Chapter 21 - Fierce Battle

On the way through the thousands of meters of trenches, Rayen and Davis saw the bodies of many Vulture brothers along the way.

Their deaths were very tragic. Some of their heads and bodies were even chopped off!

After looking at the incision, Rayen quickly determined that a greatsword and a sharp ax caused it.

"F*ck! The Atlanteans are indeed barbaric. Are they butchers?" Davis shouted angrily.

Although he was afraid, a flame of anger burned in Rayen's heart.

However, the miserable corpses of the mortal world road behind them could not help but vomit.

While Rayen and Davis were in a daze, they completely did not notice that a wave of arrows from the sky had already attacked their direction!

"Watch out!" At this moment, a Vulture soldier above them suddenly jumped down and threw them to the ground, blocking several arrows with his back!

"Ugh...!"

"Brother!" After coming back to his senses, Davis grabbed the collar of the wounded soldier and tried to drag the incapacitated soldier into the defensive hole beside him.

The four recruits behind him were hit in the head!

They fell to the ground and screamed in pain!

"F*ck!" Rayen roared and increased his strength to save the Vulture soldier who saved them with Davis.

"Medic! Someone is injured here!" Davis' voice was full of despair.

However, this soldier tried his best to raise his head and shout at them.

The continuous sounds of heavy machine guns caused their hearing to drop greatly. They did not know what this person was saying at all.

However, Rayen was still able to deduce what he wanted to say from the other party's mouth, 'Let go of me! Run!'

Run!

An ominous premonition instantly enveloped Rayen. He took a deep breath and discovered that this soldier's body seemed to be flashing with a red light!

"Damn it!"

Without explaining, he immediately put down this soldier and used his hands to loosen Davis' hands. Then, he pulled this fatty and directly jumped into the fortification hole!

Without waiting for Davis to rebuke him, several explosions sounded outside the hole!

Boom! Boom! Boom...

The dust from the explosions almost blocked the hole!

The dust made the two of them cough non-stop!

"Cough, cough, cough...!"

After recovering, Davis looked at Rayen in horror, obviously asking what had just happened.

Rayen patted the dust on his helmet and said, "That...that arrow has an explosive device on it!"

Then, he used his hands to dig out a corner of the hole, grabbed an arrow that had lost its arrowhead, and said, "Damn it! There's a specially-made miniature explosive on it!"

Because of the contact between his hands, the numerical list of this weapon was also displayed in his mind.

[Weapon Name]: Explosive Arrowhead

[Model]: An art conventional weapon

[Characteristics]: After being hit, if it is not pulled out within five seconds, it will cause a small area of explosion.

[Damage]: 100% (ineffective)

[Materials]: Art crystal, dark steel, miniature concentrated explosive, detonator...

[Completely damaged, no modification plan provided.]

Davis looked at the arrow in disbelief and said, "What kind of technology are the art people have? It's too weird!"

"Get out first!"

After Rayen shouted, the two immediately began to dig up the remaining dust at the entrance of the cave.

When they finally saw the light again, the scene in front of them made their backs turn cold!

In this not-so-spacious tunnel, there were corpses everywhere!

Some of them were the ones who saved their soldiers, and some of them were recruits!

The ground was covered with chunks of meat and human parts covered in blood. It was a horrible sight!

"Oh my God!" Davis punched the fortification and panted heavily.

Rayen forcefully held back the boiling acid in his stomach and shouted toward the empty tunnel, "Recruit Squad! Is there anyone alive?!"

But after a few seconds, no one answered them.

"F*ck!" Rayen scratched his hair and was so angry that his whole body was trembling!

The mission had not even started, and eight people had already died!

The battlefield was indeed full of danger!

Just as they were carrying the bodies of the soldiers who had saved them into the hole to rest in peace.

Suddenly, they heard a sound coming from the pile of corpses.

"Cough cough...Davis! Big brother Rayen! Cough cough cough..."

When the two people who heard the voice realized that there were still people alive, Davis immediately rushed over and pulled a small man out of the pile of corpses.

Afraid that the arrows would attack again, Davis directly pulled this guy covered in the blood into the hole.

"Powell! Are you okay?"

