Chereads / The Magic Rings / Chapter 73 - Chapter 73

Chapter 73 - Chapter 73

Grey turned to see the person who was giving him dread just by their voice, the person was a beautiful woman who seemed to be in her twenties with yellow blond hair with deep green eyes.

The woman was 1.68 metres in height, in this chaotic battle, Grey could feel where the largest amount of threat came from, and it was from her.

The main reason he was sure is that her deep green eyes were directly staring at him, like they were looking at a Prey.

"Young man don't think of running, you should just let me kill you."

The woman said in a cool voice, it sounded like she was asking for Grey to go on a date or something casual, not a death threat.

Grey did not say anything, he looked around, he could see Sharon who was caring Ilse who seemed severely injured. Sharon also seemed injured, but it seemed worse for Ilse.

'Mountain and I are light element users, thus we were able to escape. Mountain must have carried Louis as she escaped, thus she too was caught up in the explosion.'

Grey could see Alice on the battlefield floor writhing in pain, there were severe burns on her body.

'She could have easily escaped with her lightning, but I guessing she hesitated, and got caught up in the explosion.'

Grey turned back to the burnt corpses in their previous position.

'Then those two must be them.'

Grey did not feel sad about their deaths, he had been killing people around the battlefield, he just considered them a statistic.

Grey had observed the situation and figured the best outcome is to escape from this tiger in the form of human female.

'The enemy seems to be an elite tier 2 mage.'

"Young man I just told you don't think about escaping... Hah it always happens like this."

The woman could see through Grey's thoughts as he observed an escape route.

Grey turned to look at Sharon who was still running with Ilse on top of her in a piggy back ride.

Grey did not say anything to the woman, he immediately started to gather mana discretely as possible.

"Huh… Are you still going to try and run after I warned you not to?"

When the woman felt the mana, Grey was already glowing as he casted tier 1 combination Killer spell, [Flouting Variable Rocket].

As the spell was launched Grey had bursts of light coming from his back, which seemed like rockets were attached on his back.

Importantly, Grey was also a metre up in the air, he seemed to be standing on a cloud.

"Damn! Do tier 1 mages fly these days?"

The woman was somewhat surprised, as she voiced her surprise.

"I guess he really is a genius, I have never seen such a spell."

BOOM!!

That was the sound of Grey launching himself away from the woman in high speed.

"Damn that fellow is sure is fast."

The woman did not seemed disturbed as she saw Grey with moving away in high speed, she was very nonchalant about the whole situation

"It will take some chasing to kill him… For now let's turn to this one."

As she said that the woman turned to Alice who was still writhing in pain.

Alice could feel the dread as she felt the woman approaching.

The most interesting thing about the green eyed woman was that no person seemed to observe her in the chaotic battle, she seemed like an invisible ghost in the battlefield.

"Ah… What do we have here? One of Arin's cannon fodder mages."

When Alice saw her would be killer, the girl eyes were practically begging for mercy.

"Please… Don't kill me… I not a genius… It was Grey…"

Alice could not talk properly due to pain, but she was practically betraying everyone else for her life.

"So that is his name, the name it very apt considering his hair colour."

"He… Is the gen… Genius… You don't have to…Huh?"

Alice was surprised when she saw a black fire sword which had gone through her heart.

"Why…?"

Alice asked in tears, and thus the last of the civilian mages from FOB number 03 died.

A lot of thoughts were running in Grey's mind as he progressed in the battle whilst dodging other mages and regular humans.

The fact that the combination spell made him stand out in the battlefield made every person see this tier 1 mage flouting in the air moving in high speed, seemingly running away from someone chasing him.

'This feeling of being hunted has not abated, she must still be chasing me.'

Grey observed his surroundings.

'And how did we not spot her until her attack was right on top of us, was that a concealment type spell?'

"Damn it!"

BOOM!

Grey dodged an attack from his left, the female was chasing him at high speed and she was also firing off spells at him trying to get him to stop.

'She can double cast as well.'

Grey commented as he could see she was using a movement type spell was attacking him with other spells.

Grey responded to her attacks by trying to use spells that would slow her down.

BOOM!!!

"Argh…"

Grey was blown up by an explosion that had targeted him, he could only dodge and put up his best shield.

"Damn this person."

Grey did not stop to duke it out with the tier 2 mage, he continued running.

Grey knew that from what he could see from her elements that she had used against him, the only one with some speed was the fire element, the elements of water and darkness were not fast.

From his observation, only he could see her, it seemed that she was allowing him to do. The rest o the people only saw Grey running away from someone.

The woman was not using tier 2 combination spells to catch up to Grey, she was only using normal tier 2 spells to try and chase him.

'Maybe using combination spells will mess with her concealment.'

The chase continued for a few minutes.

"Hah… This young man can sure run. Those spells of his are really special, it makes me want to capture and torture those spells from him then kill him. Then I guess it's time to get serious."

Grey looked behind himself and felt that the threat had increased significantly.

Grey looked in shock as multiple giant black suns crashed all around him trying to entrap him.

BOOOOM! BOOOM! BOOM!

'She can use combination spells now? She was making me believe that I had some hope, she really is a bad woman.'

Grey looked around hoping someone could see her as well, and was disappointed to find that people were focused on their own battle in this chaotic battlefield.

'The only thing that I can guess is that this woman has a really a special Magic Rings, they mostly focus on concealment. I might have again underestimated this world.'

Grey casted tier 1 combination spell, [Triple Encased Light Cubes], three cubes encased Grey inside as the black suns exploded around him.

The first cube was immediately destroyed by the black suns, the second cube held out for a few seconds before it was destroyed and the last cube only had cracks.

Grey looked all around him which was destroyed, with only him only surviving, he was sure there were secondary casualties from that spell.

Grey was looked in awe as he felt that those black suns were special.

"You actually survived that?"

The woman appeared in front of Grey a few metres away, her caution was on point.

'How I wish she was the over confident type.'

"Honestly I hoped that spell would have made you unconscious, then I would just pick you up and torture you for a while."

Grey felt his skin crawl when he say her green eyes that looked at him as a prey.

The thought of getting tortured did not seat well with Grey.

A few years ago Grey was an Otaku salary man, even with the training he got in the military, Grey was not a person who like to be put in pain.

"Tell me what you want."

Grey decided to talk to her.

"Oh, my job is simple, it is to roam the battlefield to kill off those which we feel are a big threat to our Ruhen whether at this point or in the future."

The woman paused for a second to caught her breath.

"And you young man, have risen to a high risk mage, I saw the way you killed the Crystal magic genius, and I knew I had to kill you."

She was very honest that it surprised Grey a little bit.

"Can I ask a question about your Magic Rings?"

"Oh… No you cannot, very top secret. Especially if by a small chance you escape, I would be in trouble when I go back. I have already given you enough information."

Sigh.

'I guess it's not going to happen like those novels, where the villain spills all the information. She only gave me information I could infer by myself.'

"Will you come nicely then?"

"No..."

"I figured."

BOOOM!!
