Later at night, Denis sneaked out of the house. He wore black from head to toe. You would not know him if you did not see him going out. He called his friend Randy and planned the next cause of their action. All this time, he had been in communication with him.
"Is everything planned?"
"Yes"
"Good. Does she know I am still alive?"
"I don't think so. She has been planning to take a few things with her. I don't know how much she is involved, but she is in a relationship with him."
"It doesn't matter. I will be coming back officially. Get everything ready for me. It's time to end this once and for all."
"Okay, Sir. "Randy replied and disappeared in the dark
Denis returned back to Susan's home. As soon as he stepped in, the light in the room was switched on. He stopped on his steps and looked over to see who it was.
"Are you still awake?" He asked as he made his way towards her
"Yes. I was waiting for you. I saw you going out earlier," Replied Susan as she made space for him to sit
Over the few weeks that they have known each other, it had become a norm to sit on the same sofa when they talked.
"So, what's your plan?"
"About what?" Asked Denis
"Don't pretend you don't know what a talking about. What are you planning with all this secrecy? Don't you think I deserve to know? Especially when you keep on sneaking around at night in my house."
"Of course, I know what you are talking about. It's just that I am thinking over what to do exactly. But what I know for sure is that I will be going back to town from time to time. Hope you will allow me to live here for a few more weeks."
There is no way he was going to miss his chance at happiness. He can't remember the last time he felt at home anywhere like he felt there.
"Of course. You can stay here as long as you want."
Denis took the next plan into action. He took his phone and called his fiancée, Irene. Susan was there when he was talking to her.
Irene was shocked to death when she received a call from Denis.
"Hello?"
"Hello." Answered Irene
"How are you? I need your help. I am on my way coming, and I don't want Mark to know. Meet me at the airport within half an hour."
"But-but- where were you? I thought you were dead? What happened?
"Don't worry, you'll know everything when I come."
Irene tried to be diplomatic in any possible way. She dressed and drove to the airport. She knew what to expect, and she was prepared for it.
When Mark blackmailed her, she remembered she had declined his offer and planned on getting rid of Denis. The sacrifice was too much to bear, especially when it involved someone closer to your heart.
Mark was such an incorrigible hypocrite. That's an exact description of the kind of person he is.
She was ready for a confrontation with the only person she thought she could not betray, no matter the circumstances. All of this was running in her mind while driving to the airport to meet Denis.
She still did not believe she was on her way to pick up someone she thought was dead. Everyone knew he was killed.

He was warmly received by a woman in her late twenties, smiling, making her eyes twinkle with merriment. She looked quite dashing with her purple dress. His sight daunted her.
She felt nervous. She suppressed her fears tactfully.
He ran to her as soon as he saw her whirling with excitement. He spanned her around before giving her a deep kiss.
This was all her imagination. She imagined him doing all these things at the airport. As soon as she arrived at the airport, Denis walked to her and gave her a light hug before walking towards her car. He knew her car very well. He was the one who bought it for her as a gift in the first place. On his way back home, he had come up with so many ways of dealing with her but to no avail.
His face twisted with the agony of anger, joy, and so many other emotions. It was difficult to comprehend everything at once. His body was rigid to even bend. Whatever he was feeling and tolerating at that moment was too much. His emotions were nothing compared to what he was planning to do.
When they entered the car, they looked at each other for a long. Denis pressed her head down against his shoulder. Neither of them was conscious of a piercing gaze around them.
All the way home, silence enveloped them. They drove through an abandoned driveway surrounded by leaky suburbs. The Eucalyptus trees planted brought out the serene beauty it held. The red and green leaves fall down in slow motion.
The scent of the eucalyptus tree filled the air. The down chorus sound of birds was magic holding.
The whole place dazzled with its beauty. Denis wanted to come here because nobody knew about this property except the two of them. It's the only place he was sure he could have his time planning his next step.
They stopped at a wide blue gate and honked. They barely waited when the gate immediately flew open. The gateman was a rodent-shaped man. His head was bald, with red eyes made him look scary. He ushered them in and closed the gate behind them. They drove and pulled over at the parking.
