Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Academy Bout

The crowd of students watched as the six students glared at one another. Rakaia, Cana and the unknown girl in their school uniform glaring at Saitou, Kaitou, and Maitou. The tension was immense as Rakaia eyes met Saitou's and the girl's behind him followed suit, glaring at Kaitou and Maitou.

The girl quickly glanced over at Rakaia, seeing him standing near her caused her to narrow her eyes at him. "I don't need your help." She simply told him before returning her gaze back to the three boys that stood in front of them. "I can handle this by myself." She pointed out.

"This isn't about you." Rakaia shot back, not taking his eyes off of Saitou. "I just want to pay that jackass back for what happened last night," Rakaia stated, his eyes narrowing at Saitou, who only smirked back at him in response.

"What? You mean him beating you up?" The girl replied harshly as she took a step forward, standing beside him, but eying the same person he was. "If you couldn't beat him then, what makes you think you stand a chance now?" She asked him.

"He caught me by surprise last time." Rakaia quickly answered. "This time will be different." He slightly narrowed his glare towards the girl that stood beside him.

She closed her eyes for a second. "It will be." She reopened them. "Because I'm going to be the one that takes him down." She added her glare now towards Rakaia as they both locked eyes with Cana standing behind them, confusion and nervousness starting to appear on her face as she darted between the both of them.

"You're going to have to get past me first." Rakaia glared at her.

"Fine by me, just don't get mad at me when you lose." She responded back as they both got in each other's face, tension lightning shooting from both their eyes as they locked glares.

"Guys, guys, guys!" Cana shouted as she broke in between them." We have bigger problems to worry about." She told them as she pointed at the three boys that remained in front of them. "Like the three jerks standing in front of us." She finished as Saitou and his crew began to laugh amongst themselves as both Rakaia and the new student turned their heads back to their quarry.

"Well now isn't that cute," Saitou spoke up, his arms crossed as he looked down at the students that he met the night before. "You two think that you can beat me and my boys, well I must say that you are certainly out of your league." He remarked. "Especially, you kid." Saitou pointed towards Rakaia. "I don't think you want a repeat of what happened last night in front of the whole school do you?" Saitou pressured him as Rakaia gritted his teeth.

"You just called my number," Rakaia smirked at him as he took a step forward towards Saitou's direction.

"Are you sure, you really want this kid," Saitou asked as Rakaia continued to make his way towards him. "You know that this beating is going to be worse right?" He continued to taunt.

"I'm going to drag your ass through the mud and embarrass you in front of everybody." He snickered as he continued to look down at Rakaia, who stopped in front of him.

"Just say when." He balled up his fist as the two glared at each other once again, Rakaia not caring if he was about to fight alone or not.

The crowd watched in anticipation as a huge fight was about to break out. Cana and the new school girl stood waiting for one of them to make a move as well as Saitou's bodyguards that stood behind him as well.

Suddenly, the sound of clapping could be heard as the students quickly turned their heads to the source of the noise, only to see an Instructor walking up to the group with a stern look on her face. "Well, well, well what do we have here?" She asked sarcastically. "A couple of students who just earned a first class trip to my office," Mariko stated as she stepped through the crowd of students, glaring down at Rakaia and Saitou who slowly turned their heads towards her.

"Great, Just what we needed." Saitou gritted his teeth as Rakaia just stared at her uncaringly for a moment before he returned his head back towards Saitou.

"Don't worry about her, she's not importan…." Rakaia couldn't even finish his sentence as Mariko quickly slapped him in the back of the head, knocking him down on the ground as a vein throbbed on her forehead. "What the hell was that for?" Rakaia quickly got up and yelled at her.

"For disrespecting your well-loved and well-adored teacher, who does nothing but assures that you have nothing but the best at this school and…" Mariko was cut off as Rakaia got in her face.

"That's a load of crap!" Rakaia shouted at her again.

"Whap!"

Mariko slapped Rakaia again, knocking him back down. "Care to repeat that again, lazy student of mine?" Mariko asked him as she looked down at him as he shot back up.

"Lazy? You're lazy? You're a good for nothing teacher that does nothing but hides in her room and gets fat off of the food in the faculty lounge!" Rakaia shouted at her as Mariko eyes beamed with anger as Rakaia quickly regretted the words that came out of his mouth.

"How dare you…." She took a step towards Rakaia, as he nervously stepped back.

"Mariko…" Rakaia muttered as she took another slow step forward. "Hey Mariko come on, I was just playing, it was just a joke." Rakaia continued to back up.

"You lazy, irresponsible, good for nothing…." Mariko was now fuming as everyone outside could only watch as Mariko jumped on Rakaia and started to attack him in a puff of smoke. The students stood by and watched as a sweat dropped appeared on their foreheads as the cloud of smoke continued to prevent everyone from seeing the beating that Mariko put on him.

