The team of six charged towards the Centre at Hadley's orders, the few remaining mages from FOB number 03 doing the same.
Grey could see some tier 2 mages were missing from the initial approximately 100 mages and Percival was one of them who was missing.
Grey could observe June with his awareness, she was together with the petite 1.58 metres Qila Stein, they were looking worse for wear.
Grey was no longer panting with tiredness and his heavy usage of mana was no longer prevalent, as he looked at the battlefield, but he was starting to feel mentally tired.
'This should be less of a pain without [Mana Pulse Radar] always draining large amounts of my mana, making casting other spells a literal pain.'
Grey had used [Mana Pulse Radar] which is a tier 1 combination spell made out of light type spells.
This spell created his super accurate awareness that made him view everything at the same time and anticipate all attacks that are aimed at him, during the initial battle.
The spell required a lot of concentration, because unlike [Air Dome] which relays information if there is anything of relevance in the dome.
The spell always showed him a 360 degree view around all the time, straining him mind.
"The battle will end soon… Keep fighting!!!"
"Dogs from Arin, you shan't pass!!!"
"Protect the outpost!!!"
Even though the Right Wing and Left Wing had retreated to the Centre, the Ruhenese were not ready to surrender.
They still had high morale and could still give forces from Arin a bloody eye, especially since who were left were the elites.
When the mages from Arin reached in range of their enemies whether they were regular humans or mages, they started attacking with their spells, the same could be said for Grey's team of six.
Grey started by casting tier 1 combination spell, [Hell Flame Chains], multiple chains made out of crimson fire shot out in front of Grey wanting to ensnare and burn any person who came closer.
Alice and Bon followed Grey's lead, firing attack combination spells towards other enemies.
Alice had used [Raging Storm Weapons], weapons made out of lightning and wind were fired randomly at the Ruhenese mages and regular troops.
Bon had used [Concentrated Corrosive Rivers], the spell expertly targeted people to force them to be burned or captured by Grey's spell.
The rest of the team were more focused on defence, Sharon and Ilse were leading Grant to exactly that.
BOOOMM!
"Be careful of that hot steam!!"
However their attack plan did not work because the crimson chains met giant serpents made of water, big explosions followed as they collided together creating large amounts of steam.
The water serpents looked like they had a lives of their own as they moved to stop the motion of the crimson chains in every move, their motion was much better when compared to Grey's chains.
'The other side seems to have a very skilled control specialist, much skilled when compared to myself.'
Grey did not seemed surprised, such ability was to be expected from those who called themselves elites, even when there are only tier 1 mages.
'I will have to show my full ability to get breakthrough.'
Whilst he was still controlling the chains to breakthrough he casted a second tier 1 combination spell, [Giant Counter Spin Shurikens].
The combination spell was made up wind type spells and summoned multiple creations, which were giant Shurikens on top of each other spinning in different directions at super high speed.
"Be careful, that grey haired fellow is a double caster."
Grey was immediately spotted by the enemies.
Grey had developed [Giant Counter Spin Shurikens] spell to be used to breakthrough water type spells like the giant water serpents preventing his crimson fire chains from progressing.
He did not waste time and targeted the water serpents.
BOOM!! BOOM!! BOOM!! BOOM!!
There were big explosions as the water serpents we cut down by the spinning Shurikens, since there was no fire being used against water, there ware no large steam releases.
The water serpents broke down allowing the fire chains to be released, and Grey targeted who he believed was the control specialist.
"Let me deal with him."
As the chains made of fire were about to hit the targeted individual, a giant barrier materialised in front of him, saving hi from death by burning chains.
When he looked at the barrier, Grey was initially surprised, but he quickly got his bearings.
'I cannot believe Ruhen actually sent a Crystal magic genius to war.'
Grey internally commented as the white crystal barrier that stopped the fire chains was broke down.
'This might take a long time, these bunch of very rare people are known for their defence.'
The so called Crystal magic genius is similar to a person who has water affinity and can use Ice type magic, the Crystal genius has earth affinity and can use a high form of magic called Crystal magic.
Crystals can be anything from diamonds to rubies, but all of them are from the earth, thus fall under Earth magic.
The reason these people are not well known is because they are very rare, even when compared to Ice type magic users.
They are mostly groomed to be protectors of cities and important installations because of the high defence of their magic in higher tiers.
BOOM! BOOM!
'Damn you grey hair.'
Thought the man as he casted [Multiple Crystal Lances] at Grey when he had the chance, because as Grey could double cast, he always forced the man to go on the defensive.
That meant he could only attack in very low frequencies, as compared to Grey.
Which could mean that the battle was not going anywhere.
'At this point, I really wish I had darkness affinity, the corrosion would not be stopped by the crystals.'
That was true, darkness worked very well against earth type magic due to its corrosive properties.
Grey turned to observe Bon a few metres away, he had his hands full trying to fight a light affinity mage.
'I guess I will have to deal with this myself, a few seconds ago he used a special prism to disperse my light. I have to force him to do that again.'
Grey immediately started to accumulate light type mana, which he made sure that the enemy mage saw and felt.
Grey immediately casted tier 1 combination Killer spell, [Focused Point Laser Cannon] at the man who immediately felt his intuition screaming at him.
This made instinctively cast one of his strongest defensive spells, tier 1 combination spell, [Crystal Domination], which summoned a giant white crystal dome around him as protection.
When Grey's [Focused Point Laser Cannon] hit the crystal dome it completely dispersed.
"FUU."
The man inside the dome sighed in relief, if that spell hit him one, he was dead.
"Eh…?"
Just as he was about to say something, he felt prompted to look at his chest.
A small light was coming out from his chest, and it continuously became larger until a large amount of light came out of his chest.
The light stopped after a few seconds and with it a large hole was made in that man's chest.
'I am glad I still remember the high school physics course on optics.'
When the laser hit the dome and dispersed, the light actually broke down into many parts.
The parts reflected and refracted inside the dome until they recombined at the back of the dome into a focused laser shot which surprisingly hit the man from behind.
Grey was thinking about this weakness of Crystal magic as he re-joined his team, Bon was also back and it looked like he had trumped the light affinity mage.
"SCATTER!!!"
Before Grey could think much about what had had happened with the crystal user, Bon shouted at the top of his lungs.
BOOOOMM!!!
"Argh!!!"
Grey did not think much when he heard Bon, he used his fastest running speed and casted [Light Flash] to get away.
Immediately after that, the place where his team was located, exploded in black fire.
Grey could see two corpses there, he was not sure who they were as they were burnt beyond recognition.
"I guess I missed the genius, I will have to try again."
When he heard that voice, Grey only felt dread.
