I didn't know that Alex had a special move.
Especially, an energy move, which shocked me, considering that he was not really that good in controlling energy.
But it was an awesome move, as that small glowing point exploded right before Brad like a bomb, and the shockwave was strong enough to push me back a step.
Brad couldn't take it, and was sent outside, where he collided with an arena wall, and collapsed down on the grass.
I looked to the arena, and as the dust of the explosion cleared, there stood Alex, a faint purple aura illuminating his body.
Jimmy smiled, and said,"The first match is over! Our winner has emerged! Alex picks up the win, taking him to Round 2! What an explosive finish to the match, and an explosive start to the League! This can only hype me up even more, and I know all of you are looking forward to the rest of the matches!"
The crowd cheered for Alex, as he grinned and walked to the waiting room.
"That was one heck of a move." I slapped his back as we walked inside.
"Thanks." He said.
"Any injuries or bruises?"
"Nah. Might wanna check that kid out though. Hit him with a literal bomb out there."
"Yeah. Also, how are you not injured from the explosion?"
"Oh, I used a little bit of my energy to build a protective covering around me."
"So, that move, was not the best of what you could actually do?"
"More or less." He shrugged.
I nodded, and slightly shook my head. Never did I even think that Alex would progress so much in this much time.
But if he did, then I must have too. And I could still go further.
My thoughts were interrupted by Brad, who walked slowly towards Alex, favouring the left side of his chest.
"Hey! What was that move?" He shouted as he approached Alex.
"Not much, just all of my energy exploding on you."
"Whoa, that's intense, and yeah, my chest does hurt a lot."
Alex laughed,"Don't worry, you'll be alright. And you gave me a pretty hard fight there!"
"I know. What was it that you said? Thar I'm good, but you're better? Well, next time, you'll be good, and I'll be better!"
"Sure."
Brad chuckled,"It was a good match. All the best for the next round!"
Alex nodded, and smiled. Brad moved out of the waiting room.
"How do you manage to change your opponents to your friends?" I asked with a smile.
He smiled back,"Guess it's my luck, that I'm getting friendly opponents," and frowned,"and you're getting airheads that always want to smash you apart."
He pointed to a man who was walking towards us. Round face, buzz cut, small and squinty eyes, dotted moustache just above his lip, pointy nose, large body, buffed muscles. The guy looked like a bodybuilder who hadn't worked out recently, and was gaining fat.
The guy stopped in front of me. Black tank top, green track pants with white strips on the side, and combat boots. He wore a costly looking watch on his right wrist.
He sneered at me,"John Will, ain't you?"
His voice was gruff, yet squeaky at the same time.
I nodded,"And you are?"
"Call me Richard, or Rich. You'll be facing me in this round. I hope you at least give me a good warm up, before I squash you and the others!"
"You're overconfident," I said, with a slight smile,"Do you really believe in yourself that much?"
He snickered,"It's a fact, that you'll be squashed by me. And it's another fact, that I'll win this League, and bring glory to Mira City! Now, the question is, do you believe in yourself that much, to think that you even stand a chance against Rich James?"
I chuckled,"Why believe, when it's the truth? Of course, I stand a chance against Rich James. And it's no small chance either. I'm gonna win, big time."
His eyes narrowed,"You're saying that to the guy who aced all the entrance tests and beat up half of Class A, to take on the throne of Mira's Institute. I am the best. I'll definitely not go down to the likes of scum like you. Do you understand?"
"We'll put that to the test during our match."
Our faces were nearly touching, and we stared each other down intensely.
"We sure will," he said, and turned his back to me,"See you later, scum."
He walked off.
"This guy beat up half of Class A?" Alex said, surprised,"So, he's the main guy from Mira."
"Yeah."
"Aren't you worried?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because this guy's a bully."
"Yeah, so? He's still comparable to Collin!"
"But I'm not scared of him."
I actually wasn't. I'd developed a special hate for bullies, ever since seven years back, when I'd been bullied a lot that time, and no one was there to help me out, except for Alex. Ever since then, bullies had a special place in my heart. And that place was definitely not pleasant. Even if this guy was as strong as Collin, I didn't care. He had to go down.
We watched the fights taking place. The fighters were skilled, and pit on great fights, and many fought tooth and nail, and won closely.
It was time for Collin's match. He was paired up against a guy named Jordan. Jordan had a good build, dark skin, white hair, grey eyes, and was a great fighter from Ontas. He'd come first in the obstacle race, so most of the audience rooted for him. Jordon nodded to Collin, but he just smirked back in response.
The match began. Collin didn't take any stance, and just stood there, looking around, as if he was bored. Jordan wasted no time, however, and ran towards Collin to begin striking. Collin dodged every single strike thrown at him, and took the fight very lightly. He began playing with his opponent, shoving him around after dodging strikes. Jordan wasn't happy about it, and decided to take things further.
A purple aura similar to that of Alex covered him, and he began shooting several small beams from his fingers. However, Collin dodged them too.
Collin simply toyed with Jordan for the next few minutes. Jordan kept trying, Collin kept toying. Finally, Jordan went for a reckless move, out of frustration. He went for a punch to Collin's face, but missed.
That's when Collin striked. One hard punch to Jordan's gut, and the guy doubled over. Another swift kick to his head, and he collapsed.
Collin walked out of the ring, as Jimmy went up to Jordan to see what happened.
"Jordan is unconscious! He's been knocked out! Collin Easton wins!"
Collin smirked, as he walked past me, looking at me dismissively from the corner of his eye.
Finally, it was time for my match.
