Chapter 43 - The Beast Queen

Gora

The man rushed out of the trees into our little clearing. He had a massive grin on his admittedly handsome face. His brown eyes seemed to tear up just a little as he focused only on me. ( Who the hell is this jackass.) I thought as this naked man eyed me creepily. The man's slim muscular body was bare for all to see. He didn't even have a loincloth, meaning we all had a clear view of his manhood. I had covered young Leafy's eyes, but I was sure she had gotten an eye full. Still, he was a layer five alpha, so I needed to be on my guard. Although there wasn't much I would be able to do with my injuries and the minuscule amount of mana I had left.

"Master, do you know this.. man? Frons asked me with her sword at the ready. I could tell she wanted to giggle. I was shocked at how calm she was at this time. The tiger to seem to relax as it sat back down. ( The hell is going on?) I thought as I examined the man again. The man must be a demon-beast, judging by the tail and the pointy ears. I also spotted short black fur covering parts of his exposed skin.

"CANIS!?" I yelled in utter shock. I figured the hound was close to evolving, but I could have sworn he chose to become a mythical creature. (Why is he a demon beast?) I wondered as I starred at my pet Jackal. Canis nodded his head as he walked closer to use before taking another step, however. Frons was on his blade at the beast throat.

"Did you forget our conversation mutt?" Frons said. I looked to Leafy, who just shrugged at me. Warr ignores us all, not even bothering to move. I figured I let it play out. I doubted Frons would kill Canis, and if she tried, I could stop her. Frons had told me how to control my guardian beast. Although I hoped I wouldn't, I have to resort to such a thing. Well, at least not to Frons. The big cat was another story, though.

I watched as Canis glared at Frons but didn't move. Then the hound looked to me before dropping to one knee. Frons back away, seeming impressed with herself. Canis paid her no mind as he raised his head to look at me.

"Master, I wish to be your guardian. No! I wish to serve you until I draw my last breath." Canis said using telepathy. I could tell the newly demon beast meant every word. I looked at my companion since I reached the beast forest.

"Then I accept you, Canis as my guardian from now until our last day." As a familiar black glow reaches out to Canis, I said, covering him with my aura. The foreign energy found its way inside my soul core. This one felt overjoyed, and I could tell it was because Canis had become a guardian. A Jackals.

"Master, you have made me the happiest hound ever to walk this earth. Except for Anui, the first hell hound, he was able to serve the God of chaos." Canis said as he stood. The man began to move but paused to look at Frons. The woman turned away from Canis, clarifying that she didn't care about him anymore. See, the woman wasn't going to make a move. Canis ran to me, dropping inches from me. I turned away quickly as the hound was still rather naked.

"Is master not pleased with my appearance?" Canis asked in a sad tone. I shook my head as I summoned some plain shorts out of my storage ring. They wouldn't fit him, but they would least cover him enough for me to talk to him. I couldn't take the man seriously in his birthday suit.

I told Canis to put them on, and as I expected, they didn't fit all that well. The man looked as if he was wearing woman panties. I had to hold in my laughter but found it challenging. On the other hand, Frons didn't hide her laughter as she was to roll on the ground laughing. Canis looked as if he wanted to strangle the spider monkey but stopped himself. He looked as if he had just remembered something important.

"Princess, I have something for you." Canis said as he handed me a plain silver ring. I gasped in surprise as I released what the ring was. ( Where the hell did he get a storage ring) I wondered. Canis explained, telling me the story of Jeny Red. A cloaked woman claiming to be my friend gave a ring to Canis. I had so many questions about this "Jeny Red". I didn't have any friends in the human kingdom. I didn't even know any humans as Gora.

( I guess I have to see what's in the ring.) I thought as I looked at the examined ring. Canis said the woman could quickly kill him. So, I figured a person that powerful wouldn't resort to tricks. I poured some of my Ki into the ring, activating the ring. I decided to empty the contents on the ground.

Whoosh!

Clothes and shoes flew out of the ring, floating to the ground. There were elegant dresses and pants suits. But there was also jackets and coats. (What in the world?) I thought as I looked at all the clothes. I counted thirty pieces of clothes lying on the ground. Under the clothing were a few weapons, two daggers and a sword. The daggers weren't anything special, just tiny knives with dark brown handles. The sword was just a plain long sword with no discerning features. I wondered who this benefactor was when Frons shook me from my thoughts.

