Chapter 19 - Learning to Bleed

"DEAR SCHOLARS!!" I scream as I stand in the doorway of the library. "FOLLOW ME!!!" I order them as I walk down the stairs of the castle and into the field, the scholars behind me and the soldiers in front of me, on the field.

"WHY ARE THEY HERE?" A soldier ask me as I prepare myself to break the news.

"They are the new warriors" I admits as the soldiers wait, confusion marking their faces as I stand there. Waiting for what is to escape this man mouth next but suddenly he is interrupted by General Black.

"YOU DID NOT JUST USE MY MEN" he confuses this as I turn around to face him.

"I did not" I say, trying to spare this man the last shed of dignity he had. "But the war we face is closing in, only three week away!" I remind him as he steps closer to me.

"Then maybe by blood shed we can save the kingdom" the General lectures me as I feel a pinch in my side. Blood pooling at my side from the small dagger.

"Are you serious?" I ask the man as he stumbles back.

The bleeding finally stopping, but the stain still staining my corset.

"I NEED MEN!" I yell through my anger. "NOT FOOLS" I justify as I lead the scholars to the field dismissing the soldiers.

"ANY QUESTION?!" I yell throughout the field. "Don't try that again" I say as my eyes land on General Black, "I would hate to bury you!" My anger for the man burns in my throat as Beth hold my wrist, keeping my still as he walks off.

" I need brains, agility, speed and confidence and that will be what we will teach you in the next few weeks we have to prepare you" I explain to the scholars as I see one hand fly up. "Yes?" I ask her as she takes a deep breath.

"What about the women?" She ask me as I smile to her offended face.

"Women are one of natures most girlfriend warriors, harness that strength and you will be all." I reassure her as she nods. "The reason I dismantled the soldiers was because they only had the strength, it takes longer to teach the cavemen letter, but you?" I ask the crowd, the distinct look of mistakes on their faces. "You have the wisdom, the brains! That's more powerful than muscles" I say as they stand still, almost waiting for dismissal.

"TAKE A SWORD!" I yell as their bodies shake at my voice. "WE TRAIN NOW!" I order as they walk to the swordsman as I turn to Beth.

"Are you sure this is a your fantastic idea?" She questions me as I turn to her in a huff. "What will your king-" she ask as I stop her.

"He is not the king yet! He will be sworn in three days" I tell her as she sighs, her head hanging down.

"Their is no time for formalities in the wake of such tragedy" I hear as I pause, my smile subsiding. "You are the Queen now" he bestows upon me as I turn around to him, his mothers crown in his hands.

"What are you doing?" I ask as he smirks.

"Accept it" he murmurs under his breath as I take the crown from his hands, caressing the stones on the bejeweled crown.

"YOU ARE NOW THE QUEEN OF DURLOW" William commands as I look to his head, seeing the huge crown that I was seemingly blind to before.

"I am not your queen" I disagree, placing the crown on the floor. "Not until I defeat my mother, will I be the real Queen" I explains as I turn to the scholars. "YOU ARE DISMISSED!" I yell at their dismays as they leave and I walk to the castle, hoping to avoid this conversation all together.

"COME BACK HERE!" I hear William yell at me, his words coming out as cold and distinctive. Like a order.

"That is no way to speak to your wife" I reply to him angrily as he stabs a sword next to me, looking down at the sword I see my dress is caught in the blade.

"You should be honoured to wear this crown!" His words coming out of his mouth as a sad reflection of his insanity. Macbeth had nothing on the new king of Durlow. May the world stop at the slightest scar on his hand!

"This may surprise you" I tell him as I move closer to him, but he meets me halfway. "I hold no importance to a bejewelled accessory that wields power to those incompetent and dangerous by bloodline!" I interject his reasons. In this argument he had no ground to tell me what I should be honoured to wear or not.

As I look to him, his jaw clenched as I close in the rest of the space between us. "And if it is a sword fight you are looking for my King, you are sadly mistaken if you even have the courage to come up against me. "I warn him, " Because I will not let you win!" I tell him as I pull away from him. Angrily ripping my dress from the blade and pulling it from the soil.

"You have no heart!" The new found king says as I turn to him, sword in my hand. "You must wear the crown" he repeats as I chuckle, trying to stifle my laugh.

"I owe you nothing!" I remind him, "But you owe me everything" I clear things up as I come closer to him, sword still in my hand. As the guards eyes grow with worry as they step forward in fear of harm to their new successor.

"Don't" he stop them. "If she kills me, she shows the real nature of her kind" he states as my stomach turns at his words.

At that moment in time I wanted to kill him. This sword in my hand to be painted in his blood, his body skewered on my blade and a smile painted on my face with splatters of his blood on my face.

"You ruin another gown of mine" I warn him, the sword in my hands pointing towards his draws. "And I will castrate you myself" I promise him as I drop the sword to his side, for my people and in the name of peace I walked away. My ripped gown shorter than the rest of my dress, exposing my ankle as the breeze hit the smalls of my skin.
