Chapter 22 - Chapter 21

"Aren't you going to fit these clothes?" Rico asked as Anna ran towards the bathroom as a sense of dread came over her.

She went into the lavatory and began belching the contents of her breakfast. The hairs on her neck stood up and a chilling wave of cold tendrils ran over her spine.

"What's going on?" She asked herself.

It seemed like the more she kept on fighting to hide her dark secret, something or someone suddenly comes in and persuades her to unleash her darker side. The letter in she read in particular had another thing that came along with it… a scent.

A dark, musky scent. She only whiffed a faint smell of the scent, however, that little hint of musk was chaotically destroying her concentration. Suddenly, she could feel the beast inside her awakened. She could hear a soft growl inside her head while hurling the food out of her system.

Worried, Rico followed in the bathroom and saw her messy situation.

"Are you okay?" Rico worriedly asked.

"I am." Anna answered while vomiting the rest of her breakfast.

"Are you preg—" Rico curiously asked.

"No! Of course not!" She answered back.

"Oh my goodness!" Rico exclaimed. "Have gotten your period yet? Wait a moment… You should still be in—"

"I am okay!" Anna pushed Rico out of the bathroom, closed the door in front of him, and locked it. "I will be okay…just stop…bleurrghhh!" She hurled once again.

"Oh…okay!" Rico said. "But I'm going to the pharmacy just to be sure!"

She cared less of what he said and was much more worried of the beast waking up once again. After painting the lavatory with her insides, she immediately washed herself and went back to bed. She wanted to throw the clothes away but was afraid that the sender might be spying on her and might do something worse.

She left the clothes on the kitchen table and never bothered to pick it up again. Anna's head throbbed violently and felt her knees were going jelly. She slumped on her bed and closed her eyes as the world around her swirled. She tried her best to control the nauseating feeling of her anxiety.

It took her awhile to calm down, but after she did, she went fast asleep.

She opened her eyes at the sound of the beeping phone.

She reached out her phone from the mountains of pillow and blanket on the side of the bed. She finally found the phone and turned-off the alarm. Her head was still throbbing, and it could've gotten worse due to the shrill sound of the beeping alarm.

She closed her eyes and tried to continue her nap, when she suddenly heard a knock on the door.

"W-who is it?" She asked as she covered her head with a pillow.

Nobody answered.

She groaned as she went back to sleep. Just as she was about to sleep, there was another knock on the door and this time it was louder.

"Who is it?!" She shouted.

No one answered still.

"Babe, if this is one of your pranks, now is NOT the right time!" She warned.

The knocking began once again.

With a pillow on her hand, Anna stood up from her bed and stormed into the living room.

"Not funny, Babe!" She spat. "My head is about to crack and here you are trying to make it worse!"

She opened the door only to be meet by nothing. There was no one in hallway, and it was awfully dark, darker than pitch. It was eerily cold; a jolt of coldness ran down her spine.

"H-hellooo?" Her voice trembled.

Her voice simply echoed in the dark hallway. She immediately closed door and placed the locks. Her heart was beating fast as if she ran a mile. Her throat was parched as she dragged the table to block the door.

She ran back to her room and tried to get her medicine when suddenly she saw herself standing atop of the bed. She could feel the sense of impending dread. The figure stared blankly at the bed while standing at the foot of the bed. Her body froze as fear crept in.

She tried closing her eyes, but her body was too stubborn to follow her command. She watched in terror as her doppleganger turned to her with a grim smile on her face. The double's mouth moved; however, she couldn't hear a word she was saying. One thing was certain her double seemed to want control of her body.

The double stared at her eerily as its body slowly morphed into the monster she thought would never return. Her hair grew longer until it reached the ground. Her arms and legs morphed into longer appendages. Anna could hear the sound of bones breaking and reforming to accommodate her transformation. Her nails also grew longer along with her teeth.

Her grotesque transformation was partnered with her grisly scent of rotten meat, blood and piss. The monster tore her mouth as she smiled widening the smile literally from ear-to-ear. Blood began dripping from its mouth.

Anna tried to scream, but no voice came out of her. She stood there frozen in fear. The monster's eyes glowed as its hairs rose like limbs, outstretched and ready to attack her. The hairs clumped together and formed spiky tendrils and was about to stab her when she finally woke up.

Anna gasped for air, as beads of sweat rolled from her forehead. Her head throbbed worse than before, and her eyes burned from her tears. She ran into the bathroom and drank more pills than her usual dosage. She opened the tap and splashed water all over her face. The cold water eased some of her headache but was still throbbing hard. She took another dosage of her medications before taking a deep breath and closing her eyes once again.

"Are you okay, Babe?" Rico interjected.

"OH MY GOD!" Anna jolted from the lavatory and almost slipped into the toilet. "RICO! Damn it!" Luckily, she was able to hold on to the wall.

"I'm sorry… I was…" His poor boyfriend fumbled for words. "A-are you okay?" He asked thoughtfully.

"Y-yes…umm… just a little bit startled." She answered. "Uhh… can you… g-give me a minute to ugh… recover…" Her voice was still shaking.

"S-sure…oh ummm.., here are the kits." He gave a variety of plastic wrap kits to her.

She gave Rico an annoyed look before ordering him to go out. Rico went out of the bathroom confused but was still patient enough to leave her alone. Anna was now alone and stared blankly at the ceiling afraid of what was about to happen in the future, especially with that dream popping once again.
