Chereads / The Hidden Noble / Chapter 84 - Salvage a moment

Chapter 84 - Salvage a moment

[sh*t] Alden suddenly realized what he had just done; if he had starred only. Then perhaps he would be able to catch his dignity before it fell.

But hollering across the hallways in the presence of guests from the Capital would only reaffirm their suspicion that nobles who do not live in the Capital are merely bumpkins.

[Think Alden, salvage this moment]

'ahum' He quickly cleared his throat and walked straight to his chair at the center.

As he walked, Alden felt his back is drenched with sweats; the standing guest, who did not know what to do or say, could only stare at him as he passed them.

Where his chair is located, a small table stool is beside it containing a bronze bell; as he arrives, Alden picks the bell and rings it.

[this should save me] He thought

On the other side of the entrance, Lucas stood still and watched it all happen from start to finish; His expression didn't change much; Lucas somewhat grew accustomed to the Lord's short outburst. This type of surprise impulse was not new to Lucas. For the past few months, Stewart Lucas had learned a great deal of information from his Lord that even he thought it was a supernatural miracle. Therefore he had merely assumed that his Lord discovered something that shook him, or perhaps it was one of his Lord's mysterious magical words that he uses as cursive.

Evaluating his Lord's uncouth demeanor, Lucas did not think much of it. He heard the bell ring and quickly ran to Alden's side; he leaned in to listen.

Alden proceeded to murmur to Lucas; as the guest noticed this, they regained some clarity and did not think much of the Young Lord's actions. They, too, merely felt a hint of unclean manners but brushed it aside, seeing as it was likely something that does not concern them.

They are all from the Capital; they encountered much harsher treatment with young noble children and grown-ups. Most of them are not born nobles themselves; They are simply merchants with wealth and power, yet their influence is not of an equal footing to Nobles. Such display of poor demeanor would not jeer them to have an antagonistic view of this young noble.

Furthermore, these merchants would instead let such manner happen, seeing as they are the ones who sought the audience with the young Lord of the city; they are the ones who are seeking to gain favor from him.

Aside from the murmuring, the guest had already chosen their seats after the Lord had taken his; it is customary by law and ethics to stand when someone of higher status is present.

Time had passed, yet the enigmatic environment of happy chatter resumes among the guests; The tables in front of each seat are full of hot tea and adorned biscuits; the maid served them elegantly. Pleased by the swift Lord's actions, They enjoyed it along with smiles. However, only the elven woman had kept her distance and isolated herself; for whatever the reason was, the guest seemed not bothered by her actions. This was all observed by Alden, feigning a dialogue with Lucas.

[an elf]

[An actual elf woman] Alden thought, a master of multitasking, primarily focused on elven women.

[shes beautiful] He thought

Elves are strangely beautiful people even upon closer examination. They have perfect features that no other creatures of creation have.

To Alden's knowledge, elves are mythical creatures that appear to be human in nature but have magical powers and do not age or at least age very slowly. It appears that elves have their origins and European folklore on earth. They are known as a luminous group of individuals who have a fair complexion, fairer than humans.

Alden's eye would sometimes sneak a glance towards the elf woman. Affirming the myths in his head. His thoughts of conversing with the elven woman overwhelmed today's important business proposals. Alden even had the idea of having the elf women stay in his castle.

By force or by will, right?

Then a surprise happened; the elven woman, far-reaching as she seems, opened her eyes, emerald gemstone colored eyes, glanced, and turned her gaze toward an unknown distance. Alden observed her line of sight towards where she had looked.

At first, Alden was oblivious to the rest of the guests, and he did not pay much attention to them. It was only because the elf woman had wholly robbed his attention as he ignored the rest of the people. His vision was blurred as his attention solely focused on the elf women. He quickly shifted his eyes towards where the elf women looked and saw a young man no older than twenty years of age.

Black, sleek hair slightly reveals a handsome face; appealing to him is his sheer confidence and whity look. He wore a long brown coat, and on his boat tie is a sort of handkerchief that hangs on his neck; in the ordain capital city, this sort of fashion was considered the now and happening. All the young and wealthy wore this type of dress. Alden thought if this young man had been born on earth, he would most likely be a Korean pop artist.

[They must be together] He thought.

Along with the young man, Aldan finally had a better look at the rest of the people, one woman, and four men. One young and the rest are old, presuming in their 50s.

The young man was in verse chatting, but his eyes were sharp enough to see the elf woman glancing at him; he nodded at her; on the table was a tiny silver spoon; he grabbed it and made a rattling noise on the tea held on another hand.

*CLING* *CLING* *CLING* *CLING*

[ohhh]

[I guess their patience is running short] Alden thought, As a noble, Alden would not consider this a rude gesture; it was quite typical for the guest to bring attention to the one they sought audience with.

Seeing this, Alden gestured to Lucas to stop and brought his attention to the young man who drew them. The guests also did the same; they put their best smiles towards the young. The elf woman went back into her mediated state and completely again distanced herself.

If Alden did know any better, he would have fallen to this scripted stir; he was a salesman in his previous life, he knew too well about setting the right mood to catch a big fish.
