Chapter 31 - The Reappearance of the God of War!

The three of them had been heading south ever since they had left their defensive positions.

However, they had not found any 'living brothers' throughout the day.

Along the way, they had not seen any living bodies other than the corpses of many of their fellow soldiers and the Atlanteans.

This made Davis and Powell very depressed.

Rayen was as happy as if he had found a treasure!

It was not that he was a pervert who liked corpses.

What was really fascinating was the weapons left behind by the Atlanteans.

He wanted to see if these things could be used and what kind of weapons they could make.

After all, the three of them did not even have the most basic battle clothes. They did not feel safe if they did not make better weapons.

So at his request, the three of them brought some cold weapons.

Then, before the sunset, they arrived at the jungle shown on the map.

This was not as wonderful as Rayen had imagined. Although the green grass surrounding them, they did not feel much life.

Except for a few birds, they did not see a single animal on all fours.

Davis, who had wanted to hunt some game to improve his food, was very disappointed.

After setting up a small tent in a small forest, the three of them gathered in front of a small fire and made a pot of soup with tomato sauce and boiling water. They ate dinner with the beef jerky that was as hard as stone.

Davis only felt disgusted as he drank the 'tomato soup' in the kettle. He cursed, "Damn it! This is the first time in my life that I'm drinking this kind of crap!"

Powell did not take out any biscuits this time. He just sat at the side and ate. To this little guy, safety was his biggest wish. As for what he ate, it was not important.

Similarly, Rayen did not care. He held the beef jerky in his mouth as he leaned on the grass. He looked at the starry sky and enjoyed the rare peace.

Ever since he joined the Vulture Corps, he had never enjoyed such peace.

However, the moment he closed his eyes, he recalled the shocking scene during the day and the corpses on the ground. He felt like he had survived a disaster.

Luckily, he survived.

No matter what, he was lucky. As long as he found his squad leader or battalion commander, he would be safe.

Although he could not avoid the possibility of going to the battlefield, at least someone would protect them.

Just as he was thinking about his own matters, Davis came to his side, this fatty drank a mouthful of tomato soup and said, "Brother, don't tell me that we really have no way to leave the battlefield? If we really find Steven, we might be dragged onto the battlefield with a big beard. That would not be a good thing."

Levi said, "There's no other way, brother. You've seen it yourself. We didn't even see a decent vehicle along the way. All of them were completely destroyed. There's no way for us to put them together, let alone use them.

"We'd better go to bed early and rest up. We'll set off tomorrow morning to continue looking for the squad leader. This is the safest strategy." After saying that, Rayen killed the two mosquitoes standing on his arms.

Davis shrugged and did not comment. He smiled and said, "That's all we can do. I really hope that the war is over by the time we find them. I'll keep watch that night. You can take over in three hours."

Rayen did not reply. He just nodded in agreement. After yawning, he got up and went to the campfire to lie down and close his eyes. He was really too tired.

Powell had already fallen asleep with his head resting on the two Atlantean spears.

Davis, who had no one to talk to, could only light up cigarette after cigarette in the dark forest around him.

...

Rayen gradually woke up in the haze, but his surroundings were pitch black. There was not even a bit of light.

When a scarlet light shone on him, he realized that he was not in reality.

After rubbing his sore head, he found that he could move freely in the dream again.

"This again..." He did not understand why the 'God of War' brought him here at this time. Looking at the endless darkness around him, he was no longer as afraid and uneasy as before.

Soon, the ethereal voice sounded again, "Not bad, Kid, I don't feel fear from you..."

Rayen cautiously looked at the pair of scarlet eyes in the air and said, "I'm not a little girl, there's nothing to be afraid of! But why did you bring me here again? War, the God of War?" He had never been a person with faith, but now that he had seen a real god, he was still amazed by the wonders of this world.

Ten seconds later, the voice sounded again, "Kid, I'm the guest, this is your dream..."

Rayen did not say anything immediately after hearing this, because he realized that the God of War seemed to be different from the last time.

Although the shape was very strange, there was a 'bridge of nose' between his eyes! There was something like scales on it.

"Why don't you come out from the darkness? Can't you let me take a look at you?" Rayen asked curiously.

But the other party's answer made him a little surprised. "I also really want to come out...when you can see my real body, it completely depends on your hard work, my contestant..."

When Rayen heard the word 'contestant', his brows knitted together.

He did not understand what this meant at all.

After thinking for a moment, he asked, "What does this mean? What contestant?"

Hearing this question, the God of War, who was hiding in the darkness, narrowed his eyes and said, "Although I'm very surprised that you can match a contract, I can confirm that your memory isn't very good..." His breathing was very heavy, it made Rayen's eardrums itch a little.

After a pause, the God of War said, "I said last time that because your dead life will strengthen our strength, have you forgotten?"

"Now you used the power I gave you to make thousands of people lose their lives, and that's exactly what I need. Death will nourish my body, you did well..."

Rayen simply could not believe his ears!

Using death to nourish the body?

This...could this be a devil from hell?

He recalled those rumors about devils, and felt as if he had fallen into a devil's den!

He unconsciously took a step back, and the fear in his heart returned because he was not sure of the other party's identity now.

The God of War had long anticipated the astonished expression on Rayen's face, it said in a deep voice, "Also, don't think that I don't know what you're thinking. I'm not one of those filthy demon spirits. Your reaction is blasphemy to me. I'm warning you, don't think that way anymore. I've killed more than one of my own contestants..."

The other party's warning was accompanied by a mysterious power that became more severe. This was enough to make Rayen's heart beat wildly!