Facing Rayen's inquiry, Powell shook his head with tears in his eyes and said, "I...I'm fine. I just caught up, but I don't know why it exploded! Anton...Antonio was blown up in front of my eyes! Oh! My God! I'm going crazy!"

After saying that, Powell covered his face with his hands stained with blood and mud and cried bitterly.

Looking at this guy's appearance, Davis and Rayen did not say anything, nor did they blame him for being timid.

After all, Powell was just an eighteen-year-old street vendor who had not seen much of the world.

All of this was already too cruel for him.

After Davis examined the body of the other party, he let out a sigh of relief and said, "You're really lucky, kid..."

Perhaps it was because he was quite far from the explosion point, or maybe it was because the other brothers had used their large bodies to block the explosion for him, but this kid did not have any decent wounds on his body.

After burying the Vulture brothers' bodies together and giving a simple thanksgiving prayer, Rayen turned to look at Powell and said, "Follow us closely later. Do you hear me?"

In the recruit squad, the people that Powell trusted the most were Rayen and Davis. So now that he could be with them, he naturally felt more secure.

Thus, he hurriedly nodded his head.

At this time, Davis suddenly realized something and said, "Why didn't this brother who saved us wear a mecha like those people in front?"

Regarding this point, Rayen had long noticed it. After thinking for a while, he guessed, "This brother is only a private. His military rank is not high, and the number of mechas is limited. Therefore, we will not give it to him."

Just as Davis was about to curse at the higher-ups of the division, they faintly heard shouts from afar.

"I don't have any more ammunition! Ammunition! Aren't the soldiers from the casting camp here?!"

After hearing the Vulture brothers' call, Rayen was prepared to leave this place and head over to support.

However, a powerful hand immediately grabbed him. Without waiting for him to turn around, Davis said, "Brother, it's too dangerous outside. Why don't we just hide here?"

Powell, who was beside him, was also very satisfied with this plan. He nodded his head again.

"Of course not here!" Rayen explained while searching for his automatic rifle in the soil. "Davis! Were you stunned by the explosion just now?

"The wounds on the corpses just now mean that the Atlanteans must have charged to this position. If we don't support the front, when those lunatics charge over, we will still die! Why don't we support everyone and defend against the attack! This is the true safety measure!"

As soon as Rayen finished speaking, Davis lightly knocked his head and said, "Hiss...I'm really stupid! Those wounds were obviously caused by cold weapons. How could I have forgotten!"

After digging out two automatic rifles from the ground, Rayen gave one to Davis and emphasized to Powell, who had a terrified look in his eyes. "Listen, follow us closely!"

After drilling out of the hole again, the three of them did not care who the ammunition box belonged to. After picking up a few of them, they bowed and trotted toward the place that Steven had given them.

The three of them who were running in the trench soon heard the shouts around them.

"Damn it! Give me ammunition!"

"Hurry up! Grenade! Don't let them rush over!"

"Private! Rifle ammo! Hurry!"

"Private! This way!"

When Rayen passed by a high place and fired, he immediately opened the ammo box and threw a few magazines into the air.

"Good job!" The soldier in charge of the sniper praised before grabbing one of the magazines.

After changing into it, he began to fire crazily again.

Davis was the strongest among the three. He used this advantage to throw more than a dozen magazines around the soldiers who needed them.

Powell was stunned. He exclaimed, "Davis! You're so accurate!"

"Hehe!" After throwing another magazine, Davis laughed. "Young man! I used to be the number one pitcher of the Bay City baseball team!"

Rayen's words quickly interrupted him. "Stop talking nonsense! Quick! We need machine gun ammunition up ahead!"

Davis was very tall. He raised his head just to take a look, and his face revealed a shocked expression. "Damn it! Quick!"

He was looking at the right side of the sniper rifle.

Because of the lack of ammunition, five or six of the heavy machine guns had already stopped firing.

The Vulture Warriors could only raise their limited K-40 rifles and set it into 'continuous firing mode' to resist.

The crazy Atlanteans immediately discovered the weakness of their position. One of them, who looked like an officer, waved his long knife and the warriors behind him rushed over!

In such a dangerous situation, even Powell, who was the least courageous, ran to support!

Because anyone who was not blind could see that if they lost this position, the other defensive positions would be attacked from both sides!

If the well-armored Atlanteans were to break through this defensive line and engage in close combat, none of them would be able to escape!
