can't believe I lost to that guy." Andrew said, slamming his palm to his face.
"Yep, this is definitely a superpower. Complete lack of social awareness." Adoli was furiously scribbling in his own notepad. Trying to desperately figure if this is a real ability or not.
Seeing her older brother and the behemoth both showing their bad habits in front of company. Vana began to release her aura which frightened the soul out of Lance costing Adoli his live specimen.
"Hey what did you do that for. I am making scientific breakthroughs over here!" Adoli yelped.
"What is sci -"
*Cough*
"Lance I am afraid you haven't picked yet and please do not poach." Adli said completely ignoring others.
"Uh, yes, well then." As Lance's eyes swept across the new recruits he became slightly triggered. Seeing some of them hiding as if not wanting to get picked by him. 'It's okay we are fine with going in the second round.'
Finally his eyes rested on his target. "I have selected Fen Lockson the Unchained to be the first member of the Darkwood GlassSword Squad." As he said this a greasy grin spread across his face. Looking at his new partner in crime who had the same grin on his face.
"Andrew."
"I select Hunter Damons the Completely Manly Vixen to be the first member of the Darkwood Thunder Squad." Hunter was overjoyed with getting to go in the first round. He was normally picked last due to his ability not being battle centered, but he never gave up hope knowing how valuable he could be to a team. Although we will definitely have to get that name changed.
"Now for those who have been selected you have heard your war names and the name of your squad. You also know who your commander is. Polemarch Vana is already a decorated warrior of the State of Abe at the young age of nine. She may look cute and cuddly but no one has ever heard from the assassins sent to kill her. Not even her protectors. So you would do well to work hard Ian. As that would be very difficult to explain to your parents. Oh, I am sorry he called his superior fat and we haven't seen him in weeks, it is hard to explain to people. Trust me I know."
"The Darkwood Legion will be directly under her command and she is 4th in command in the entire Darkwood army, understood."
"Yessir!"
"God Legion." Vana mumbled under her breath.
"Then there shall be the three blades of Darkwood. Spines…Sword, uh, um, Billy…?Sword? And the uh… ah, yes, Glass sword squads, names pending, shall account for our normalized troops. If you are selected, you will be participating in almost all of the fighting."
"Finally the Darkwood Thunder Squad. Guys we have to do better with names there is no reason that Andrew should have the second most professional squad name."
"Who has the first?" (Anette)
"Me, of course. Still the Thunder squad will be responsible for all things fast. Transport, Vanguard, Scouting, etc.. Even if you are selected to a different squad please help Liutenant Colonel Tubbs whenever you can."
"Hahaha, your name reminds me of an old grumpy janitor." Lance laughed quietly whispering to Andrew.
"Yeah, and well, you are built like an old grumpy janitor!" (Andrew)
"Andrew, what did we say about talking while I am talking, dont make me come over there." Adoli swung his whole head around to confront Mr. Tubbs.
"Sorry sir." Andrew instantly snapped to attention before falling back in line while Lance remained slowly laughing to death in his own head, too afraid to also be reprimanded.
