Chapter 1 - Task

"Now, let's congratulate our best student who have successfully incited five humans to commit a massive theft. Not only that she also managed to incite the thief man to pit against fellow human beings. Congratulations to Zavina for her achievements!"

The host's voice sounded so excited when he mentioned her name. Zavina, who is still standing behind the curtain, raises her chin high, showing her pride.

The festive welcome was followed by a loud noise by her schoolmates. Her classmates, who were proud of Zavina's achievements, stood and clapped while whistling.

Zavina comes out from behind the stage curtains in her grey robe. A red sling with the inscription 'The 274th Force Year's Best Participant' is perched on her left shoulder. Zavina steps in with high confidence.

Zavina glances at her classmates who scream the most excitedly. The young girl was standing in the middle of the stage. The very old principal of Lucifer Academy walks up to Zavina. Next to her stood an assistant who helped her carry an award medal.

Zavina ducked as the medallion hung around her neck. The principal named Sillia was smiling proudly and amazed. Then pat Zavina on the cheek. Zavina smiles back. After receiving the medal, Zavina walks to the back of the podium, preparing to give a speech to her friends.

"I feel very happy and honored to get this award. I can't deny that on the way to this high point it was very difficult. There are many obstacles that I have to face. Many voices demean my ability to be a half-demonic human being. Not a few are also underestimated. However, today I managed to silence them all with achievements. I'm proud to be who I am. I hope you're all proud of who you are. For all of you who feel at their lowest point, remember. One day you will be at the highest point until people will only be able to lift their chins high to see where you stand, not to demean."

The sound of applause grows louder after the motivation given by Zavina. Her two best friends Mill and Julian sobbed to hear Zavina's sweet message in front of her. The two of them also hugged each other. They are living witnesses of Zavina's struggles since the entrance exam test to Lucifer Academy. They are also the ones who defend and arouse Zavina's confidence whenever someone demeans her.

"I didn't expect that Zavina would be there right now," Mill said.

"Yes. I didn't expect it either, Mill. But surely Senior Gillian is more unexpected," reply Julian.

They both turned in the same direction. Towards the special seats for all seniors. Senior Gillian is one of the pure devil's descendants who always insults Zavina. She and her club members never stop bothering Zavina. Today, the face that normally clogs that annoying grin full of insults, looks sour. More sour than sour oranges.

When Senior Gillian turned towards them, they both lifted their chins cavalierly. Reciprocating their senior's sharp gaze with a mocking stare. Senior Gillian screeched and stared back at the front of the stage with her hands clasp slowly.

"I'm sure Senior Gillian will no longer underestimate Zavina's abilities. If she still does, of course she has no shame at all," Julian said.

Mills nodded approvingly. Her eyes still glanced at Senior Gillian, then said, "Maybe next time we should give her a mirror."

Prime was watching his juniors do their job to steer people down the path of goodness. As a top-level senior, Prime must ensure the steps taken by his juniors are correct. Especially now they are testing the rate increase. Ten Junior Angelus that he guided, must pass all. Prime who love perfection won't tolerate the slightest mistake. They are angels, they should have done everything perfectly.

"Junior Max, you can't tell that man in a forceful style. He'll think you pressed him," Prime said flatly. His flat face and lack of expression made Junior Max ducking. He's been reprimanded twice. And this second assessment, made him really embarrassed in front of his friends.

Prime's eagle-eyed turn on Junior Qarl. "You're also, Junior Qarl. You can't take over a job that humans are supposed to do. Your job is to get them to the path of goodness. It's not your job to save that poor woman."

"But if I don't give help, the woman will fall into the abyss, Senior Prime. I couldn't bear to see them just let her go like that," Junior Qarl replied.

Qarl's index finger points to a female human figure who looks shocked as she is about to fall into a ravine during the bus crash. The people around him seemed to be trying to calm down. Some of them questioned the supernatural power that saved the life of the lucky woman.

Prime glanced at the woman. Then his view goes back to Junior Qarl. "You know why I won't let you save her?" Junior Qarl shook his head in doubt. His mouth was ready to answer his senior questions, but he was undone.

Prime approaches one step, "Because when you saved that woman's life, you just changed the thread of her destiny." Prime rests his chin behind the bodies of the Junior Angelus. Simultaneously his ten juniors looked back.

The angry expression of the Angel of Death greets them. Junior Qarl swallowed his saliva. The Angel of Death, named Damian, looked at him sharply. In his hand carrying a sickle, he was beheaded. Told Junior Qarl indirectly not to interfere with his affairs.

"Do you understand now, Junior Qarl?" Prime's question was only answered with a stiff nod from Junior Qarl. His face still stares at Damian in horror before returning to look at his senior mentor.

"I know, Senior Prime. I will never repeat it again." Junior Qarl's index and middle fingers were pointed upwards as a form of seriousness.

One Prime's eyebrows raised. Then he sighed quietly. "You've heard the promise, Damian. You can leave now."

Damian screeched loudly. He walks closer towards the calm-looking Prime. "Next time teach your son not to engage with human destiny," he said.

Prime patted Damian on the shoulder and nodded. "They're still in their first year. Just be informed."

"Didn't you ever tell them?"

"I've told them. Maybe Junior Qarl forgot." When mentioning his junior's name, Prime stares intently at Junior Qarl. Quickly Junior Qarl nodded justifyingly.

Damian screeched once more. Then he went towards the people in groups. Damian pulls a white thread from the tip of the woman's head. Instantly the woman drooped and lay on the side of the road. People were seen panicking and trying to provide first aid. Junior Qarl was stunned to see him. His mouth was wide open to surprise.

"That's the result if you change the fate of someone's death, Junior Qarl. She will still die the other way."

"What- is she dead?"

Junior Qarl doesn't need an answer. Prime's view of the woman and the panicked screams of people have given him an answer.

She was dead.
