Tiffany went over to Stella and gave her a hug, "it's going to be alright in the end.
Natalie joined the hug, followed by Delia, and soon they were all embracing each other in a big group hug.
Tearing up and laughing, Jackie said, "We're too weird."
"But in the best way," squealed Stella.
"I agree, when we're not weird, we're not us," answered Gertrude.
"I'm definitely going to miss this," Tiffany said wistfully.
Natalie smiled at them and then thought about what would happen if they all went on the journey… but then maybe some of the things only royals can do, only three can go on this journey, thought Natalie.
Suddenly, a thought struck her...
What would happen if we all went?
Nothing would happen, no one will know.
"Hey, guys," Natalie said in a high-pitched but very serious tone.
Everyone stared at her, looking worried, Natalie never got nervous, unless when she gets in trouble.
"Yes?" answered Tiffany, looking at her with a question in her eyes.
Kaitlin shared a look with Tiffany, passing on a moment of understanding between them.
"So-" Natalie said, but then paused and took in another breath of air. "So, what would happen if all of us went on this journey? No one would know and isn't the more people, the easier it would be to accomplish the task?"
Jackie, Tiffany, and Kaitlin shook their heads immediately.
This is our own journey, no one else should get hurt, thought Tiffany.
While Jackie thought, this is just plain ridiculous, how could they do it?
Only Kaitlin said something aloud, "No! You can't do it!"
Stella rounded up on them, "Why can't we do it, huh?"
Jackie opened her mouth to answer but Delia started even before she did.
"Let me guess," said Delia, emphasizing her movements dramatically. She stared at Jackie, Tiffany, and Kaitlin, putting her right hand to her temple to pretend thinking. "You guys want to do this all by yourself to have all the credit." She said slowly.
"No! Of course we don't!" exploded Tiffany, her fury bursting inside of her.
Why can't they see that they wanted to complete this journey by themselves because they don't want harm to come to their friends.
Mermaid royals couldn't be killed as easily as others. They had to be stabbed with a special diamond dagger, then burned to death, to evaporate all of the water inside their bodies, in order to die. It took a long time to burn too, depending on the royal mermaid's power.
But sadly for non-royal mermaids, they could be killed no matter the way. Even though they do have more power than non-magical humans, they're still powerless against royals. Royals had powers they did not, and royal spells were more powerful too.
"Then what do you want?" muttered Delia with hurt and anger in her voice. "We don't want you guys to go on a stupid journey and end up… and end up…" Delia racked her head for a better word but none came, it was no matter however, since they already knew what she was planning to say, or hold back speaking of.
Death.
Gertrude spoke up after a long pause when no one answered Delia's question. "I have an idea, the three of them could go to the masquerade and then we can, I don't know, sneak off in the middle of it and then start our journey."
"That is a thought," began Tiffany, but Stella cut her off.
"No! Stop it, Gertrude!" roared Stella, "You guys are not going! I won't-"
Natalie held her hand up, and interrupted Stella in a calm tone, "To be honest Stella, I think that you should just shut up and chill. You are being really fucking annoying right now."
Stella flipped Natalie off and ignored her, "But-"
Kaitlin yawned, "Can we do this later? I'm getting really tired."
Stella sighed and nodded her head dejectedly.
It was past midnight.
"I agree," muttered Tiffany, she stood up stretching, and said, "I'm going off to bed, sleep wherever you like, you know I don't care."
"Goodnight," said Jackie sleepily as she curled up on the couch.
* * *
Tiffany sat at her desk in chemistry, twirling her blue mechanical pencil through her elegant fingers, Kaitlin was sitting in the row next to her and snoring lightley.
They ended up sleping around three o'clock in the morning and now they were exhausted.
I wonder how the others are, thought Tiffany sleepily.
Listening to the droning of the professor almost hummed her to sleep, suddenly the knocking of the door woke her again and she, along with everyone else, looked towards the door.
A new guy stepped in, and a few of the girls in the room immediately gasped.
He was wearing a black v-lined t shirt long dark blue jeans, and short dark brown hunting boots. His hair was jet black, in a pompadour style. He was also wearing shades but he took them off as he entered the classroom, his eyes were a startling shade of glimmering dark gold. Slung over his back was a black backpack.
Tiffany looked over at him and felt like she knew him. She suddenly saw a flash around his as his necklace caught the light, she peered closer at and saw with a shock that it was a golden chain and on it was a ring with an inscription. She realized with a jolt of surprise and fear, that he was the guy that had kidnapped her given her the invitation.
Tiffany poked Kaitlin awake and whispered to her "Hey! That is the guy, that gave me the invitation!"
Kaitlin looked around, blinking her eyes blearily, as she started registering Tiffany's words, she sat up hurriedly and said in reply, "Oh My God! That's him?"
Tiffany nodded.
"He's hot," Kaitlin said dreamily, "Do you think he's with the Evil Enchantress?"
"He must be," muttered Tiffany, eyeing him closely.
"Class," their teacher, Mrs. Galilee, said in a loud voice, "This is our new student, his name is Kyle Davis, please welcome Mr. Davis."
As Mrs. Galilee introduced the guy to the class, Tiffany noticed a lot of girls batting their eyelashes at him and giggling.
Tiffany rolled her eyes as Mrs. Galilee said, "Mr. Davis, please have a seat."
Kyle nodded and headed towards the seats, the other girls were gesturing for him to sit next to them, he ignored them however and strode over to where Tiffany was and sat down in the seat next to her.
"Hi," he said with a smirk, and winked.
The other girls looked dejectedly at Kyle and angrily at Tiffany, Tiffany glared at all of them, including Kyle, and turned to talk to Kaitlin, who was looking confused at Kyle.
"Who is he supposed to be?" hissed Tiffany to Kaitlin, "He's obviously not a normal human."
Kaitlin shook her head, "And the fact that he knows you and is the one who gave you that invitation is even more weird."
Tiffany inclined her head as a yes to Kaitlin just as the bell rang, signaling the end of second period. Tiffany and Kaitlin got up from their seats and were just heading towards the door when Kyle walked up behind them.
"Hey princesses," they turned to them, glancing at each other confused.
"What?" asked Tiffany rudely, glaring at Kyle.
Kyle stared back at Tiffany and Tiffany shivered as she felt a wave of cold air rushing through her, but she held his gaze, looking defiant.
He laughed and asked, "I just wanted you to tell me where my classes are, here is my schedule." Kyle dropped his gaze and pulled from his pocket his schedule.
He handed it to Tiffany with a slight grin; Tiffany smiled with uncertainty and took his schedule. She looked down and her blood ran cold as she read it, shock written all over her face.
Kyle's schedule was the exact same as hers.
