In a rural town in a rural state. There lived a young boy in a rural community commonly and simply known as 'the junkyard.' And currently, he was more or less, running for his life. He was being chased by a group of teenagers within the ages of 14 to 16 were chasing after him across the streets filled with metallic junk. Wastes dropped by the government and large industries that specialized in the making of Androids and mechanics. He was a lot faster, so he was leaving them in the dust.
"Stop there, motherf*cker!" One of the chasers shouted. The young kid did not stop but shouted back in response as he ran.
"No, I won't, motherf*cker."
He jumped up, grabbed hold of a rusted mechanical arm and pulled himself up til he was standing on it and then jumped from the arm over a wired fence, flipped in the air and landed on all fours on a large metallic box. He then turned around to watch his chasers attempt and fail.
The one in front was huge and muscular, for his age. He attempted what the kid did. He jumped up, grabbed the mechanical arm, pulled himself up till he was standing on the arm and then the arm gave way. He dropped directly on his fellows. They all wailed in pain from the impact.
"Arrrrgh!!!!"
"Goddammit!"
"My f*cking arm is f*cking broken!!"
"Somebody help me!"
"I can't feel my legs! I CAN'T FEEL MY LEGS!!!"
"Oh......my precious d*ck!"
"Goddammit, Dave! One of these days, I'mma get you and I'mma fuck you up!" The huge one shouted.
"Go f*ck yourself, you overgrown creation of drugs, muscles and p*ssies!" The kid shouted back and walked away happily while they writhed in pain.
The young kid, Dave was about to clock thirteen. He had never seen his parents and was abandoned in an orphanage that did not care about anyone. It was sent allowances by the government every month for the orphans' upkeep but no one knows where all that money goes. The orphans were miserable and died frequently, so Dave ran away from there, preferring not to die from starvation. He had a photograph of his parents and his baby self with him always. He was bullied by everyone around him but kept his hopes high that his parents would come back for him. After all, no parents would abandon their children and want to be recognized. He decided that he would do everything he could to survive in the meantime and so he joined an orphanage that had an organization of scavengers. They were taught which parts were useful among the large mass of junk found in the surroundings and how much they cost. He had an eye for this kinds of thing and soon, several groups began to invite him, promising him protection and the likes but what they really wanted was the lion share of his dividends.
Dave knew that. So, he rejected their offers. This made all the groups angry and they began to victimize him, wanting to break him, both body and spirit. He endured all of it until recently when a group had mocked his parents. They had unknowingly touched his reverse scale. He hit their leader and it was this group that had chased him around the streets.
Dave did not bother about them too much though. He knew he would soon be gone. He wanted to see the world. He wanted to join in the war and fight and win medals like he frequently saw in the papers. He wanted to ride those amazing heavy duty machines that were frequently on the cover of magazines and billboards usually with their famed pilots posing beside them. 'The mechanics', as they were commonly called were usually portrayed as heroes, bravely fighting against Earth's greatest enemies of all time, the 'Rokkas', and many kids, rich or poor, wanted to attend the famed schools that taught young people how to operate the machines known as Mechs.
And so was his dream. He had applied for free admission into the school using orphanage's name as orphans were given free admittance once they clocked thirteen. He had almost clocked thirteen and coincidentally, schools were resuming the same day. Tomorrow was his birthday and he has hyped for it.
He prepared for school and waited for the day to arrive. What he did not know was that his life was about to change drastically. Whether it was for good or for bad was yet to be determined.
