Natasha opened her eyes and closed them again. She turned around to face away from the right and her hands felt the strong chest of the man next to her. She immediately opened her eyes and looked at him. His eyes were closed and she wondered whether he was actually sleeping yet the sun was up. It was rare for him to sleep till the sun rise. Nevertheless, she enjoyed his very handsome face. It was of a prince charming; her prince charming.
"Are you going to keep staring at me?" Brandon said in his deep sleepy voice. "What is it?"
"Are you not late for work?" Natasha asked curiously. The man opened his left eye to look at the woman on his left. Then he turned around and faced her with his whole body.
"Are you sure you are not happy to see me here when you wake up?" He joked then opened his eyes.
"I am." Natasha said honestly. Then she blushed at how he looked at her. "Stop looking at me like that." Brandon looked at her blushing and felt a lot of warmth in his heart. He did not stop. "I am moving out today. I cannot stay here. It is not right. I shall be going back to my apartment later on today. Then I go back to work." Brandon's warm face became less warm.
"Why is it not right?"
"Because we are not…" Natasha stopped and looked away from the man. "Married." Brandon sighed and got on top of her. He smiled sweetly at her nervousness.
"Are you proposing to me, Ms. Claire?"
"No. Not at all." She defended herself trying to free herself from the man who had pinned her. "I am just saying it is not right for an unmarried couple to stay together under the same roof."
"So does that mean we are officially a couple now?" Brandon asked and rubbed his nose with hers. She blushed and looked away.
"What do you think?" She retorted. Brandon smiled and made her face him.
"Natasha, will you do me the honor of being my lady?" Brandon asked. Natasha looked at him and wondered how he read her mind. He smiled at her and waited anxiously. She did not reply and looked at the sky through the balcony. She realized she was not in her room and she blushed even more. "If you do not say yes, we shall stay in bed the whole day until you do. Or at least I convince you and you are tired enough to say yes."
"You are black mailing me?" Natasha snapped and looked at him. Brandon nodded and smiled. "You don't have to do that. I was not planning to say no." She said and her voice became sad.
"What is it?" He asked concerned. He let go of her and sat up. She sat up after him and let the quilt cover her chest, exposing her flawless bare back. Brandon swallowed hard.
"Bran, you and I, we are from very different back grounds. Do you think it will work?" She asked and turned around to look at him. He quickly diverted his eyes from her back to her face before she could figure out what he was thinking.
"Tasha, despite knowing that, I still chose you. Don't you doubt it. If anyone messes with you, I shall personally cut their tongue out and burn their fingers." He said then pulled her towards him. "For now, I am thirsty…" He said and looked at her seductively.
"Let me go get you water." She said innocently as she tried to free herself. He pulled her back and the quilt dropped exposing her bare chest. She noticed the dangerous flash across his eyes and she knew what was coming next.
An hour later, the man let go of the begging woman. He had to for he remembered she was still unwell and he had tortured her for the whole night. As soon as he let her go, he took her to the shower and later had her take her medicine. She immediately turned around and slept. He smiled at the tired woman and kissed her forehead. His heart beat for her, he could feel it. He turned around and left.
"Watson, any work that need my attention send it to me via email. Handle all the rest. I shall be having my day off. Call me in case of anything urgent." Brandon said to the person at the end of the line as soon as he got out of the room.
Natasha woke up at noon and dragged her tired body downstairs for a meal. She was tired but hungrier. As soon as Mrs. Gilbert saw her come down the stairs, she knew the young mistress was tired. 'The boss should really take it easy on her.' She thought to herself and smiled. "Hello Ms. Claire." She greeted her then immediately corrected herself upon noticing her stare. "Natasha. Let me warm up your meal for you." Natasha nodded and walked down the stairs.
"And mine too." Brandon said from the top of the stairs and began to walk down behind her. Mrs. Gilbert nodded and walked to the kitchen. Brandon got to Natasha and lifted her like a princess and walked with her to the dining area.
"Put me down Brandon! I can walk by myself!" Natasha, who was caught off guard complained in his arms.
"Can you really?" Brandon said pretending to think. He put her down at the table.
"Yes. I can." Natasha said and took a sit. Brandon pretended to think again and turned her chair to face him. He smiled mischievously and looked deeper in to her eyes.
