Lily took a shaky step away from the monster. She had probably gotten the monster's attention with the light from her hand. She wanted to at least turn the light off to give herself a bit more time. She tried shaking her hand, but the light would not go away. Vines reached out for her but hit an invisible wall before reaching Lily, causing the vines to bounce back at the monster.
There was a brief pause before the monster bared its teeth at Lily. She fell backwards. The monster turned its head away from Lily and towards where Ezra was.
She let out a sigh of relief before realising Ezra was in danger once again. Lily got back onto her feet and forced herself to run at the monster, her hand still shining brightly, illuminating the dark forest. She extended both hands forward, remembering a similar sensation to when she was in Babil.
She vaguely remembered that in a panic, she had managed to push through walls somehow.
