Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

Anna sat silently on her seat across the handsome doctor. She wasn't sure what to tell him or where to start. She stared at the floor, recalling what happened a few days ago. She could hear the doctor consistently tapping his pen on his chart as he waited for her.

She took a glance at him and noticed his deep, piercing brown eyes. His eyes felt like daggers and yet at the same time, his gaze felt reassuring. Dr. Mariano's eyes were both of fire and ice. It was intense and drowning, but at the same time there was a calming charm to it.

"Ahem." Dr. Mariano cleared his throat. "Would you like to have some water first?" He pointed at his dispenser.

Anna hesitantly nodded. She didn't need it, but she immediately grabbed a cup and went to the dispenser to drink a few glasses of water. When she was finished, she went back to her seat and took a deep breath.

"Doctor, I am ready." She sighed.

"Good." The doctor answered while staring at his blank chart. "You can now start."

She took another deep breath and began to relay to him the peculiar events that happened to her. She paused and tried to gauge the first thing that would come out of her mouth.

"A-a few days ago," Anna began. "I…I was craving way too much than what I wanted to."

She paused and bit her lip. It was an unpleasant experience for her to be talking about these things. However, there was this strange magnetic aura coming from the handsome doctor that abled her to courageously describe what happened.

"I craved for raw flesh…and—" She gazed at Dr. Yano once again.

"Carry on." Dr. Yano met her gaze. "You don't have to worry about anything."

Anna took a deep breath and narrated the strange scenarios she had. She told him the beastly voice growling inside her. She told him how the voice would assert itself to control her body. No matter how ridiculous the story was Dr. Yano simply nodded and asked her to carry on.

"…And then, I suddenly transformed." She stated.

"Transform?" Dr. Yano clarified.

"Yes, transform." Anna nodded. "Like…morph into something."

"Hmmm… go on." Dr. Yano nodded. "What about these transformations? You mentioned the beastly voice takes over you when you transform?"

"Yes, it takes over me and then…" She glanced at him once more. "...then my body would convulse, and I could feel every muscle and bone in my body break and expand… and…I feel my nails and teeth grow sharper." She took a deep breath as she bit her lip.

"So, have you seen your grotesque form?" Dr. Yano asked.

"Yes." She nodded. "It was the most horrible thing I've ever seen." She answered.

"Were you not able to control these transformations?" Dr. Yano asked as he jotted most of her answers on his chart.

"There were moments…" She tried recalling it. "… that I was able to."

"I see." He placed the chart and the pen on his table and looked at her straight in the eyes. "Can I speak to this beast you mentioned?"

"What?" She found the request too ridiculous. "Y-you know it would be very dangerous to call it out here!" She tried discouraging the young doctor, but unfortunately, he wasn't fazed.

"I-I don't know how to get it out of me." She sighed. "Mostly it growls and snarls when its hungry, but I never noticed it do those right now."

"Interesting." He squinted. "Let us take a quick break, shall we? I know those questions were too overwhelming for you." Dr. Yano smiled at her.

Anna nodded and laid her back on the cushioned seat. While resting, she also heard the good doctor calling her secretary asking her for tea for the both of them. A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door. Dr. Yano opened the door, and the secretary went in with a tray filled with cookies and tea. The secretary placed it on his table and smiled at them before going out.

The good doctor smiled and offered her some refreshments. "It's a calming tea. I hope you'll like it."

"Thank you." She smiled at him and took the tea from the tray.

They ate and drank silently. It was an awkward break to say the least. However, it did calm her and gave her a feeling of security just by sipping the yellow-colored tea. Their tea-time ended as quickly as the day was getting longer. Dr. Yano went back to reading his notes leaving her awkwardly silent, sitting on her chair and fumbling on her phone.

Dr. Yano cleared his throat and stood up from his chair. Anna couldn't help but be mesmerized by his mysterious magnetism. She felt like an invisible magnetic force was pulling her towards him. It could be of his manly, yet pretty face or his excellent physique, but it wasn't that. There was just something in him that she couldn't place a finger on.

"Would you mind laying down over here?" Dr. Yano patted the long chair.

"S-sure doc…" She said hesitantly. "But what are you planning on doing?"

"Nothing much to think of it as a threat." He answered as he sat on a separate chair located at the other end of the long chair.

Anna stood up from her chair and reluctantly walked towards the long chair. She laid down on its soft cushion. She immediately closed her eyes the moment she laid down on it as the glaring light from the windows reflected exactly near her eyes.

"Does the light hurt your eyes?" He asked in a calming voice.

Anna nodded as she tried covering her eyes with her hands.

Dr. Yano stood up from his chair and covered his windows with the blinds attached on it. As the office became darker, she felt more relaxed. It was a weird reaction considering the fact that he just met the doctor, and this type of session should've been done on the second meeting not on the first. But who was she to judge his professional decision?

Anna laid down comfortably on the cushioned chair. She took a deep breath and tried to focus on herself and the task that the doctor wanted her to do. She tried to call out the beast inside of her, but no matter how many times she called it out, it never showed itself.

"Are you ready?" Dr. Yano said.

"Yes, but I can't seem to call it out." She answered back.

"You don't have to stress about it." He said. "Let me call it out for you." Dr. Yano said calmly.

Anna wasn't able to see the doctor clearly, especially with the current darkness of his office, but one thing she noticed weird was his eyes. For some reason, it glowed a deep ethereal red. His eyes seemed to be piercing her, but it might be possible that she was just hallucinating. She's not sure.

"Okay, beast or whoever you are…come out and play." He said.

Suddenly, Anna heard a growl from inside her. She took a glance at Dr. Yano, but at that point she blacked out and only a pair of glowing red eyes was the last thing she saw.
