Chereads / THE MEMORY LOST IN SPACE / Chapter 24 - Blue Flower

Chapter 24 - Blue Flower

Its name was Big Bear. The robot allowed Lorraine to come into Qian Xu's house and let her have nutrients. Big Bear gave Lorraine a house tour. Surprisingly, Qian Xu's house was so clean and tidy with very few furniture and very few extra objects beside the most basic necessities, so empty and deserted as if the man who lived here lived only just for living, merely alive.

Lorraine's eyes were getting wet. She knew that Qian Xu was an orphan and this is the only place where Qian Xu' lived, his only home, but no one's home is like this.

Because she had no memory and her identity was fake, it turned out that she was not the only person who had no home. Qian Xu was not actually a sun that always shining brilliant glorious light. Because he understands, that's why he was compassionate. Because he felt the same, that's why he considered others in his own place and treated other with tenderness.

Lorraine found a palm-sized black box in the corner of the floor. She felt inexplicably familiar. It had a blue flower embedded below.

Lorraine suddenly remembered that she had seen this kind of flower in the Yilar Mountains. When Qian Xu took her to the Adventurer Paradise Park, she had picked a small unremarkable blue flower from the roadside and gave it to Qian Xu.

Although there was no evidence that this was the flower she gave him, Lorraine's instinct told her that this was the flower.

She pressed the black box's hidden button and the melodious sweet singing filled the room. Such a very very old song, so old that only existed in the ancient legend songs.

Lorraine sat on the floor and listened quietly, thinking of countless lonely nights Qian Xu had.

Amidst the ancient melodious singing, Qian Xu walked into the house.

It was when the sun was setting. The afterglow of the sun sprinkled through the windows.

Lorraine leaned against the wall and sat on the floor. Her eyes closed. Her cheeks still had undried tear stains. A faint orange halo enveloped her, made her look like an ancient fragile beautiful portrait in a museum.

His heart was throbbing. He had to calm himself before walked over with a heavy step.

Lorraine opened her eyes.

'Where came the wind

Blew and blew

Blew away starlight, blew wild the coming

Mountain river could do nothing

......'

Four eyes meet. The mournful singing voice floated into his ears made him not dare to look at her directly. He bent down and turned off the music player.

Lorraine softly called: "Qian Xu."

Qian Xu took a few steps back and kept the distance between them.

"Are you still angry with me?" Lorraine asked.

"No, your identity is special. It's normal to hide it from outsiders."

Lorraine smiled bitterly: "I really hope that you will say that you are angry. It's normal to hide from the outside, but what about the insider?"

Qian Xu said indifferent: "Don't think about nonsense, I totally accept everything you hide."

Lorraine picked up the black music box and showed him the bottom: "Is this blue flower the one I gave you?"

"No." Qian Xu answered without the slightest hesitation.

"You lied! If this flower has nothing to do with that flower, then when I asked, how did you know what I was talking about? Shouldn't you be asking in surprise of when did I give you flowers?"

"My ability to remember has always been very good." Qian Xu still denied it cleanly.

Lorraine lightly sighed and asked seriously: "I want to tell you a story. Will someone may be listening on the other side of the wall?"

"What story?"

Qian Xu didn't say no, clearly meant that there was no need to worry about that kind of situation. Lorraine patted on the floor, signaled him to sit.

Qian Xu stood still, showing distanced rejection.

Lorraine smiled bitterly. Her finger slowly glided on the black box. "In my memory, I had never seen this thing before. I checked in the star network and it said that it was an old antique that had been lost a long time ago. But as soon as I saw it, I know right away how to use. I know that there are many, many ancient songs in it. As I just listened, there are some songs that I know how to sing."

Confusion flashed in Qian Xu's eyes.

Lorraine tapped on the black box in her hand, smiled and stuck out her tongue: "There are many things I don't remember. From time to time, something would pop up. Sometimes I felt miserable, and sometimes I felt it's quite fun. This hidden ability is like an Easter egg hidden in a life, suddenly will give me a little surprise. Hoping that one day, I don't suddenly find out that there is a bombing egg buried would be good."

Qian Xu listened and confused: "What are you talking about?"

Lorraine raised her head and looked straight at Qian Xu: "I didn't lie to you. I am really Luo Xun."

Qian Xu frowned.

"I had told you. I was from another planet immigrated to Alicata planet, which is the truth. What I didn't tell you is that I used someone else's identity to immigrate from Al Empire to Alicata."

"What's… the meaning?"

"I am not the real Princess Lorraine. I am an imposter who disguise as a fake princess. I lost all my memories and I don't know who I am, so I named myself Luo Xun."

Lorraine risked her life and spoke out her deepest hidden secret.

She didn't know how Qian Xu would response, but she knew that only one's own heart that can be exchanged for others heart. When she hid her secrets, she already concealed her heart away.

A concealed heart could not genuinely get close to other heart, just like one pair of closed eyes would not be able to see the other clearly.

Since the deceitful quicksand couldn't support anything, then just rid of all the quicksand. Whether under the quicksand was a vast land where everything could grow, or a bottomless abyss that destroyed everything, she could only use her life to gamble

"You said, you used someone else's identity. You are not the real... princess?" Qian Xu stayed rational beyond expectation and seemed to be able to accept the facts in a very short time. His expression and tone was very calm.

"Ummm." Lorraine nodded.

"Where is the real princess? Is she dead?" Qian Xu stared at her. His eyes sharped like an unsheathed sword as if wanted to pierce her heart to confirm whether her words were real or fake.

Lorraine felt very unfamiliar, but at this moment Qian Xu should also felt that she was unfamiliar too. It's not that both of them had changed. It's just that they had finally torn off the mask that hid themselves.

"No, we had a peaceful deal. No blood shed. No fraud. The princess already has a beloved boyfriend. She was unwilling to marry to the Odin Federation. I was a death row convict who committed an absurd death penalty crime. The princess gave me an opportunity to survive. I married to Odin in her place. Both accomplished in a deal where each took what they needed..."

Lorraine narrated the deal between her and the princess from the beginning to the end all the way through.

Qian Xu asked: "You don't know where the princess went?"

"I don't know. I only know that she must be with Dr. Mu. May be they should be very happy."

"They want you to be Princess Lorraine forever?"

"Ummm. Dr. Mu said that as long as no one suspicious, I can be Princess Lorraine forever."

"Ten years. You had successfully deceived everyone. Why... did you say it?" In the depth of Qian Xu's eyes were amidst the rapid winds as if something was restlessly surged, wanting to rush out desperately.

Yes, everyone had been deceived!

Although the identity was fake, but every day in these past ten years was real. All the efforts and investments were real. Everything she obtained at Alicata did not belong to Princess Lorraine, but belonged to her.

"Because..." Lorraine knelt on the floor and looked up at Qian Xu.

The afterglow of the setting sun had gone. Darkness gradually emerged through the nightsky. He stood alone, all desolated, as if standing on an empty deserted wasteland. Not knowing where to come or where to go.

Lorraine stood up slowly and slowly walked to Qian Xu's front.

Qian Xu did not deliberately retreat. His body was tense and stiff. His pitch-black eyes were like a boundless night sky, deep as no end.

Lorraine's eyes were bright clear like shining starlight that ripped through the night sky: "Because I don't want to deceive you anymore. Because I want to genuinely know you. Because..."
