It was late evening in the kingdom of Scorching Sun. All across the city, there was a deathly stillness, as if a pin drop could be heard. All around was a feeling of fear, encompassing the whole area. There still remained in the air the remnant of a deathly scream, filled with sorrow and betrayal.
This scream contained all of the terror that Kessia felt, and it brought with it a fear which seeped into the hearts of all that heard it. It was an inconceivable fear which seemed to exist physically in a wave, quickly fading into nothing. However, despite the fear fading away, it had already left a mark in everyone's hearts.
In the room which had now been burned to cinders, there sat Will, pondering. Beside him sat Old Man Dai, who was also pondering. The whole kingdom had basically been destroyed. It's king was dead, as was the only princess, and the queen had betrayed them all and had escaped by only a string. However, as thin as that string was, it did not break. This string was the protective bell which had saved her life. In the end, the bell had been shattered by Will's qi, but it had taken too long and she had killed Kessia and already gotten away at that point.
At this point, the castle had also started to burn down, and two of the peak spirit realms that had helped to stop Xenia were dead as well. All that was left was ruin.
At this moment, there was an inexplicable calmness on Will's face as he finally spoke, saying one word.
"Why?"
After a few moments, Old Man Dai finally spoke, saying very simply, "This world is a cruel place. In it, people will betray their own family for a big enough benefit. No one is safe from betrayal. If I'm not wrong, Xenia was offered a chance to join the Shadow Devil kingdom as an inner disciple. The cost to join is killing your own family to prove your loyalty. She had the technique of the ghost fire, which is one of the techniques of the Shadow Devil kingdom. This means that the king is dead too, and that this kingdom will soon cease to exist." He said this with a sadness deep in his eyes. After all, he had lived here for a long time, and he was even the advisor in this place.
Hearing this, Will pondered for a few moments before a look of iron resolve appeared on his face. At this moment, he punched the ground as hard as he could, so hard that the ground which was solid granite completely shattered, leaving behind a pile of dust. The sound of the impact echoed through the whole city. Along with this echo came a calmness so intense that it had terrified everyone that heard it down to their very core.
After this, Will finally spoke softly, "From this day onward, I vow to purify this world of its filth."
These simple words were spoken softly, but it echoed through not only the whole city, but even to the outer edges of the kingdom. These simple words were like a proclamation of death, and those that heard it felt a fear deeper than anything that they had ever felt before, but even more than that, they felt that these words could not be defied, no matter how powerful they may be. Even those at the peak of the spirit realm felt a terror that they never had before and never would again.
Following this, the calmness resumed, leaving everything in the kingdom in silence.
Will slowly lifted up his fist from the ground, which had now been crushed into powder. There was a stream of blood falling down his arm, which had now been broken and cut up by the sheer power of the impact. However, in a mere moment, it had completely healed, leaving faint streams of red going down his arm seemingly as a reminder of the vow which he had made today.
As he made this vow, he felt a change in his heart. Following that, he felt that his bottleneck had completely vanished, polishing the way for him to become a spirit realm.
From this moment on, his heart was steady, like an anchor in the deep and boundless ocean. Nothing could shake his calmness. Nothing could move him.
After making his vow and after his arm healed, Will no longer stayed here and instead flew away quickly, with no particular goal in mind for where he was going. Within a few minutes, he had reached a forest a hundred miles away from the city.
He quickly landed in the forest and sat down on a rock in the lotus position.
All around him, there quickly gathered a massive amount of blood red and pearl white qi, quickly forming into the helix, then came the booming of his heart, which shook the whole forest.
Very quickly, all the helixes of red and pearl qi were wrapped in ruby and started to go into his body. He could very obviously feel the advancement that it brought. He was now breaking through to the spirit realm.
According to the manuals that Old Man Dai had given him, breaking through to the spirit realm was the most important part of cultivation because it formed your first inner power. This inner power of the first kind was inner breath, which came in the form of threads. Each thread would represent a level of the spirit realm, and there were a total of six threads to be formed. This meant that there were six levels of the spirit realm.
While breaking through to the spirit realm, one would take an immense amount of qi and form it into the strand of inner breath. This single strand of inner breath would be extremely dangerous and hundreds of thousands of times stronger than qi on its own. However, despite being so much stronger than qi, it was not really that strong based on the fact that even the strongest qi would never be able to cause even the smallest possible amount of damage to even the weakest person in existence no matter how much was used. Will's qi was one of the only exceptions to this and was instead millions of times stronger than normal qi.
