Chapter 27 - The Davis Who Wanted to Leave

Although the captain felt that these three people were a little cunning and were more or less suspected of avoiding the battle, he really did not have the authority to keep the soldiers of the other battalions forcefully. Therefore, after thinking for a while, he finally replied, "Your thoughts are in accordance with the army regulations of the corps, but as I said before."

"I don't know the exact location of your battalion commander and squad leader, but the good news is that the Atlanteans in this area have definitely evacuated. It will be much safer for you to look for them. You can leave this soon-to-be-abandoned position!"

"However, this doesn't mean that it's 100% safe. You have to think carefully. It might be safer to stay with us."

After being allowed to pass, the three of them were extremely happy. They did not care about the other party's warnings and reminders at all.

Right now, they only wanted to leave these desperadoes immediately. This also meant that they did not have to go to that Highland that was 100 kilometers away and risk their lives.

As for where to go, it was still their freedom!

They suppressed the excitement in their hearts. Instead, they saluted the captain and the other Vulture warriors with a serious look on their faces. Then, they carried the automatic rifles on their backs and left.

Looking at Rayen's back, the sergeant shouted, "Kid, don't die! I think there's still room for improvement in this mecha!"

Following which, a series of whistles sounded.

It was said that this kind of behavior was only done when the Vulture Corps separated from their brothers. It meant that they were sending them off.

...

They lost their squad leader and their battalion commander.

The three of them were completely free now.

They walked quickly on the battlefield covered in corpses and kept collecting the 'individual soldier bags' of their dead brothers.

There was a lot of jerky in there, which was used by the soldiers to satiate their hunger.

Although it was quite disgusting, the battalion commander still thought that this was the greatest masterpiece of their many years in the army.

The feeling of satiety was indeed very strong. Moreover, it could guarantee that anyone who ate a few slices would not feel hungry for a day.

"Quick! Powell! Let's see if there are any cigarettes and binoculars again. The ancient gods and brothers will forgive our disrespect! This is for survival! Damn it! What are you doing with the books? Now we don't need knowledge!" Fatty Davis' voice kept coming out from the pile of dead people.

At the side, Rayen was collecting the ammunition and grenades for the K-40 automatic rifle. Now that his future was uncertain, he felt that more weapons and ammunition could bring him a sense of security.

At this moment, Davis ran over with a grin. He shook the thing in his hand and said, "Hey! Bro! Look what I found! This is tomato sauce and canned fruit! So we finally don't need to eat dried meat anymore tonight!"

After nodding, Rayen frowned and said, "Our load is limited. You and Powell should collect more ammunition. Even that captain said that they might not all leave this place."

His words made Davis very surprised. He saw this fatty's face contort for a moment before asking, "Brother, what's wrong with you? Don't tell me that we really have to look for Steven and Battalion Commander Li, right?"

However, the fatty's words made Rayen even more surprised. He looked at the fatty from the corner of his eyes and raised his eyebrows before asking, "Otherwise?"

"Oh! My God!" Davis exaggeratedly held his head as if he was very disappointed by Rayen's answer. But, then, he said, "Brother, can you stop for a moment and quietly listen to my thoughts?"

Rayen ignored him and continued to search for ammunition.

Looking at the other party's appearance, Davis sighed. He said helplessly, "We have to start from the beginning! Think about how we came to the barracks? Are you willing? Or am I willing? Powell! Are you willing?"

Powell, who was holding a bunch of inexplicable things, answered loudly not far away from them, "No! I hate the barracks!"

Davis snapped his fingers and continued, "Look! No one wants to stay in the damn place! And none of us are willing to be cannon fodder! Brother, let's go while no one cares about us! Let's go to Bay City, that's my base camp!"

"With your skills and my connections, you can definitely create something better. We can get women and wine!"

Powell ran over and said, "I...I want to go with you guys too! Whether it's the military camp or this place, it's too bad! I also want to go to Bay City to see the world!"

However, unlike these two excited fellows, there was not a hint of joy on Rayen's face.

In fact, it was not that he had not thought about this. The moment he had just left the fourth battalion's team...the first thing he thought about was how to leave this place where he could only receive 200 imperial coins a month and had to endure the disgusting food.

More importantly, there was no threat to his life.

He also thought about using the exchange of military ranks to fake his own death. After all, many people were buried under the ground. After a long time, no one would be able to identify the owner of the corpse.

But reality told him that it was impossible.

After sighing, Rayen picked up a pistol and pinned it to his waist. He said, "Don't think about it. Let's just look for them. We can't leave this place..."

Just as Davis and Powell were about to persuade him again, Rayen unfolded a map in his hand.

When the two of them saw where they were, they were instantly stunned!
