Chapter 21 - Rare Disease

Qian Xu's scarlet eyes were full of coldness. He lifted his claws to stab her.

Lorraine's whole face was full of tears. She shrank back in fear but still refused to shoot.

Suddenly, Qian Xu's movements became slow, as if power was rapidly losing from his body.

Scarlet eyes turned to black color at a visible speed that could be seen with naked eye. The bloodthirst and coldness in his eyes turned into suffering struggle. The hand at Lorraine's heart was shaking violently.

Lorraine shouted: "Qian Xu!"

He suddenly closed his eyes and fainted.

Lorraine was stunned for a moment. She hesitantly reached out her hand, wanted to touch Qian Xu, but Chen Sha suddenly appeared and threw Qian Xu out of the flying car with one hand.

Immediately afterwards, Feng Lin and Anna also rushed over. Feng Lin asked eagerly: " Lorraine, are you injured?"

Lorraine wiped away her tears and shook her head: "I'm fine."

Chen Sha leaned forward to support Lorraine, wanting to take her out and left.

Lorraine pushed his hand away and got out of the car herself. She looked worriedly at Qian Xu who was unconscious on the ground: "He... will be fine, right?"

Anna who was checking at Qian Xu had a solemn expression and did not say a word.

"It should be okay this time." Feng Lin picked up a disposable syringe from the car carriage and said downhearted. "When he noticed that he had something wrong, he had injected the medicine we developed in advance. But it didn't work, the mutation change still occurred."

Lorraine breathed a sigh of relief and asked eagerly: "What is actually Qian Xu's disease? The physical appearance was only partially changed but the consciousness was lost and had thirst for killing." The sudden mutation change would turn a person to a complete beast and lost consciousness without warning, became a full aggressive mutated beast. But for natural mutation, the physical appearance change would be partially animalized and would not lost consciousness. Qian Xu does not match either.

"His disease is very rare. Certainly, if it is not rare then he couldn't be admitted to the research institute. I temporarily call it a pseudo-abrupt sudden mutated natural mutation."

"What?" Lorraine knew various kinds of mutation very well but had never heard of this kind of disease.

"The patient may briefly enter a state of sudden mutation change. At that time when Professor An introduced Qian Xu to me, I thought his special circumstance should be helpful in sudden mutation change research for us, so he stayed."

Feng Lin looked down at the empty syringe and said in disappointment, "This is the latest medicine developed after your gene research. For so many years, the institute could neither help him nor made any research progress."

The medical rescue robot carried Qian Xu to the ambulance. Anna accompanied Qian Xu back to the research institute.

"I'll be heading back first. You send Lorraine back." Feng Lin greeted Chen Sha and was about to tag along

the ambulance back. Lorraine said hurriedly: "I will go back to the research institute with you."

Feng Lin persuaded: "You should go back and rest. Qian Xu's illness, at this time you can't help anything."

"I still have something to say to Qian Xu, I must wait for him to wake up." Lorraine insisted.

Chen Sha made a cut decision: "I will send both of you to the research institute."

Inside the flying car, Lorraine stared blankly lost in her thought.

These past ten years, she had wanted to ask Qian Xu countless times what kind of illness he was suffering with, but she had never asked. She was always felt like she was still unable to help him, hoping to wait until she became more capable and she would ask him later. She had never thought that Qian Xu's illness would be unexpectedly revealed to her in this way.

Feng Lin looked at Lorraine and then looked at Chen Sha. She sighed silently in her heart.

Lorraine suddenly recalled of something: "Who is the only case who regained consciousness from sudden mutation change? Can I participate in this case's research?"

Feng Lin didn't say a word.

Lorrain felt odd and asked tentatively: "The identity of the patient is very special?"

Logically explained for such an important case, the research should be very in-depth in all aspects. But every time when this case was mentioned, even personal data of the patient was no detail at all. Everyone only knew that there was a case of regaining consciousness and turned back into a human.

Feng Lin expression was solemn and respectful: "It was the first Consul of the Federation, You Bei Chen."

Lorraine suddenly wide awaked, it turned out to be the legendary man who established Odin Federation! The outsider only knew that You Bei Chen died of illness before he turned 300 years old, thinking that he was overworked. No one expected that it was because of sudden mutation change. If this spread out, it would definitely cause a mighty uproar throughout the entire interstellar. No wonder Odin had to strictly keep secrets.

Feng Lin said: "Because it is related to the Consul, the research has always been led by a specially assigned person. Now Professor An is in charge. Even I can only view the research results and cannot directly participate in the research. If you want to transfer to Professor An's research unit, I can help you submit your application, but..."

"It's no need."

Lorraine didn't want to access into such secrets at all. That was gene of the most amazing talented figure in the history of the Federation. Last time, because of two fruits, she was almost executed by the Al Empire. She had deeply realized that for the safety of her life, she had to stay away from rare gene!

However, after all, that was the only case that recovered his consciousness from the sudden mutation change. Although he still died later from the sudden mutation change, it certainly had reference value for Qian Xu's illness.

Lorraine gritted her teeth and asked, "Can I review Professor An's research materials?"

"They are all on the internal information network. I will help you apply for authorization. If you have special research needs, you can also directly contact Professor An and ask for his help."

Lorraine felt relieved. It seemed that the old professor had already well designed a process of procedure long ago. Not only allowed everyone to do research, but also unlikely brought risk.
