The disaster brought about that night was dubbed by historians as 'The Purge of Ether', a disaster which many people knew of, but the details remained mostly unknown.
The extent of people's knowledge regarding the Purge was that the then Inner City was destroyed. Many lives were lost.
Many speculated that a fire was involved, seeing as most of the houses were left charred and black, burnt to the ground.
Some speculated that a dragon had attacked Inner City during a massive monster invasion. There were remains of what looked like monsters, which suggested that maybe a fight had occurred.
A dragon could have appeared, blazing the city to the ground. The other aerial monsters could have also invaded, killing and denying any hope for human survival.
These were all speculation from The Eye witnesses left that day.
They swore that they saw a fiery figure, but it was likely to be a dragon's fiery breath.
Historians believed that the disaster was brought about because humans had overstepped their bounds with the monsters. The reason remains unclear, and the humans continue researching what exactly happened that day.
Meanwhile, after the Purge, there were efforts to restore what was previously Inner City.
The remaining mages banded together to help with the rebuilding effort. Inner City was cleaned up, the houses and skeletons of monsters and humans alike.
They tried their best to clean Inner City and rebuild on it, seeing as it was the centre of Ether.
With the danger present in the monster attacks, the humans stopped expanding.
They feared another event like the Purge, so most people retreated from the Outer Cities.
The dwindled human population gathered mostly in the new Inner City, renamed to the 'Capital'. The middle cities were also occupied.
The Outer Cities which were abandoned were left there untouched. Occasionally, there would be sightings of smaller monsters like Goblins.
