Chapter 23 - Blood is Worry

As the blood from my face dropped into my palm I smirked, she held no remorse in her eyes. And guessing by how she retreated, she was almost ashamed, here was her weakness. Not blood, not innocence but pain.

"Don't William" Benjamin stands in my way as I try to push past him but he stays, centered in my way.

"I found her weakness Benjamin!" I tell him as he doesn't quiver at my admission.

"She is dangerous" he reminds me of what I already know, "Your weakness is not thinking she will spill your blood on these floors, so I beg you, stay?" Benjamin ask of me as I disobey his plea, pushing past him with all my might.

"Never mistake your place, Benjamin. Not again!" I warn him as I chase after her.

She knew what she was doing. I could care less about the general's sight, but this, this was something I could exploit of hers. Butting my ear up against her chamber door as I see her back to me.

There she stood, her long, dark hair thrown across her back as she fumbled something in her hands in front of her mirror. Her shoulders tensed, something told me she already knew.

"Gehenna" I call her name as she turns to me, her bloodied ring on her finger still.

"You!" She sighs as she glares at me.

"Yes" I reply to her, walking closer to her as she pulls back. "Your husband" I tell her as she snickers.

"By chance" she sneers, "Not by choice" she say as I bite my tongue.

"Not many people would have pitied you like I" I justify as her look turns cold.

"Your right, being married to you is punishment enough" she huffs as she looks out her balcony window.

"I thought you liked it" I says as a small smile spreads across her face as I stand next to her, turning to her as she looks to me. In the moonlight, her skin glowing.

As I lean into her, "I never did" she admits as she takes out a folded paper from her hand. "This was why I tried to convince you I did" she confesses as I sigh with my written order that I was supposed to give Benjamin.

"I didn't-" I start as she cuts me off.

"You may have everybody in this castle fooled, but your words certainly mean more than you actions to me" she spit out her words to my like a viper spitting venom. Her condescending tone relaying her message, "And I will do everything in my power to show you that I hold the power here, not you" she says coldly as she smiles.

"You do have the power" I tell her, moving closer to her as she glances at my hips.

"Then surrender" she says as I close in the space between us, cornering her against a wall, my arm above her head. Ready to give into her at any moment.

"I could say the same to you" I challenge her as I inch my way towards her lips, stopping only a few moments before ignition. "Surrender" I weakly says as she stop. In her eyes I could see no thoughts, no plan, only ignorance.

"Why would I?" She ask me, her breathing hitched at my eyes looking into hers. And that was when the bough breaks, nothing holding back. "I surrender" she quietly whispers as she clashes her lips against mine, ravishing into them like a crazed animal. My hands in her hair and hers around my neck as she wrapped her legs around me. Pushing her against the wall as she pulled me closer to her.

"Your are right" I say as I walk her to her bed, throwing down as she smiles at the soft landing. "You have all the power, I relinquish it all to you" I confess to her as she leads me back into her lips. Pushing myself up against her as her ecstasy had me consumed.

"Show me then" she whispers into my ear through a soft moan as I bite her lip.

*************

I slept. By the time my eyes open it was nothing but darkness that surrounded me accept for the moonlight and a small candle beside my bed. Then the memories hit me, what I had just done, and who.

And then I look up, finally seeing a figure by my balcony. As I look beside me and I don't see William I sigh a breath of relief.

Holding the sheet up to cover myself as I wrap it around my body and confront the figure.

"William?" I ask as I walk towards the silhouette draped in darkness. "What are you doing?" I ask him aloud as I hear no response. Instead the silhouette just turn to me, it's face unclear.

Suddenly stepping closer to me as I take a step back, grabbing the empty candle holder at my side.

"Stop right there!" I demand the shadow as it doesn't oblige and without a second thought I raise my arm with the candle holder, ready to strike as the silhouette grabs my arm and spins me around, it's warms breath on my back as I flinch. It's arms wrapped around the sheet, holding it to my frame.

"I didn't think you would be advantageous, Gehenna" the unknown darkness says as I stop fighting.

"Clairborne?" I call as he loosens his arms around my waist as I step into the moonlight, him following fast behind me. "What are you doing here?" I ask him as he sighs.

"Checking on my dearest friend" he says too enthusiastic as I cringe at the sound of his voice.

"I have a feeling" I intercept in his actions, "Your here for no good, are you?" I ask him as he smiles.

"I'm your familiar, I only have your best at heart" he reassures me as I try to shake off the bad feeling as he holds his arms out for a hug as I cower, thinking for a moment.

"You know I hate anyones embrace" I object to his hug as he laughs, looking at my appearance.

"Doesn't seem that way anymore" he snarky replies as I chuckle at his joke.

"Fine" I oblige to his offer, tucking the end of the sheet to my chest and tying it as I meet his arms, wrapping mine around him.

"So sweet" he observes as I snicker, starting to pull away as he holds me still.

"Clairborne!" I angrily shout his name as he keep my body close to his as I start to struggle.

"You have no idea how sorry I am" he whispers in my ear as I try to push away from him, but before I can I feel the piercing pain of a sharp object in my side.

"Cla…..ir…..Clai...rbor…ne?" I ask through the pain as I use the last of my strength to punch him in the neck. As he steps back and I fall to the floor. My hands yearning for a weapon around me.

"You shouldn't have done that!" He threatens as I flip on my stomach and try to inch my way forward. Feeling I hand on my leg as I kick. But Clairborne flips me on my back, straddling himself on my stomach as he hold the bloody knife in his hand. Pulling it back to his head.

"I'm so sorry, my Princess" he recounts as I wince as the knife pierced my stomach, chest and neck, while all I felt was pain the whole time until it stopped and the moon disappeared. And day was no where in sight.