He tried to crawl away, but Mariko dragged him back in and continued her work as Rakaia's loud scream could be heard throughout the courtyard.

"Does this happen every day?" The girl asked Cana as they both looked on in disbelief.

Cana could only nod at her question. "Yep."

"I don't mean to point out the obvious, but I'm sure this crosses the line as child abuse." She added.

Cana just nodded again. "Yep."

Rakaia tired and worn out and was held by his collar as Mariko glared at her students angrily. "What are you still standing around for?" She shouted at them. "Do you not have a class that you need to attend to?" She continued on as the students quickly looked at each other and disbursed without a second thought. "And as for you…" She directed her eyes to Cana and the new girl that appeared beside her, along with Saitou and his crew. "My office, now." She hissed as she walked off, dragging Rakaia along as the group of kids watched as Rakaia struggled and fought against Mariko's grip, but to no avail.

-Ms. Imuran's Office/shortly after-

Mariko's office looked like any other Instructors office. She carried herself very professionally, even if she was dealing with Rakaia on the side. In front of her was a large desk that was neatly organized with a computer sitting off to the side of her. She had a few book shelves around the room with a few books and pictures and degrees set up in varies places. In front of her desk were two sofas and a small glass coffee table in-between them. She sat irritable at her desk as she eyed her students intently. Cana and the

Luna sat on the sofa to Mariko's right side while Saitou and two buddies occupied the sofa to her left. Rakaia was off leaning against the wall on the far right side of her office, not trying to be by anybody at this moment and time.

"So, before we get started, allow me to make one thing clear with all of you." Mariko's stern voice dominated the room as she gained everyone's undivided attention. "Unauthorized fights at this school will not be tolerated. If you want to hash it out, then you all know to fill out an official request form and if it is approved, you will be given a set date to take out your issues with one another." Mariko's eyes darted between her students. "With that being said." Mariko continued on as she closed her eyes for a split second; reopening as she continued to lay down the rules of her school." I do not want to see a crowd of students hovering over senseless behavior. We do not carry that kind of attitude within these walls and you will all do well to remember that." She ended as she heard a slight grunt from Rakaia as he turned his head away from her, obviously irritated as well.

"Do you have something say?" She eyed him sharply. "If I recall, I didn't say that I was done speaking." She added as Rakaia sent a slight glare her way before turning his head away from her again. "That's what I thought." She turned her attention back to the students in front of her.

"Now I hope I have made myself clear on the matter as far as the rules are concerned." She stated as she looked at the students for a second before she spoke again. "So let's get to the part that really pisses me off," Mariko stated as she turned her deadly gaze towards Saitou and his two friends.

"Saitou, this whole thing started with you, since you thought it was sporty of you to gang up on a female student," Mariko spoke to him. "Care to explain yourself?" She gave him the floor.

"What? Seriously? You believe that load of…" Saitou began.

"I would seriously suggest you think about your words carefully Saitou," Mariko interrupted him.

"I'm not one for patience and don't think your actions can't get you expelled faster than a phone call to your father." Mariko threatened as Saitou and his two friends eyes nearly shot out of their heads.

"Whoa, wait a damn minute here!" Saitou made his way towards her desk. "Why are you pinning this all on me?" He got within inches of her.

"Because I saw the whole thing Saitou and this isn't the first time you decided to throw your weight around in this school," Mariko spoke. "And a handicap against a girl, honestly," Mariko added on as Saitou leaned back off her desk and stood in front of her.

He gave her a smudged look before turning his head to Cana and the unknown girl that sat beside her. "But come on Ms. Imuran," Saitou spoke coolly as he eyed the two girls sitting on the couch. "How can a man resist two lovely young ladies such as these two. " He lightly licked his lips.

"By getting pounded in the face." Rakaia barked as his glare met Saitou's.

"Rakaia," Mariko spoke up.

"Nah, it's alright Ms. Imuran, I don't mind beating up the little nat," Saitou responded to him as Rakaia still leaned against the wall. "Besides maybe it will teach the little runt who's boss around here," Saitou added.

"Fine, let's do it now." Rakaia leaned off the wall, his fist balled up.

"Saitou!" Mariko stood up from her desk as Cana and the Luna stood up as well.

"Come on guys," Saitou stated. "You heard the runt." He looked back at Kaitou and Maitou. "He's asking for another beat down, what do you say we give it to him," Saitou stated as both Kaitou and Maitou stood up as well, smirking as they pounded their fists together.

"You're not getting anywhere near Kaia." Cana jumped out from the sofa and table and in-between Saitou and Rakaia. "I owe you a beat down to and don't think just because I'm small I can't drop you." She spoke up as Saitou's grinned widened.

"ENOUGH!" Mariko stood up, slamming her hands against the desk, gaining her student's attention again. "Saitou! I want you and your tag alongs out of my office! NOW!" Mariko shouted at them.

