Just a few minutes before the darkness befell on the world, Gerald and Theodora found the stream they were looking for. It was hidden behind the rows of trees and tall grass, and if it was not for the sound of its slowly flowing water, then they might have taken longer to find it.
Theodora realised what Gerald meant by people respecting that stream as a holy place. The water was so clear that she didn't need to think twice before she squatted down and gathered it in her palms to quench her thirst.
It even tasted sweeter. Or perhaps it was her mind playing tricks with her.
She looked around to see that the place was neat and clean. There were no toads quirked around nor there were any insects in that water. When Theodora was about to wash her face and hands in that water, Gerald stopped her.
"Though we know why this place was declared holy, these people believe in its holiness, Theodora. We should respect their emotions and belief."
