Chapter 29 - The fight begins (part 1)

3rd POV

"Kakashi-senpai, I don't think it's appropriate to change the test like this." Yamato said as he looked at the three genin of team seven captured and tied to three wooden logs. The situation with team seven was the same and different from what Ryu expected according to the canon. They still lost to Kakashi, but they worked together from the beginning before they lost. The fact that they lost didn't change much, but it did change the idea of a new test by the one-eyed jounin. Now his focus was only on Team 10. His little genin had passed, in his opinion, and it wasn't like he was going to fail them anyway. One of them was the last Uchiha and the other the son of his sensei. He would hardly send them back to the gym. One speech here and one there and the problem would be solved quickly.

"Your students are peculiar, Tenzo, especially the Akashi boy... he has that aura around him that suggests more skill than it lets on." Kakashi sounded thoughtful. "He reminds me of someone I once knew a long time ago."

"Who, Kakashi-senpai?"

"To myself."

"I don't understand what you mean, Kakashi-senpai...

"He has that look that believes in his invincibility…you know. I think he needs to face some difficulty in order not to become arrogant and kill his teammates in the future..."

That shut up Yamato. He knew the story of his senpai, after all as a fanboy, he was a kind of high level stalker. He knew who his senpai was, his name, dreams, customs... he knew about the teammates who died at the time of the 3rd World War and he knew the depression still present in the young adult... knowing that Kakashi-senpai felt related to one of his students only made him pay more attention to the Akashi boy... did he really need a brake? He did not know.

By then the three had entered the clearing and looked into the eyes of the two jounin (well, Kakashi's eye and both Yamato's eyes, that is).

"Yo, Kakashi." Akashi Ryu said easily. "I see you've already got the three of team seven."

"Yes…they were relatively interesting…I think…

"You don't seem very sure about that." Ryu spoke and glanced at his partners before running towards the man and deftly punching the jounin's smug face. "Kakashi-Ossan, you're better than I imagined someone your age...how old are you already 37 dammit, to still have some juice in that aging body, who would have thought?"

The jounin didn't respond and just blocked the boy's blow before feeling quite a lot of pressure from that punch.

Strong. He thought.

"Neh, Kakashi-Ossan, why are you targeting me? I don't think I have anything an old man like you would find interesting, do I?" The question was accompanied by dozens of quick, skillful punches and kicks, all aimed at serious injury.

Ryu used common taijutsu taught at the gym for a few minutes before switching places with Kimimaru. Kimimaru was much more incisive in his punches. Punches and claps ran towards Kakashi with almost no waiting time between blows, fast and lethal, all blows were placed to be aimed at the deadly points of Kakashi's body.

So cruel!

Naive. Ryu thought as he saw the surprise on the man's face at the malicious intent behind Kimimaru's movements. Ryu wasn't taken in by the man's expressions, however. He was working full speed on finding a flaw, any one he could use, but all were just baits he wouldn't make the mistake of thinking was an opportunity.

"Why do you think I'm targeting you?" Kakashi asked curious with the genin's answer.

"We both know this test was supposed to be done by Yamato-san, but here you are, being the one to fight us." Ryu said with disgust. "You're an Elite jounin, where the hell could we get those devil bells from you? A bad joke, Kakashi-Ossan."

Let's start accelerating.

And so he ran even faster towards Kakashi and launched a huge amount of circular kicks towards the one-eyed one. The way he started to move was very strange, almost like a wild animal fighting another wild animal. His legs started kicking every few minutes and his punches began to synchronize with Kimimaru's punches. The sword, still strapped to her waist, was almost pulled a few times in frustration. The bastard was taking all their hits like they were nothing. As if they couldn't affect him. And he didn't even use the sharingan.

At that moment, frustration completely enveloped Akashi's entire reasoning in a strange mist. It was a completely oblivious and undistracted state.

Punch.

Kimimaru was using his fists coated with thin bone around him to increase hardness and decrease wind resistance. Quick attacks launched towards his face. Kakashi dodged the blows with frightening ease.

Instincts of battle so scary...
