Chapter 203 - Further comprehension

The next couple of days she had many insights into her martial arts and the world around her.

She was able to see many different things she was unable to before.

Martial arts are not only based on the human body and the forms but to suit who the enemy is and the environment too.

In ancient times if it was true that the first martial artists fought off the beasts then their martial arts was designed solely for defeating the beasts in their own environment and then later when humans gained the upper hand and turned on themselves they focussed more on martial arts that could kill their fellow humans.

The same was true for different opponents and environments where they have different types of styles and nature of qi that clash with one another or have an advantage over the other.

Ki based her martial arts from wood and poison based martial arts and added a little of the snake forms but she also had her previous experience with the blood sects martial arts that traded small wounds for killing blows.

Later she was inspired to learn the drunken style to increase her unpredictability but that did not mean she forgot her roots and instead merged her previous attainments into the style to maximise her lethality and control while also remaining relaxed in battle.

As she continued to experience many other things she came to the realisation that some things could not be controlled completely and she just had to adapt to the changes.

After training for a couple of days Ki had left the city and headed across the snowy lands and also towards the icy plains and began to practice her sword and palm forms once again.

The deep snow held her feet in place and made her movements difficult to manoeuvre so she had no choice but to use this to her advantage.

The weight of the snow on her feet and legs helped to root her in place while she changed her sword or palm forms but other time when she moved she needed to time it right to pull her foot out from the snow just at the right time in order to avoid an attack or change the form to increase her swords power and then place her foot back down without exerting too much energy into it.

The more she had practiced the more efficient her movements became and the less flaws she had with every passing moment.

The same was true for the icy plains which were slippery and it was difficult to stay standing.

Practicing the sword forms there was very difficult but she found ways to make it work for her.

In some cases keeping her body stable was needed but other times she had to just let go and let nature act as it pleases when the time is right.

Many images of past battles flickered through her head as she practiced her forms on the ice.

Some times she acted as if she parried or blocked an attack and she slid back as if she had been pushed back by the force or she used the force to redirect herself towards another location while deflecting the imaginary opponents weapon.

Other times she would give way to the slippery nature of the ice and use it to her advantage.

Sometimes she would fall to the front, back or sides and use the force of the fall to force her body to travel away from her opponent or out of the way of an attack and then she would strike an an opening.

Other times she would look like she had begun to fall but instead she had slid while still standing or on her knees to dodge an attack and then aimed towards her imaginary enemy or enemies.

The next couple of days she continued this training to adapt to her environment and gain a greater mastery of her martial arts forms.

Before long she thought about the martial arts of the north which had to grow used to this environment to gain an advantage over those who were not from the north so when they fought they would have the advantage.

The same was true for the central lands who had many sects who trained up in the mountains at high altitudes with thinner air so they need to learn to breathe properly and conserve their strength.

The eastern people have to adapt to the grassy and dirt filled lands that have many beasts, trees and other things so they have no choice but to develop their own way of fighting.

The southern people spend most of their time on the seas so they need to be able to battle while on a ship and within the unpredictable waters where there may be rocks or waves hitting the ship at any moment so they need to be able to keep their balance and adapt to the sea.

The desert people have to adapt to the heat so have to be careful not to burn through their energy and the water in their bodies but at the same time they have to handle fighting in the desert where the sand makes it more difficult to walk through.

Each culture has their own way of adapting to suit their environment and to gain an advantage over their enemies.

So instead of keeping this weakness, Ki decided to work on a part of her weakness and make it a strength.

What others could do she could do it too and then she would make it her own.