"Master, what is this?" Frons asked, holding up a letter. The letter had a red seal with a three-headed serpent on it. ( The royal seal?) I thought as I mimed for Frons to hand it over. once the letter was in my hand, I quickly broke the seal and read its contents.

Letter:

From Mog.

Hello, my dear Gora. I hope this letter reaches you well. I really hope you actually get this letter. I haven't reached out to my contacts in a long time, so this is a shot in the dark. I'm sorry I couldn't reach out earlier. There are too many eyes watching me right now. I wish I could be there to hug and kiss you, but I can't.

It's been a little bit over a year now, and I've missed you every day. There isn't a time were that you haven't crossed my mind. I want to be with you now, but this letter and these gifts are all I can do for now. I've been instructed not to interfere with your trial. However, it saddens me that I can't be with you right now, but I feel as though it's for the best. You are much safer in a forest full of beasts than at court. I hate to admit it, but your father may have been right to send you away.

Now you can live your life in any way you want. I know you were never truly happy with your life here. That's fine. I understand how suffocating it can be back here.

Your mother would be happy though she was a wild child herself. You remind me so much of Nova. She was going on a crazy adventure. I think that's where your father got it from. It took your old man so many years to court your free-spirited mother. I wish you could have seen how many times Gorro got rejected. I still laugh when I think about your mother must have turned him down a million times.

Nova would be proud of the woman you are becoming. So, live your life to the fullest. Explore everything and take risks. Just not too many risks. I don't know what you have planned for your future, but I know it will be bright. Even if you choose not to come back, I would understand as long as you are happy, I'm happy. Even if that means I won't get to see you ever again. I will still love you no matter what you choose.

BUT!

If you choose to return to the demon kingdom, you must be ready to sit on the throne. Because the second you step foot into demon lands again, You will be in real danger. You may think the forest is full of vicious animals, but it is far worse here.

If you decide to come home, you will need to get much stronger. You also need powerful allies. I'm trying my best here to muster a force that will be willing to follow you. I can't promise much, but I will do my very best for you. I see that you have already started gathering comrades, but you will need more. Gather as many strong beasts as you can. You'll be the ruler of the beast. How does that sound? It's a little cheesy, but I liked it.

I've gifted you a few pairs of clothes to match your recent growth spurt. There are also a few coats because the mountain can get cold this time of year. The weapons aren't anything special, but I figured you knew companies could use them. I also made sure to ask for a few treats as I can imagine how much you miss the food back home.

Well, I have to go now. I wish I could send more, but I'm already breaking the rules by sending you this much. If you choose to come home, I will be waiting for you, my Queen. Although these old demons doubt your abilities, I know you are the rightful ruler of Esha.

Love Mog.

Tears dripped from my eyes onto the letter as I read it over again. The letter smelled of Mog, and I found myself lost in my memories. Memoreis of me and Mog. I missed the maid so much it hurts. Judge by the letter. Mog had been watching over me somehow. I found myself looking out into the forest to see if I could find her. I imaged the woman watching in the shadows, but I knew she wasn't close. As many close calls I had in the past month. I found it hard to believe that Mog was only inches away watching.

(The woman would have crushed the tiger and the ape if she saw what they did to me.) I thought as I looked back at the letter. I figured Mog had a spy. Whoever it was, was good at hiding from me. A part of me was happy to know someone was out there thinking about me.

"Master, are you...Okay?" Frons asked as she wiped away some of my tears. I assured everyone that I was okay. But I was still deep in thought. Mogs words were dancing in my mind. (What do I do?) I thought as I turned the letter over in my hand, searching for anything I missed. Did I really want to go back? I mean, I missed Mog and my father, but I wasn't welcome there. At least not by any of the nobles. Did I really want to start a civil war just to go home?

(What if I didn't have to be Queen?) I wondered as the beginning of a plan started to form in my mind. I need to become less threatening to my sibling and the other nobles. But that won't happen if they think I desire the throne. So what if I just get another throne, another kingdom entirely. I will be safe with the backings of my nation. Plus, I wouldn't need to be the next demon king because I'll already be a Queen of my own country.

"Princess, what are you thinking about?" Canis asked as he stared at me curiously. Frons and her sister also patiently waited for me to speak.

"How does Beast Queen sound to you guys?" I asked as I began to come up with a plan. ( Just wait for me a little longer, Mog. I'll be coming to see you soon.

Anui: { a New E} One of the first hell hounds.