As Will started the process of breaking through, he felt a change in the ruby heart manual. He shifted his mind to the ruby heart manual, and when he did, he could not help being astonished. The ruby heart manual was now unlocking a new level and showing him how to break through to the spirit realm with the power of his heart. However, contrary to his expectations, it did not say to use the helix or event the qi of hope to break through and transform into inner breath. Instead, he would use the pearl white qi, which had just been identified by the manual as the qi of calmness. In addition, he would have three additional levels of the spirit realm compared to everyone else. This meant that he would have a total of nine levels of the spirit realm, while everyone else only had six.
However, he was further astonished when he saw that each additional level of the spirit realm that he broke through, he would acquire a new emotional qi. The levels were, the qi of calmness, the qi of hope, the qi of anger, the qi of happiness, the qi of fear, the qi of sadness, the qi of greed, the qi of hate, and the qi of love.
Each level would give him a new emotional qi, which would then be converted into inner breath in the next level. Such as right now, he currently would have the inner breath of calmness after breaking through and would have the qi of hope. After he broke through to the second level and got the inner breath of hope, he would then get the qi of anger. After breaking through to the third level, he would get the inner breath of anger and the qi of happiness and so on.
Now, following the instructions of the ruby heart manual, Will stopped forming the helixes of qi and instead directly and only used the qi of calmness, directing it directly into his body in a fashion remarkably similar to the one which he had used to heal Kessia of her poisoning. Under his control, the qi formed into small strands which then went directly into his body from all over, making him nearly not visible anymore due to the sheer amount of qi around him. Similar to when he healed Kessia, he also floated up into the air.
Inside of himself, all of the qi that he was gathering was all pouring into one single point which was smaller than the tip of a needle. This point was so small that it seemed to barely even exist. However, the sheer amount of qi that was pouring into that small point was enough to form the strand of inner breath for other people many times over. However, it seemed to never come to an end going into that one point. slowly, this point expanded, eventually coming to the thickness of a single strand of hair. From there, it continued to expand, reaching the size of a piece of grass after a whole day. Finally, the ball of gathered qi started to lengthen, forming more and more as time went on. After a whole three months, this qi had formed into the size of four feet long, in the shape of a blade of grass. The inner breath which it had become was razor-thin and approximately 5 millimeters wide, leading it to look like a long piece of grass.
Finally, the process was done and the inner breath had formed after two whole months of time cultivating. It must be said that normally, it would take a normal person about one or two days at most to break through to the spirit realm, and their inner breath formed wouldn't even be strong at all, unlike Will's inner breath, which had been formed by qi which by itself was many times stronger than inner breath, being compressed beyond the point of reason.
After breaking through, Will was completely exhausted, and he nearly collapsed from fatigue. But he managed to push through it and circulate the inner breath through his body. He was satisfied with the power that he felt at this moment, and the inner breath that he had was many times stronger than someone of the same level.
As he got up, he for the first time tried to use his inner breath. As he did so, the whole forest around him seemed to liven up, and the instant that the inner breath came out of his body, he could feel an unprecedented calmness from it, which seemed to be able to calm the stormiest sea. The instant that the inner breath touched one of the trees next to him, a strange scene appeared.
The part of the tree that the inner breath touched had absolutely no reaction. Instead, the inner breath went straight through it. But what happened next astonished Will beyond belief. The whole tree quickly fell so still that there was absolutely no movement from it whatsoever. It was so calm that it seemed as if the tree simply didn't exist. Even with Will's senses toward emotion, that could detect the emotion in anything, even something like a rock, he could sense absolutely nothing from where the tree was, as if it simply didn't exist.
The next moment, Will took back the inner breath into his body. However, the moment he did, he could suddenly sense the tree again. Not only could he sense it, he could tell that it was getting chaotic. Yes, chaotic, the opposite of the calmness of the inner breath which he possessed.
The chaos soon got so strong that he could hear cracking sounds, after which random parts of the tree quickly started cracking, eventually leading it to shatter entirely. All that was left was a pile of chunks of wood at the end, a result which Will never would have expected before. This was something that he couldn't even begin to comprehend the reason of.
However, he quickly dismissed it as being part of the mystery of his heart.
The next moment, he could sense that his wings were now going through a change too. If he was not blind, he would have seen that his wings were now turning a pure pearl white, with only red tips on the feathers. It seemed as if the pearl wings had been slightly dipped in blood at the tips of the feathers.
Suddenly, Will flew up into the sky, launching himself towards the city of Scorching Sun kingdom.
