From the tainted glass, I could make out the security firm just a block away from where I was seated. The taxi abruptly stopped and I highlighted the vehicle, pulling a reeking black hoodie over my head as I made my way towards the building. I took one more look at the printed address I could barely read without looking behind me. I was afraid. He could be following me. Looking for the perfect time to attack me. Now that I thought of it, The streets were awfully quiet. Perfect for a monster to operate without being caught. There were cameras around the building but I doubted they worked. Without giving it a second thought, I sucked in air and pushed the glass panes leading inside open.
I was immediately greeted by a cold chill that ran down my spine. The inside of the enterprise was a very modern-looking reception area. The walls were bright white. Red carpeting covered the floors, plants were placed in every corner of the room, and different types of artwork and awards hung on the walls. Show off.
I noticed a giant desk that had a computer and several files scattered around. Assuming this was the receptionist's office, I walked up to the desk. The seat was empty but from the halls, I could hear a chatter. Taking deep and slow breaths as I clutched onto the business card, I waited. Soon enough, I felt someone walk behind me. The second I felt cold hands touch my shoulder, I shuddered and my instincts kicked in. My body went tense, my heartbeat quickened at a threatening intensity and I swiftly twisted to see who it was. I was immediately disarmed by the inviting smile of a beautiful brunette woman. Behind her were two of the most drool-worthy men I had ever set my eyes on.
"I didn't mean to frighten you." The woman apologized. "I assume you are Sienna?" She asked.
I simply nodded. Unable to stop gawking at the man with enticing blue eyes. I noticed his friend wasn't so pleased with my stares.
"I am Blair." The woman disclosed. "We talked on the phone." She continued to spew before coming in to give me a right hug. Her kindness shook me to the very core and I found my lips quivering as my eyes were filmed with a cloudy mass of tears. I was just about to whisper a thank you when Blair broke the hug and shoved me in the path of the men behind her.
"Christian, Rhys, this is Sienna Reid. The girl I told you about her earlier." She introduced me to them while gently leading me on to one of their rooms. As we passed through the polished door, I caught the tag 'Interrogation room'. It made my stomach knot. I knew I did not deserve the suffering. Nothing I ever did warrant that my entire life be probed by strangers. Once I was seated, I was a helpless damsel in distress. I couldn't argue so I just let what was sure to come to play right in front of me. The men, Rhys and Christian sat across from me and I swear, the scrutiny I was given made me have a mini break down. I tried hard to collapse and cry under their intense gaze. With everything that had happened to me these past few months, I hated being watched. It was difficult to hold still when all I wanted to was explode and gorge their albeit beautiful eyes out. I finally let out a sigh of relief when Blair sat between me and the men, breaking the hypnotic stare. I felt her comforting hands squeeze my arms as she spoke.
"Okay, Miss Sienna, can you tell us what happened?"
"Everything you know." Christian, the one who wouldn't stop giving me the ominous stare from earlier, said to me.
I looked down. Rubbed at my mind as I tried to remember the first time he made sure I knew he existed. A ball of raw emotions clogged my throat just reimagining that unfortunate night. I finally coughed the bile down, calmed my shooting anxiety, and finally explained my problem.
"Someone is stalking me. I found out ten months ago when he ransacked my house and left...and left threatening pictures. I have no idea who he is and not slightest inkling what he wants from me." I paused, sensing my paranoia was flying off the charts. I squeezed on to my black jeans as I blurted, "I am just a boring designer."
It came out wrong but it was true. My life had been on a beautiful repeat until he came into the picture. Now it was an unending nightmare that wouldn't stop no matter how hard I pinched. I took a breath, making up my mind to continue while I avoided the pity that was clearly written on their faces.
"Ten months now and he refuses to leave me alone. No matter where I hide, He keeps finding me, and frankly, I am tired of running. I am tired of hiding. So here I am, hoping this can at least be my last fighting chance against him and if it doesn't work, I'm done. No matter what happens, I can't take all the fear and stress anymore. It's driving me insane not knowing when he's going to eventually get his hands on me, I just can't…" I stopped, my voice went hoarse and broke. because her voice finally broke, Tears gracefully streamed down my face making Blair hand me a box of tissues. I whispered a 'thank you', wiped my swollen eyes, and waited to hear what they had in mind.
"Have you informed the police about your situation?" Rhys asked the most infuriating question.
I snorted at the ludicrousness of that question before sending a snarky reply. It was impulsive and it was out of my mouth long before I could hold my peace. "Of course, I did and I assure you, I would not be here if they did me any good. They investigated, but it was not through. I doubted they believed a word I said from the start and in the end they just assumed I was an attention seeker who went out of her way to make things up. Even though this sick freak had been in my home, ripped apart my undies, and written my name in blood all over my room and walls." I told them, leaving out the part where he somehow had me drugged while he masturbated and came all over my body.
It had been the one chance I had to let the police hear me out but I was too humiliated to report it. I was still humiliated about it, and it never failed to have bile rising in my throat and shame running through my body.
