In a lonely cornfield, ways away from the town, stood a big apple tree, it hadn't given fruit in years and was only there to serve as a landmark.
Beneath this tree, Kay woke up with a gasp.
It was already midday, that much she could tell because of the sun burning through the veil of clouds above as though they were completely transparent.
Her throat felt like a forgotten garden and her body ached.
All she could feel was the pain, in every muscle, bone, ligament and synapse.
Without moving too much, she began checking herself, thankfully she was still wearing the gown from the hospital even though by way it felt, it had barely held on, and it seemed that nothing of note had changed about her human body.
"Damnit." She thought with a sob. "Damnit-Damnit-God-fucking-Damnit!"
She would've cried, but she was too thirsty to do even that much, and she could feel the itchy dried blood, muk and utter filth on her skin, it was practically crawling.
Even flies were bothering her, but she was beyond caring about such things when the pain was so severe, besides that, all she could think of was what she had done the night before.
Another mass killing, everybody died, and just like the night seven years ago, her rampage had rolled over into the town, who knew if anyone had been spared or escaped, all she remembered clearly was the hospital, and then that moment when she found Samantha and ripped her to shreds, everything else was a mess of bloody corpses and screams that she could not make sense of.
And of course, the only thing she could properly remember were their faces.
She couldn't move properly though, so she just laid there and waited as her body slowly healed, drowning in thought after venomous thought like a river of negativity.
"Why?" She thought, staring into the bright clouds.
"Why must it be like this?"
All she wanted was peace, but it just seemed unattainable.
The people she met always ended up turning on her, any other beings feared her the moment they realised something was different. And more often than not, she had snapped, but this is the first in a long time that she actually killed so many.
She just couldn't catch a break.
She groaned and hissed through her teeth, shutting her eyes as tight as possible just to elude the insane burning pain as she tried raising her head, but it was too much even now, it was far worse than the first time.
So she just laid there with her face to the overcast skies and let her thoughts roam.
And that is how it was for the next few hours.
The rest of the day passed with her sleeping, only to be awakened by a thunderclap after the sun had set.
She sat up and looked around, it had gotten dark fast and she couldn't spot light in a single direction.
"Why is an apple tree in the middle of nowhere?"
She could smell the air, the scent of water in the wind as it grew chillier and chillier, it wasn't long before she could hear the rain coming so she scooted backwards and rested on the bark of the tree before the showers of rain suddenly started pelting both her and the parched tree.
While there, she was contemplating wether or not she would try killing herself again, she didn't dwell on such thoughts though as she had even intruded on a drug dealers property once and let them spray her with bullets, but all that happened was a few seconds of unconsciousness before she woke up in a rage and killed them all.
"Well then." She stood up when she realised that the rain wasn't gonna stop for a while. "On to the next city." She said before suddenly running off into the rain.
Moments like these are the only times she really liked what she was, because no human can appreciate a good rainfall like a supernatural whose based off power.
She closed her eyes, drawing the power of the moon above the clouds and roared while she ran as fast as her legs could carry her, the drops of water were crashing against her skin so fast they were almost as hard as stones on collision.
She didn't know how far she was going, or in what direction she was going toward but the thrill made it all worth the effort. She began leaping through the air as far as she could along with running, what force compelled her she couldn't even guess but she was indeed being drawn to something without knowing it.
The last leap she made took her high enough that she had a clear view of the horizon, a bright light far off in the distant caught her attention and she immediately recognised that it could be a city.
When she landed however, she recognised another closer and brighter light behind her.
She was too slow to dodge so she braced and growled just before a truck slammed into her, instead of being squished or even slammed and thrown away by the force she was shocked when the front of the truck was destroyed in an instant and it came to an standstill after a few seconds of pushing her along the asphalt.
She forced herself out of the front and stumbled backward several metres before tripping over her own legs and falling on her ass.
Steam and fluids leaked from the vehicle and Sparks of an almost shattered battery caused her to come back to her senses, she jumped to her feet and ran to the door, ripping it off and checking to see if anyone was hurt.
There was an old lady inside, but her head was touching her back and her body was bent like a pretzel. She was as dead as one could get.
"I'm sorry." Kay mumbled to herself before climbing in and checking if anything valuable was inside. Several minutes later, she stepped back out with a full backpack, wearing a sundress and a baseball cap with a pair of brown leather boots.
She didn't waste any more time before taking off again on her way to the city, though this time, she stayed on the road. Eventually the grass she was running alongside gave way to a thick forest of tall trees and vines intertwining. It was almost impossible to maneuver through but she did find her ways.
Her sense of smell led her directly into a camp of tents beside several RVs, by the looks of it and smells it was a party that got rained out.
She was about to step into the midst of them when she picked up the scent of something else lingering, a dog? No.. she sniffed again. "Blood-Hound."
"Who are you, where'd you come from?" A girls voice came from one of the tents in a whisper.
Kay frowned and turned to leave. "Just a passerby, I won't make trouble." She replied stepping away into the night.
"You're a loner aren't you?" The girl spoke a bit louder. "My pack is expanding, you could always come to our alpha, Blood-Hounds look out for each other."
"I'm no Blood-Hound." Kay replied.
"You smell like one."
There was no reply, Kay was already gone.
By daybreak she was standing on the outskirts of a community that led into the city.
She was on end, all her senses were going haywire, her body was telling her to leave or kill, there was imminent danger lurking somewhere close, Blood-Hounds, lots and lots of them.
Also Werewolves, and other scents she'd never come across before.
"What the hell?"
In fact, with the stench the place had, it seemed that almost every home had at least one of something or the other, which was saying a lot when the place was several blocks big and crammed with houses.
Her stomach however had other ideas, so she ignored her instincts and kept walking until she saw a Cafe.
Without much thought she just walked up to it and pushed the door open, the moment she did though her hair stood on end when a pair of blood red eyes landed on her.
