Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

The sun would be setting at dusk, a purple orange and pink hue would leave the blue sky to gain a deeper blue. Otashu and Zu, sitting by the campfire, would be roasting up the fish that Zu had caught earlier that day. "So, Suka, what is it you plan to do tomorrow?" Zu would ask as he took a bite into the fish. "I might go for a night-walk through that trail" Otashu would say as he pointed to the trail behind the tent.

"Seems like a fun idea, but I might not be able to make it by the time you go for that walk" Zu would reply in a calm yet tired tone in his voice. Both Yawned as the sun's last golden rays hit the tent, it was soon dark out, "Night Suka" Zu would wave to Otashu. "Night Zu!" Otashu would shout back, thinking of what to do, still having tons of energy. Otashu would get up from his chair, and sneak past the tent to the trail early. As he was walking the trail, 38 minutes away from the campsite, he would see something, something covered in vines, leaves, and twigs. "The hell is that?" Otashu would move closer, inspecting the object that looked like a chest.

The closer he got, the more he noticed it was an abandoned and old chest. Rust covered the metal lining the chest's metal guard, the lock, oxidized from the air and rain over time. The wood, looking worn and rotted from nature. Mushrooms and Fungi would cover half the chest's oak wood, "I wonder what's inside this chest." Otashu would say to himself. As he reached for the oxidized lock, it would fall off the moment he touched it. "Guess this chest is that old, the lock seems to have weakened." Otashu would lift the rotted lid carefully, trying not to break its already damaged wood. Inside would be a glass bottle with lichen wrapped around it, a purple liquid would slosh around inside as he lifted the chest's lid father up to take a close look.

He would peer inside, seeing the glass jar more clearly. It's shimmering glass now faded, lichen wrapped around the lid, and scratches around it everywhere. Otashu would put his hand into the chest and pull out the small glass jar, pulling it to his nose to take a sniff. "God damn, this stuff reeks of mildew!" he would holler out in disgust. Otahsu would look back the way he came from, making sure that Zu had not followed him, looking back at the jar.

"It would not hurt to see what it tasted like, right?" He would ask himself. Otashu would lift his free hand up to where the cork was, and pull it open. Moving the jar closer to his mouth, feeling the liquid slide down his throat.
