As both of them finishes eating, Feliz and Linden drinks their champagne.
"Would you like to refill the champagne, Miss?" the waitress arrive at their table with a bottle of champagne.
"Yes, please." The waitress then pour out the champagne in Feliz glass on the table. Then the waitress look at Linden.
"How about you, sir?"
"Yes. Please refill it." Linden raises his glass for the waitress pour out the champagne inside. When suddenly a hand touches his hand. Shock, Linden lets go of the glass.
Pash!
The glass break in pieces on the floor. The sudden hand on his hand, make him feel disgust. Linden then glares at the waitress.
"I….I…I'm truly sorry, sir."
"Clean up this mess." Linden demanded. He didn't intent to make a big issue about this matter. He knew the waitress was interested toward him as she always looks at him with a seductive gaze since he arrives at the restaurant, but he ignores it.
"Ye…ye…yes, sir." Receiving Linden cold glare, the boldness of the waitress trying to seduce the handsome man suddenly vanishes in thin air. Now, she feels scare that she might loses her job. She hurries leave to clean up the mess. Linden then stand from his sit.
"Please excuse me, I need to go to the restroom." He didn't wait for Feliz reply as he walks away from the table. He knew all of focus is on him, as he can feel the stare from all of the customers in the restaurant, especially women. A whispers among women could be heard by him as he cross by them.
"Such a handsome man…"
"Indeed, is he single?"
"He's the most charming looking I ever beheld…"
The feeling of discomfort is starting to spread in his heart.
He hurries to the restroom. He washes his hand roughly as if wishing the disgust feeling disappear in his heart. But sadly, it doesn't. Suddenly, he remember someone. That someone who always make him feel conscious about his appearance. Linden look up to the mirror. Seeing his reflection.
'It's indeed a sin, to have such a face.'
Recalling that voice, a sudden goose bump feels on his skin. His heart became erratic. His breathing became uneven. Other people start to come inside the restroom. Linden then hurries inside the toilet as he locks the door. He tries to calm his heart, taking a slow breathe. He searches inside his suit. Linden curse himself as he realise; I forgot to bring my medication. He had to take time to calm himself. All that came inside his thought, is that he want to get the hell out from this place!
Linden decide to leave as the feeling of discomfort is growing inside his heart. When he arrives on the table, he found that Feliz wasn't there. He look around to see she's outside. He force himself to walks out normally from the restaurant, trying hard not to outbreak. As he was walking toward Feliz, he saw a little girl accidentally bump into Feliz leg as she was running. The girl fell flat on the ground. She starts to cry. The girl parent rushes toward the little girl. Seeing that, Linden stops his track.
"Oh honey, are you okay?" the mother ask her daughter.
"I'm very sorry, miss." The father apologized toward Feliz.
Both try to coax their little girl, but the little girl sobs grew louder. Seeing the parent situation, Feliz suddenly bend down by the girl height. She took out a candy.
"Here, an apology for making you fall." Feliz said.
Hearing what Feliz said, the little girl stop crying as she sniffles. Both her parent feel relief as their daughter stop crying. The girl then takes the candy from Feliz. She looks at Feliz with her big round eyes, smiling. Looking adorable.
"Indeed, your smile look beautiful." Feliz praise.
Hearing Feliz praise, the girl smile even brighter that even a smile curve on Feliz lip. Linden was stunned. His uneven heartbeat almost stops. He get to see the woman that always look expressionless, smile. And she smile only for the little girl. Unbeknown, the discomfort feeling dissipates in his heart. As he was in awestruck toward Feliz smile, the girl bid her farewell with her parent. The smile on Feliz face slowly disappear as soon as they are gone. Linden who was truly stunned, didn't react while his eyes remains toward Feliz.
Feliz then turn, to see him looking at her.
"Mr Linden."
Hearing her voice, Linden was startled that he realize his mistake. He cough to hide his embarrassment. He steadily walk toward her.
"Miss Feliz, why are you outside?"
"I need a fresh air." Feliz simply stated.
"I saw what happened….are you fond with children?" Linden asks, as he look the couple with the child walk away. They look very happy. 'Such a happy….family.' A sudden thought came in his mind.
"Yes." She said, as her focus on him. Linden then look at her. Both stare at each other. When suddenly, Linden utter;
"You have a beautiful smile."
Feliz look shock, as her eyes lashes fluttered. She broke her gaze, as she look down. Linden seem to realize that he unconsciously said something he shouldn't have said, was equally shock. Suddenly, the atmosphere felt awkward. He's at loss of what to say.
"Thank you." Feliz simply said. Hearing that, Linden could only blurt out a single word.
"Um." As he nodded his head.
Linden was lost in his thought as he slowly awake from his mind. He remember his reason from coming out from the restaurant. Before Linden could tell her his intention, Feliz cuts him;
"This is perfect to digest the food. Would you like to walk with me, Mr Linden?"
Linden was startled at her suggestion. He looks around. Indeed, the area has a lot of places to venture to. The idea seem not bad. Better than sitting inside the restaurant being the centre of attention.
"Sure."