"Does that mean that I should work harder and increase my stamina to satisfy you and ensure you do not walk…" Natasha suddenly covered his mouth and looked behind him to Mrs. Gilbert who had just come in to prepare the table. Mrs. Gilbert ignored the new couple in town and went on to do her work.
"You are so annoying." She said half to herself. He smiled at her and sat down next to her. "You are not going to work?" She asked changing the topic.
"Watson will handle it."
"Why not you? What are you doing?"
"I am looking over my sick woman." Brandon said proudly and lifted her hand and kissed it. She blushed and looked at Mrs. Gilbert. Brandon noticed she was shy and smiled. "Mrs. Gilbert, Ms. Claire here is the lady of the house henceforth." Mrs. Gilbert nodded in return and Natasha looked at Brandon in surprise. "Get someone to assist in packing her things. She is going back to her house." He added and Mrs. Gilbert was even more confused. "Put them in her jeep. We shall use that one." Mrs. Gilbert nodded again and left the couple.
"Why did you confuse her?" Natasha asked and took a sip of the milk set before her.
"Have you always had anemia?" Brandon suddenly asked.
"Yes. Since I was born. Why did you confuse her?" Natasha went on.
"I did not. I told her the truth. You are indeed moving out. And you are indeed the lady of the house. Just because you don't live here, it does not mean you are not the lady of the house." Brandon said and took a sip of juice. Natasha opened her mouth to complain but she realized he had a point. "Tasha, the couple who saved you, I think we should go thank them." Brandon said after a while. "How about today since both of us are free?"
"Yes, we should. But today I am moving out." She replied.
"You did not participate in moving in, so why should you participate in moving out?" Brandon said and took another sip. Again, he had a point.
"Okay." She agreed. Brandon was relieved. His plan was going on accordingly.
The private helicopter landed in the Owen mansion by three in the afternoon. Natasha was nervous to meet the couple and she did not know why. Brandon had to hold her trembling hands for the better part of the flight. He had already informed the old couple he would be coming and had asked them not to inform their daughter. He did not want any unnecessary drama. The Owen couple received them as soon as they got to the door entrance.
"Mr. and Mrs. Owen, please meet Mrs. Natasha Claire, she is the girl who you were gracious enough to save in BB City. We have come here to express our gratitude." Brandon introduced them as soon as they sat down.
"Mr. and Mrs. Owen, I am really grateful for what you have done for me. I have had the problem since birth and it never bothered me as much as recently. If it were not for you…" Natasha said and paused to hold her emotions in place.
"It is all well my dear. You are such a nice girl. Brandon came here to personally ask us and we love him like a son so we agreed. We are happy to see it was worth it." Isabella spoke first as her husband nodded in approval. Natasha looked at Brandon and smiled. She was touched. "Who in your family has this problem? Your mother?"
"No. I am the only one. She says I was born with it." Natasha answered.
"Is it hereditary?" Moses asked.
"Not that I know of. I am the first in my family. Bad luck." She joked and sipped the tea before her. Brandon exchanged curious looks with the old couple. "The hospital I was born in confirmed it as soon as I was born." Natasha added.
"What hospital was that? It sounds very prestigious." Moses asked and took a cup of tea to hide his true intention.
"One in the coast, I think it is the True Miracle Hospital." Natasha answered and took a sip of tea. Isabella looked at Brandon.
"Such a coincidence, my daughter was also born there. She is as old as you." Isabella said and took a sip of tea. Brandon hoped Natasha did not ask farther.
"What a coincidence. Where is she? She sounds like a nice person." Natasha asked and looked at the old couple who looked at Brandon.
"She is abroad for business." Brandon interrupted. Natasha nodded and sipped tea. "We shall leave you two to know each other, I have something to discuss with Mr. Owen, if I may." Brandon said politely. The women agreed and the men went out of the living room to the back side of the house. Brandon did not hesitate and pulled out a document from his inner coat pocket and handed it to Moses.
"I think it is about time we understand why you and your lovely wife are so different from your daughter." Brandon said and watched Moses look at the hospital blood results in uttermost shock. "And we should also understand why you and Ms. Claire share ninety-nine percent DNA."
