"In the formation, I will be in the front together with me will be recruits Katz and Hart. The elements that we have are the most defensive, that will make our formation a more defensive type."
Sheryl and Grant nodded their heads with looks of understanding, whilst Alice and Ross were also nodding.
"When we encounter the enemy team us three will focus on defensive spells to counter the offensive power that Lt Marion or recruits Gram and Meyer have. That does not mean you cannot use offensive magic but just focus on defending."
After explain the plan to Sheryl and Grant Percival turned to Alice and Ross.
"At the rear of the formation. It will be you two. You will be in charge of attacking an enemy and make them passive. Have you all understood the plan?"
"Yes Sir."
"Good"
Percival smiled as he saw how quickly these civilian recruits adapt.
'I guess it is to be expected from mages, even civilian ones.'
Now back to the present, June continuously used movement types spells to search for the position of Percival and his team. Behind her and now closer to the centre of the map Grey were also searching for Percival and his team using [Air Dome].
Percival's team did not have any scout, thus they were moving much slower having to spend energy to focus the awareness and use it as a sort of scouting method.
As the they were moving towards the centre, Percival picked up something at the edge of his awareness range.
'Damn she found us. Light type movement spells really live up to their fame.'
The civilian recruits could not pick up the presence that Percival picked up, their tier 1 awareness was much smaller.
"Get ready for combat!"
That totally caught them off guard. Thus the importance of a scout who can give a person a warning with plenty of time to respond.
"Katz and Hart, as we discussed! Whitlock and Nordeck you must prevent her from getting closer!"
A distance away from Percival and his team, June was observing their position with her awareness.
"Percival, I found you."
June said with a bright smile, that gave her a unique charm.
"Ah… I have to give those recruits a signal. I guess I will use this."
As she said those words she took off in the direction of Percival's team, as she was running there, she started to cast tier 1 combination spell, [Bright Inferno Missile].
What was summoned was a several metres imposing long rod made out concentrated of fire and light elements.
"Damn you June, how can you start with that, are you trying to traumatise the recruits!"
Percival was annoyed as he felt the mana and saw the casted spell, as Percival was on the front of their formation, he turned to look at his recruits and they had lost some colour in their faces.
'She is definitely trying to traumitise them isn't she?'
"Focus on water type spells to counter her hot type spells!"
With annoyed face, Percival started to cast tier 1 combination spell [Glacial Ice Barrier].
The temperature immediately dropped to very low numbers as a barrier made of ice materialised in front of Percival. The civilian recruits were very shocked when they saw their lieutenant cast an Ice type spell that they forgot to cast appropriate spells.
The ability to cast Ice type spells was a talent thing, thus this showed how much talented Percival was. Percival turned to look at the civilian recruits.
"You don't have time to cast combination spells, just use your normal spells."
Percival understood that the time they wasted whilst looking at him could have been used to cast combination spells against June's spell.
'I guess it's a learning lesson, but it might hurt a little.'
Sheryl casted a [Water Shield] spell whilst Grant casted an improved version of the same spell, [Large Water Shield].
There was some trepidation in the eyes of the two civilian recruits when the saw the spell they would going against. Even though the spells that they had just casted were their engraved spells in their tier 1 magic rings.
The time taken for the interaction between June and Percival's team took a small amount of time, such that immediately after June casted [Bright Inferno Missile], Grey and the rest from the military academy saw it and felt the mana from it.
"That is the signal. Movement type spells. Moving at the speed of the slowest member."
Grey immediately gave the order to move in the direction of the fight.
The military academy recruits immediately casted their movement type spells and shot out in high speeds to June's position. They were moving at Bon's fastest speed with his tier 1 spell, [Swift Fire Step].
"Bon you should get a movement increasing type of magic ring in tier 2. Your speed is too slow and the gap will increase when we reach tier 2."
Ilse said to Bon with a smile. Though Bon and Grey were not sure if she was giving serious advice or she was just mocking him. Sharon was smiling like Ilse seemly having the same thoughts.
The elements that Bon had were not the most fast, at least fire had moderate speed, but it could not compete with wind, light and lighting elements.
Ilse and Grey were using tier 1 spell [Wind Step] and Sharon was using tier 1 spell [Light Step]. Grey and Ilse were not using the maximum power of their spells, this was more so for Ilse who was using a light type spell.
The quartet quickly made their way to help their commanding officer.
The missile made of fire and light was very imposing, the same could be said for the barrier made of ice.
"Percival I was just saying hello."
June smiled bright as she launched the missile towards Percival and the civilian recruits, the missile shot out in a beam of light and was very fast.
The explosive and fast parts of the elements of light and fire made this combination spell very special. It did not take a long time for the spells to collide.
BOOM!
"Ahh!"
There was a release of steam and heat in all directions, trees and rocks were destroyed. Sheryl and Grant were on the floor crying in pain, the pain was created by the heat and shock waves created by the spell.
"Nordeck, Whitlock. Don't give her a chance to launch another attack!"
Immediately after there explosion was a [Thunder Lance] and [Miasma Ball] launched from the smoke towards June. This was done other to prevent June from firing another spell, because if she did Sheryl and Grant would be out of the game.
"HAHAHA…"
June laughed like a villain as she retreated, she could see that Percival did not want to leave the civilian recruits and she could not fight five people at the same time.
"Katz, Hart. We attack together."
"Yes… Sir"
The two were still feeling pain, this was more so for Sheryl who was very sheltered in her merchant family.
Percival did not want June to leave without any damage, he casted tier 1 spell [Shockwave Cannon] whilst Sheryl and Grant casted [Air Cannon] and [Large Water Lance] respectively.
The three spells barrelled towards the retreating June.
"Don't underestimate me Percival!"
Not wanting to fight five people did not mean she was a push over, and to make them see that she casted tier 1 combination spell [Plasma Bomb].
As could be expected of a bomb type spell, when it collided with the three spells, a big explosion of fire and lightning happened. The area in a several metre diameter space was completely erased of its contents.
"Tsk. This monster. You still have time to cast a combination spell in that situation?"
Percival was really annoyed when dealing with June.
"Sir, was that spell under powered?"
Alice asked with a pale face.
"Yes it was. Lt Marion is considered a casting genius, most of her spells have been highly optimised by herself so they could have such power and together with her magic rings the power is very high."
"Sir we will not die by those types of spells?"
Alice kept asking with a pale face, trying to make sure her life was not in danger. From her knowledge, tier 1 spells are not supposed to be that powerful.
"No, at most you would lose a limb or two."
The faces of the civilian recruits were completely pale as they heard Percival talk about them losing their legs and arms from this spar.
'Damn, I forgot who I am dealing with.'
Thought Percival as he could still feel June retreating with his awareness.