"So you're going to just yell at us and let them stay here?" Saitou eyed her.

"That is not the issue here! As of right now, I want you out of my office and In your class!" She growled lightly, trying to dissolve the situation as fast as she could.

Saitou stared at her for a moment and then shrugged his shoulders. "Hmph, I knew you were a crappy Teacher. "Playing favorites." Saitou turned towards his friends. "Let's get out of this dump." He finished as he and his friends left the room, slamming the door behind him; leaving Mariko gritting her teeth at his statement.

"I swear I'm getting too old for this." She sighed as she sat back down in her seat.

Rakaia remained silent as Cana and Luna sat back down on the couch. "Bunch of jerks." Cana huffed as she crossed her arms.

"Let it go Cana." Mariko rubbed her temple. "Just let it go, I'll deal with them later." She finished as she looked over at Rakaia, who remained silent.

"That goes for you to Rakaia," Mariko told him as he looked back over at her.

"Like hell, I will." He replied.

"Don't be so stubborn, it's over; let it go," Mariko responded immediately. "There's nothing for you to gain by beating on them, you're just going to force my hand and I'm going to have to find a suitable punishment for you and personally I don't really want to do that," Mariko explained to him. "So please, stop being hard headed just this once and let it go, for me." Mariko ended.

Rakaia was about to say something, but he was interrupted by another female voice in the room.

"Going after them by yourself would be stupid anyway; you've already got beaten once." The girl spoke out, causing everyone including Rakaia, to turn their attention to her.

"I was caught off guard, simple as that." Rakaia retaliated.

"It doesn't matter." She spoke back up. "Even though you were caught off guard, you still got back up and continued the fight, by that time, you were well aware of your opponent and he made it known that you stood no chance." She broke it down for him. "So what makes you think you have a chance against him now?" She wouldn't let up on Rakaia as Rakaia gritted his teeth at her statement.

Mariko sat back with a confused look on her face. "Luna, what are you talking about? Did Rakaia and Saitou have a previous encounter or something." She asked as the new girl, as Luna turned her attention towards Mariko Imuran and nodded her head.

"It was after we left school yesterday." Cana answered her as Mariko listened to her statement. "We were heading home when we heard them bullying a kid. So…"Cana looked at Mariko as she spoke. "We stepped in and well…Things got out of hand." Cana finished.

"So you fought?" Mariko asked as Cana nodded her head, causing Mariko to turn her head towards Rakaia. "And you?" She asked him.

"We were just about to finish it before you showed up," Rakaia told her arrogantly as Mariko narrowed her eyes at him. "Thanks for that by the way, I was just about to make him pay for what happened last night and then…"

"You would have embarrassed yourself," Luna spoke over him as everyone turned their attention towards her. "It would have been a repeat of what happened last night before I stepped in to save you." She told him.

"Nobody asked you to save me." Rakaia shot back. "I was perfectly fine on my own." He growled at her.

"Yeah, that's not what I saw." Luna bluntly spoke causing Rakaia to grit his teeth at the well-known female that entered their school.

"Rakaia calm down, it's alright; what's done is done," Mariko spoke, but Rakaia wasn't having it.

"Bull!" Rakaia shouted as he pointed at her. "Just because you're some big shot doesn't mean you can come in here and start acting like I needed you or something, by the way; Mariko what the hell is she doing here anyway? Didn't you go quit or something after you got your butt whipped in that grudge match." Rakaia crossed his arms and smirked at her as it was Luna's turn to grit her teeth as she eyed the Black haired boy with Red highlights.

"That's enough Rakaia." Mariko sighed as she eyed the tension between the two. She rubbed her temple for a bit before coming back to the situation. "Luna's reasons for being at this school are classified." Mariko began.

Rakaia looked over at her. "So what? She's some secret agent or something?" He asked her, but Mariko shook her head.

"No, nothing of the sort, she just simply does not wish for people to know why she is here. If you mature enough, she may actually tell you herself." Mariko smiled at him as Rakaia quickly turned his head away from her.

"Yeah, whatever…" He grunted as Mariko caught a giggle out of her tease before she straightened herself back up and leaned back in her chair.

"Ok, now on a serious note." She crossed her legs. "Rakaia, I'm sure you are aware that I cannot do anything about fights that happen outside of school grounds." She started. "With that being said I do recommend that you be careful when you are on your way home. If something were to happen I cannot hold who is responsible accountable." She ended as she closed her eyes for a moment before reopening them. "You and Cana got lucky the first time and you should really be thankful that Luna showed up when she did." She earned a huff from Rakaia as Luna narrowed her eyes at him.

