Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Precautions

"We.. We're not going to stay out here are we?" Stammering slightly, Roselyn surveyed the area all around nervously. "This is a rank S2BU zone, you know," she whispered softly, acting as if she was afraid her voice might cause the weeds in the distance to jump up and attack them.

"S2BU zone? What're those? I've never read of them before," Alex admitted curiously, as he nonchalantly began to strip down to just his chastity belt.

"Sucks to be you zones," Roselyn answered him, look all around paranoid. "It's not any sort of official designation, but it's a slang term the students use for places nobody wants to be forced to go to, or for tasks which nobody wants to be forced to do."

"This place is beyond deadly, you know," she warned softly.

"Grass kick your ass," Thorn told her, much like he'd stressed so vehemently to Alex before, nodding his head vigorously the whole time.

"I know the dangers," Alex assured them. "That's why this place is so profitable for us right now. Until I can sort out the problem with my cultivation, I'm utterly immune to the toxins on the grass." Flexing slightly, Alex tried to strike a heroic pose to show off how impressive he was, causing both Thorn and Roselyn to smirk in amusement with each other.

"Are you certain?" Trying not to laugh at her Lor-ady's antics, Roselyn was obviously skeptical.

"Yep," Alex assured her. "It's already been tried and tested."

"So what are we supposed to do during this time?" Pointing to herself and Thorn, Roselyn couldn't help asking. "It's not like we're going to be able to help you with harvesting or collecting at all," she pointed out honestly.

"Thorn smoosh rats!" Flexing in a much more impressive manner, Thorn showed off his massive muscles as he waved a large metal mace in his hands.

"That's a big part of it," Alex agreed. "I might can harvest the grass, but I'd have a hard time with the Silver Mercurial Rodents. If they pop up, I'm going to need you guys to deal with them," he informed Roselyn.

"On top of that," Alex added, "you guys will need to take turns with the chores for us. Hunting. Cooking. Guard duty. Doing the dishes. Since I'm going to be the one doing all the harvesting and gathering, you guys are going to have to deal with everything else," Alex smirked lightly.

"I don't think that'll be a problem for us," Roselyn assured him, as she started to set up the tent. "I'll happily do all the chores myself," she volunteered, "just so long as you keep yourself and that grass far away from me. That stuff can destroy cultivation, you know," she warned him, wrapping her arms around herself and shivering from the very thought.

"I know," Alex assured her. "Which is why you guys will need to stay completely away from me for the next twenty days. Make certain the food you fix for me is a fingerfood and leave it on a rock for me. Keep all my clothes for me; I'm just going to be a streaker for this time.

"Since we only have a single tent to sleep in," Alex told them both firmly, "it's mine. Stay away from it and I'll burn it before we leave. You guys can practice your arts and dig out a cave in the hillside or the cliff wall for yourselves. Just treat me like I've got the plague!"

"Brudder Boobz gotz da Grass-Ass sickness," Thorn nodded sagely. "Not getz near me!"

"I'm definitely not going to get anywhere near him either," Roselyn promised, shivering slightly.

"Just don't forget to keep me safe from any rodents that pop up," Alex reminded them both firmly!

"We won't," Roselyn promised. Glancing all about, she nodded happily to herself a few times before starting to walk around and collect all the rocks in sight. "Come along Thorn," she called out, laughing lightly. "This seems like a perfect time to be practicing our throwing skills!"

Sighing slightly, all Alex could do is swallow his griping as he slowly got down and wormed his way carefully back to the edge of the field. Honestly, he couldn't blame Roselyn for her caution. Most people would've abandoned him completely once he told them he was going to be staying for almost three whole weeks.

Just by being here, Roselyn and Thorn was already doing more than enough to show their loyalty to him!
