"I assume you can speak, young lady!"
The man's voice complimented his harsh appearance well.
Clearing her throat, Theodora put up a confident face. She was Ralph Longhurst's daughter. Nobody could intimidate her!
"Hello, sire! My name is Theodora and I have come from Warthford Island." She introduced herself.
The man's deep brown eyes widened in surprise as he gave her another once-over. The vertical lines in the middle of his brows deepened as he knitted his bushy grey brows.
"Warthford Island? You have come from so far!"
Though the island Theodora assumed she was on was about an hour's distance from Warthford Island, the whole journey felt like she had travelled across the continents.
She nodded her head. "Yes, sire!"
"Why are you here?" The man asked, narrowing his eyes.
"I am here to get these flowers for Mr Collins, sire." She had a note in Mr Collins' handwriting.