"The next time you find yourselves in a similar situation, please just call the police and they will take care of it," Mariko suggested as the three looked at her and unison. "I'm sure you all know that's isn't particular a good thing to be out after dark, especially with everything that's going on right now. " Mariko continued. "I don't want you out at night brawling with those types of things going about, go straight home and be aware of your surroundings. I don't want to lose any of my students to something that could possibly be avoided." Mariko pressed as both Cana and Luna nodded their heads in understanding as Rakaia just stared at Mariko, who met his gaze.

"I mean it Rakaia." She added. "No more after school fights. If you can help it, please just do as I ask and call the police. It's better that way." She stated as Rakaia's eyes narrowed at her before he turned his back towards her and walked out of her office, closing the door behind him; leaving everyone in the room silent.

"Kaia…," Cana called his name but it went unheard.

"He's a handful. "Luna stated.

Mariko sighed. "He gives me a headache…" She grumbled. "I need a drink." She leaned back at her desk as Cana let out a light snicker at her principal's expense.

-Later that day/in the classroom-

Students piled in as class was getting ready to start. They both chatted amongst themselves as Rakaia sat in his desk towards the window, gazing out of it. He ignored the students as he appeared to be lost in his thoughts. He watched as students of both male and female run about, going to different places as they laughed and smiled.

He sighed a bit as he recalled his principal's words.

"I mean it Rakaia." She added. "No more after school fights. If you can help it, please just do as I ask and call the police. It's better that way."

Mariko's words played in his head as he let out a heavy sigh once again. "Yeah, whatever , like that will ever happen." He mumbled to himself as he continued to look out the window with a drained expression on his face.

"Don't let it bother you." Cana appeared behind him, leaning against the front of her desk. "She's just worried that's all," Cana assured him .

"Yeah, I know," Rakaia replied. "It's just that guy really pisses me off." Rakaia turned to face her as Cana gave him a sweet smile.

"Well, look on the bright side. We didn't get in trouble or anything, so after school, you want to see who's fighting in the ring tonight?" Cana asked him as Rakaia gave her a nonchalant, but deeply bothered look.

"Sorry Cana, but I think I'm just going to go home." He told her. "I don't want to have Mariko on my back if anything else happens here,"

Rakaia stated as Cana nodded her as she looked up for a quick second and saw their teacher coming into the class.

With the class taking note of this as well, they all found their respective seats, while the teacher made his way to the front of the class.

The teacher didn't waste any time as he took his position on the podium. He entered his normal morning routine about their assignments as Rakaia drifted off into his mind again, gazing out the window taking in the school's surrounding scenery.

"Well, it's not like things can get any worse ." Rakaia thought to himself until his eyes returned to the front of the class revealing Luna standing beside the teacher. "Oh for the love of…You got to be kidding me!" His mind was outraged as the dark brown haired girl narrowed her eyes at him.

"Go ahead and introduce yourself to the class." The teacher spoke as Luna nodded her head. "My name is Luna Kazehaya. I am a…." She couldn't finish as the classroom full of students literally leaped out their seats at the sight of the very famed Luna attending their school. The boys completely fell in love with the newcomer and the girls quickly adored her present as a sweat dropped appeared over Luna's head as she sighed heavily at the reaction.

"Students, Students, Settle down." As the teacher tried to regain control of his classroom, Luna quickly turned her attention to Rakaia, who could only give a surprised look back as they locked eyes for a moment.

"This. Can't ...be….Happening!" He mentally yelled as the students continued to ball into a frenzy as Cana could do nothing but giggle from behind him.

-Behind the school -

Saitou kicked a trash can over in pure frustration as he gritted his teeth in anger. "That stupid bitch!" He shouted. "2 weeks of coming to school early to clean the damn Arena!" Saitou was livid as both Kaitou and Maitou understood his anger as they too were forced to join in on his punishment.

"At least, they didn't make us clean the bathrooms." Kaitou butted in as he slowly mopped the floor around the ring.

"That would be even worse!!!" Saitou yelled. "Who would even force a punishment on someone like that?"

"It's all that little girl's fault." Kaitou brought up. "If it wasn't for her showing up when she did…" His sentence was stopped with Saitou kicked another trash can over out of pure anger.

"Hey! I have to pick that up you know!" Maitou yelled in annoyance as trash hit the floor as a result.

Saitou ignored Maitou's comment and gritted his teeth. "Yea, she's to blame for all of this. If it wasn't for her getting in our business," Saitou was cut off.

"And that kid too." Maitou pointed out. "He's the reason we got in trouble, that little runt is going to pay for this." Maitou balled up his fist.

"Oh, he's going to pay alright," Saitou added on as an evil smirk appeared on his face as he made his way over towards Maitou and Kaitou, wrapping his arms around both their shoulders.

"Oh, he's going to pay big time." He snickered evilly. "Let me tell you what we're going to do." He said as he began to whisper in their ears causing them both to join in as the same smile appeared across their faces.
