Chapter 53 - Waiting

While Aragon sat near the table, Ivar had just entered the hall. Egnav was also with him, and they both walked straight toward the table, after noticing Aragon.

Ivar sat beside Aragon and greeted him. Aragon nodded his head. Aragon has only spoken to Ivar a few times since becoming acquainted with the Rhaet family. It was brief and not many pleasantries there.

"Yo, cousin." Ivar initiated the conversation.

Aragon didn't respond and continued to drink, taking a sip.

"I heard that a large number of members will be coming from that place."

"And you know," Ivar leaned sideways towards Aragon and said in a low tone, "that means there will be a lot of women." Ivar grinned and then gulped down the glass of ale.

"Hehehe, Aragon, why don't we fool around together? After the wedding, all of us will be drowning in ale. Then we can go look for whoever we want." Ivar was beaming with smiles, and he was pouring the ale into his mouth continuously.

Ivar was always an easygoing person. For him, enjoying his life came first. From a young age, he got everything he wanted. He slightly changed right after he was announced as the next chieftain. Ivar had a newfound sense of responsibility, taking up the mantle of chieftain with enthusiasm and dedication.

Egnav was always with him, taking care of him. As Ivar grew into the role of the chieftain, his newfound sense of responsibility extended to Egnav, and he treated him as if he were part of his own family and supported him as if he were his brother.

Aragon quietly listened to his continuous chatter. And Ivar wasn't paying attention to Aragon, whether he was listening to him or looking around.

The three were the only ones at the table, and everyone else had apparently left. Soon the sun went down and it was night. Darkness began to take over the room slowly, and Ivar's conversation gradually ceased.

Tomorrow was a wedding, and all of them went to take a rest for the big day. Although there was a dull atmosphere in the room, Ivar's enthusiasm for the wedding tomorrow could not be dampened, and he soon went to bed filled with joy and anticipation of the day ahead.

Rhaet and Katheryn were still in the room, talking and arguing about the event about to happen.

Everything was in place, and all of them seemed ready for the next day's event.

Mosce and his son were staying in the inn. Now they were both in a room upstairs. A few men in armor were standing at the door with a long iron spear each. They seemed to be the soldiers guarding the room.

Inside, his son was lying in bed with his hands under his head. He wasn't sleeping, and his father was sitting on a chair near the table in one corner of the room. The room was spacious enough for the bed and the table.

Mosce was talking to Calvon, and the talk ended soon, and Mosce left the room for his. Calvon stared at the door for a while and then slowly closed his eyes.

The wedding day was just a few hours away. And both parties were coming together with underlying motives. It will all be unveiled tomorrow. Mosce and Calvon had a rather brief conversation, but it was tense and filled with hidden meaning.
