Theodora followed Mr Collins and Bertha towards a gate made up of bamboo tied together with some brown rope. Curious, Theodora asked, "What is this?"
Mr Collins paid any attention to Theodora for the second time since he had met her. He glanced at where Theodora was pointing at.
"That rope is called as coir rope, Lady Theodora. Coir rope is traditionally made from white coir, which comes from the husks of coconuts that are harvested shortly before they ripen." Mr Collins explained.
Theodora was astonished to hear that. She paced up to join Mr Collins and Bertha. "You mean that coconut tree?" Theodora asked, pointing at a row of coconut palms that bordered Mr Collins' garden.
"They are not made by me Lady Theodora but the tropical people from the far East export these coir ropes in large quantities."
That was something extraordinary Theodora had learned today.
"But are they so strong that you have sued them in making a gate of your garden?"
