In position 1-010 where the Legendary spell, [Reaper Summoning], was used in battle four months ago.
The place was experiencing a lot of activity, people were going up and down busy with something.
The Arinese forces were using this place as an Forward Operating Base, they were very close to the final defence line, thus it was decided that it would be used as FOB number 1.
Since the heavy losses in position 2-003, Arin had been regrouping.
They were sending new soldiers who would be in charge of the position since most of the people who were in charge of attacking position 2-003 were killed.
However time for regrouping was ending, there were rumours that Commander Wells was in position 2-003, personally commanding.
The rumours also stated that she would be sending the order to attack very soon.
Thus everyone was ready to go and have their revenge for what happened in position 2-003, and people in FOB number 1 had seen evidence of a trump card mage unit inside the FOB.
They were just not sure which trump card mage unit was inside position 1-010.
Inside of a tent in position 1-010.
"Grey, I had what you told me checked. I must say, Francesca Crawford had enough reason to have you killed even at the risk of her life."
Captain Hans Ignocia said to Grey with a smile and amicable face, which highly contrasted his face when he wanted to kill Francesca.
Grey did not say anything, he just nodded to the Captain.
Grey just kept a straight posture as he listened to what the Captain had to say, the now 15 year old Grey, had a height of 1.76 metres and still looked good in his military uniform.
"They had not started the verification process due to the war, in fact they had not even reached it. As you had guessed, your research would have started the verification process a year from now."
The commander had a smile when he thought of the research that Grey had told him about.
"I had used some of my accumulated prestige to ask the person in charge to bring forward your research in the verification que."
The commander laughed about the situation, he had hardly used his so called prestige to ask for favours, it was his first time doing that.
"Sir, I thank you. How long will the verification process take?"
Grey asked with a calm face.
Captain Hans Ignocia paused for a few seconds to think.
"It should take about six months for the process to happen."
'Our Arin has finally unearthed a genius on par with Gavin Vermont and the mystery artifact designer. Given enough time to develop, he should lead the next generation of our Kingdom. The fact that the young man is calm and the results of his work has not gotten to his heard is a good indication of his mentality.'
Captain Hans was thinking to himself with a smile on his face, whilst Grey just nodded in understanding of the six months verification period.
When the [Battle Of The Black Tomb] as the Arinese people called the battle that happened in position 1-010.
The battle was called like that in remembrance of the deed done by Prince Alexander Wilhelm Arin.
Grey had been called in by Hans Ignocia in order to understand what made Grey special, such that Francesca would risk her very life in order to kill him.
To understand better, we have to go back four months ago to view the past.
Just after the battle, with thousands of people dead on the battlefield.
Hans called Grey into his tent, Grey was still missing an arm and had bandages on the stump and on his head. Hans was seating in front of table with a serious face as he looked at the young man.
"Grey Gram Reporting, Sir!"
Grey entered the tent and announced himself.
"Seat down recruit."
Grey did as he was told, and sat across the table looking at Captain Hans with a calm face.
"Now, why not tell me about yourself and why that woman felt you were special, such that she would risk her life to have you killed."
Captain Hans had an oppressive aura surrounding him.
'Is he pressuring me? Or is he angry at Francesca?'
"Sir, I am a Magic Ring Master. I also dabble in spell design."
In this conversation, Grey had decided not to lie, it was impossible to deceive a tier 3 mage as a tier 1 mage. Captain Hans would be able to see through any sort of lies.
"Continue."
Captain Hans said in a deep voice.
"Francesca Crawford had noticed me and my team as we fought other tier 1 mages, but she was more interested in me after I had fought and killed a Crystal mage genius."
"Oh? I guess that can get you spotted by her."
Captain Hans agreed with Grey, but the oppressive aura in the tent did not get removed by him, he only reduced its intensity.
'At least he not unreasonable. I hate those types.'
The fact that Hans had reduced the aura told Grey that Hans was giving him the benefit of the doubt and would continue to listen before making any decisions.
"Francesca had noticed that my light type spell were different when compared to most spells many tier 1 mages use. The fact that they were more stronger made her think that the only thing that could make them stronger was my Magic Ring."
"Oh, really now?"
Captain Hans increased his aura as he scrutinised Grey very carefully.
'I have not lied to him so far, now I have to lead him where I want him.'
Grey kept looking at the Captain as his aura reduced again, allowing Grey to continue.
"That was true, I am using what I would call a very special Magic Ring, the design is much more different than what most tier 1 mages would use."
"Continue."
Captain Hans seemed very interested about this magic ring that Grey was talking about.
"Sir, I have designed a Magic Ring for tier 1 mages that does not only strengthen one spell but multiple spells. The design can strengthen two spells at tier 1. The research of this magic ring has already been submitted to the military for review and verification over one and half years ago."
Grey stopped talking to give the Captain time to understand what he had been told.
'Multiple spells strengthened. A rare Magic Ring design. Submitted for verification. A 14 year old did this?'
The Captain looked at Grey like he was looking at a ghost.
"If the submitted Magic Ring can strengthen two spells, I believe the one you are using must strengthen more spells?"
"Yes Sir."
The Captain did not ask how many spells can it strengthen.
'Every mage is allowed to have secrets, and if he is not lying which he is not, the submitted magic ring research should be enough to allow other Magic Ring Masters to design magic rings that can strengthen more spells as well.'
The Captain looked at Grey like he was looking at a treasure.
"Recruit Grey, you said you submitted this research for review and verification over one and half years ago?"
"Yes Sir. I believe it is because of the war that is slowing down the process, it should reach the front of the que in about a year and a half from now by my estimation."
"Thank you for you honesty recruit Grey. Take this. You are dismissed."
"Thank you Sir."
Grey saluted the Captain and took a bottle that seemed to have a golden coloured fluid inside. Grey knew what was inside the bottle thus he did not ask, only thanked him.
Grey left the tent to look for team six and to see a medic and have his arm dealt with.
"Adjutant!"
"Yes Sir?!"
Captain Hans shouted for his adjutant, which made the male look at him with an inquisitive look.
"I want you to get me all information you have on a recruit called Grey Gram. I want you to also get me in touch with the person in charge at the Main Military Academy.
"Yes Sir."
That was how the conversation went between commander and subordinate, now back to the present.
"Grey how was the potion?"
"Sir, the potion worked very well, I should reach tier 2 in about four months."
"Good."
