Gerald watched Bertha laughing and playing with Filch. She was shocked in the beginning but took an instant liking toward the niffler.
Even Filch, who always told him that Theodora was more beautiful for him, was now Bertha's friend in their first meeting itself.
Gerald didn't know why he didn't introduce them to each other before.
"I thought you would think that I am an insane man to have a niffler as my friend." he didn't realise that he had blurted out his thought loudly until the words were already gone from his mouth.
Bertha looked up with the same smile that had him falling at her feet.
"I still think that you are a insane man Gerald. Only difference is I like your friend!"
The niffler said something Bertha had to rely on Gerald for communication between them.
"He is saying that he likes you."
Bertha giggled, rubbing Filch's back gently.
"I like you too, Filch!"
"More than Gerald?"
