They had reached the Outer City the next day. After one more night of rest at the Outer City, the excursion finally commenced. Each team would split up and stay a certain distance from the forest. The goal was to observe any changes in the terrain from a distance. If they were to spot any monsters, they needed to note it down. It was a simple activity that would expose students to the sight of monsters.
With the Seventh Expedition just being announced, imbuing this knowledge into the youths was imperative. These students were likely one of the forerunners for becoming a part of the expedition. Certain conditions were put into place to ensure the student's safety. One such measure was pushed to be implemented by a rather influential family. That condition was for the students to remain far away and only to observe and log any monsters they saw.
This made the excursion rather... monotonous.
