Her smiles were like a thousand cherry fields but even those could not compare with her beauty.
How could I have fallen for such a creature?
"Good. You're awake," she grumbled before I could open my eyes.
"How did you know I was up?" I asked, opening my eyes as I stretched lazily. "I had my eyes closed all along."
She tapped on the ground, "I can sense vibrations. Your heart beat changed when you became aware of your surroundings."
Woah! She was amazing.
Sitting up to take in my surroundings, I noticed that we were in a large cave as huge trees shot to the roof. Large stalactites bounced light from the opening of the cave to the surrounding areas. It was magnificent.
"Here," she tossed a gourd over to me which I caught flawlessly. "Nice reflexes. What are you? God, demon, magician, Xaj, Demigod..."
"I don't know yet," I replied before drinking the liquid from the gourd. She laughed at my reaction to the sour taste of the liquid.
"Obidiah," she chucked out.
"What is?" I asked dropping the gourd distastefully on the ground.
"The drink. I made it from Obidiah. It speeds up the healing process."
Raising my brows in surprise, I was flabbergasted at how resourceful she was. Obidiah was a poison apple, but she had somehow turned it into a medicinal drink.
A growl rumbled through the forest breaking my silent appraisal when I remembered the beast I had fought with earlier.
"He must be hungry. I'll be right back," she whined to me before taking her leave.
Sighing at the empty space she had left behind, I laid back on the ground with my hands behind my head.
"YOU LIKE HER HUH," he noted to which I blushed. "WHY DON'T YOU TELL HER? IT'S NOT THAT COMPLICATED."
It actually was, I mean, I just met her and I still had feelings for Queen even though she was dead. I felt like I was cheating on her, it would not be fair to anyone dead or alive. This feeling would pass away that's for sure.
"IT WON'T," he declared as I jumped to my feet in anger.
"Don't you have anything better to do than torment me with my own thoughts?"
"OH NO, I'M ACTUALLY HAVING LOTS OF FUN WATCHING YOU DIE IN SILENCE," he guffawed. "AS LONG AS YOU'RE STILL WELL IN BODY, I HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. YOUR PERSONAL LIFE MEANS NOTHING TO ME HUMAN."
"You do know my parents are gods right? It makes me a god as well," I sighed, walking to the entrance of the cave.
"EVEN URANUS IS HUMAN WHEN COMPARED TO ME. EVERYONE ON THIS EARTH IS HUMAN BECAUSE I AM THE ONE TRUE GOD OF DESTRUCTION. THE REST OF YOU ARE WANNABES."
I didn't have time to argue with him. I needed my sanity and the environment brought that to me. Nature truly was beautiful.
"Hey!" I heard her scream out from the sky. "You should be in bed."
The dragon hovered above her as it growled out in agreement.
"I'm totally healed up. The drink helped."
"You still need to rest," she stated, descending slowly with the dragon swooping down before her.
"How's he doing?" I asked ignoring her points.
"He's okay. At least the major injuries have been healed up. Thank you."
"Ahhh, it's nothing," I grinned widely as Callipso chuckled in me. What was his deal anyway?
"Come," she held out her hand, beckoning on me to climb the dragon with her. "Let me show you around."
How could I refuse such an offer?
"Sure," my lips replied as I accepted.
"Have you ever ridden a dragon before?" She laughed watching me struggle to find my balance on the green beast.
"No," I blushed.
"That's okay," her voice squealed in delight. "I'll help you through your first dragon ride."
Without much effort she jumped over the back of the dragon, holding its mane tight while motioning me to hold her waist.
"Hold on!" She yelled out as the dragon growled before taking to the skies. The trees around rustling violently at the force of the dragons wings with dust billowing around us. It didn't take long before we were soaring through the skies away from the island and into the open waters.
"Where are you going?" I yelled against the wind. "Thought you wanted to show me around."
"I will," she answered. "When we get breakfast. Gilgamesh is hungry and I'm guessing you're hungry as well."
Breakfast? I woke up this morning before battling Gilgamesh.
"How long was I out?" I inquired.
"Two days!" She answered half wittingly. I had been out for two whole days and she had not thought of calling me up?
"Why didn't you wake me?"
"Cos I couldn't wake you up. You told me with a scary voice not to disturb you. You said you needed time to sleep and recharge the powers you had lost?"
I had said that? I had no memory of that. Callipso might have taken over my body giving out responses without my knowledge.
"YOUR BODY NEEDED TIME TO RECHARGE MORTAL," his voice boomed in my head. "YOU DRAINED YOUR LIFE SOURCE TRYING TO SAVE THE DRAGON."
'I wonder whose fault it is,' I thought sarcastically.
"We're almost there!" she pointed to a waterfall with rainbows screaming brightly over it. Fishes flew down the fall with splendour showing their rainbow coloured tails.
"How are we going to catch the falling fishes?" I asked. "We have no baskets."
Smiling over her shoulders, she gave me a sly smile, "You'll see."
With that the dragon swooped downward, making her whoop in delight while I screamed in fear. Yes I was invincible, but this was still too risky.
Coming to a halt at the bottom of the fall, the dragon pushed us over its back into the water below as it flew into the fall, positioning itself in a vertical manner swallowing anything that fell from the cliff.
"Now that's how you hunt for breakfast," she cheered the beast on, flying into the fall herself to get the sea creatures.
Watching the both of them play and have fun under the waterfall made me see a new light in everything. The green footed dragon which was a stone cold killer and the mysterious girl who had powers beyond my understanding. They may be a force to be reckoned with but they were also living, breathing creatures that could live in peace and harmony together without strife if peace was created. I watched them reenact paradise before me. The paradise I was taught, the paradise where dangerous creatures and weak mortals played together without anger, envy or jealousy and it made me smile. I thought of Ang and Georgey. Mina, Gop and all my friends. My village parents, Queen, my real mum and everyone I had lost. My heart hurt with the pain of losing so much.
"YOU COULD HEAL THAT PAIN BY ACHIEVING YOUR GOAL YOU KNOW," he whispered in me. "KILL THE KING JUST LIKE YOUR FATHER WANTS YOU TO AND EVERYTHING WOULD BE ALRIGHT."
The rage I had felt in the snowy mountains returned as the water around me started to evaporate.
"Hey!" I heard her scream over to me.
"What is it?!" I yelled back.
"Come join us hunt," she replied, distracting me from my emotions. I was grateful to have her around. She had saved a life.
Without hesitating, I jumped towards the fall, catching a fish midair while getting hold of the cliff as I pulled myself up. Standing atop the fall, the view was amazing. I was beginning to love nature more and more. Nothing could beat this scenery before me. It was like a painting had come to life. The rainbow, the waterfall, the birds in the sky, the trees around the river below, the mountains which loomed in the distance, the sun in the sky, the moving white clouds, the rushing waters — everything.
The gods were not that bad when you looked at what they had created. I smiled knowing that those wicked deities had some sense of beauty left in their souls.
