Chapter 46 - Chapter Forty Six: Imprisoned

Jack tried to clear his mind as best as he could, feeling Elaine place her hand on his head and seeing her do the same to Noelle's head next to him. They both sat on the ground in front of the elf, only one thing left to do; Elaine needed to somehow take Noelle's memory of the capitol of the Twiverse Kingdom, Latris city, and give it to him so that he could teleport there instantly. This was beyond his comprehension, so he simply waited with his eyes closed, hoping that it was easier than it sounded. The emperor agreed with their plea, and now they just needed to convince the Twiverse Kingdom of the same thing.

"I don't have any experience with this, so I do not know what to expect. You might get flashes of each others memories, so I apologize if either of you see anything unpleasant."

Jack said nothing, seeing that as a small price to pay. Noelle chuckled, glancing over at him with amusement dancing in her orange eyes; it was still off for him to see, as he had just gotten used to the icy look she would always give him and the other vampires.

"Hope you don't see anything that could wound your virgin mind, vamp."

He grunted, surprised that she knew the term for a male vampire; it seemed Drake had been teaching her, and he wondered how much the dark elf knew about him without his knowledge. He was pulled from his thoughts as his hair suddenly stood on end, the air around him vibrating as Elaine began using her magic. His eyes grew wide as he saw her golden mana slowly envelop his head; he had seen it before, but never this close, and it was like a golden liquid with a mind of its own, and it was beautiful to behold.

He heard Noelle gasp, and he nearly jumped himself when he felt memories being pulled to the front of his mind against his will, like an invisible hand just reached into his brain and snatched them up, putting them on display. He could see himself, panting and bleeding heavily out of his left arm, a vampire facing him with a black liquid covering most of his body, only his eyes peering out from the black liquid that Jack now called his own. Jack was injured, yet in his memory he felt himself smile widely, rushing towards the vampire without a second thought. He used to always fight like this, without thought or hesitation, and it was why he had as many scars as he did.

The memory suddenly shifted, and it turned into a memory that was foreign to him. He saw through Noelle's eyes as she laughed loudly, a tall dark elf placing his hands on her hips and leaning in for a kiss. The memory shifted again, and the memories kept going back and forth between his and hers, seeing him scream as he charged at his father, seeing her crying as a dark elf dragged her away from a burning city. This went on until suddenly it cleared up, an image of a busy market place showing up and burning itself into his memory, as if it was his own.

The spell suddenly ended, all three of them panting as Elaine fell onto her rear, appearing to have seen everything they did. The rest of the group looked at them with concerned expressions, Noelle slowly standing up and laughing softly to herself as she looked over at Jack.

"Out of every memory to see, you just had to see my first kiss. I recognize that ability, that eerie black substance you use; was that really you? It seemed like a completely different vampire."

"I am curious about that as well." Elaine said, still catching her breath. "Was that the original owner of that ability?"

Jack nodded, standing up and wiping the sweat off of his brow.

"That was my first target as a Night Stalker, and my father made sure that it was me that they asked. I...was different back then, more eager to fight. I rarely cared about my own health, and got injured quite often as I threw myself at my enemy over and over again."

He rubbed his forehead, the image of the capitol city still clear in his mind.

"It worked in the end; I can see the memory of the market place as if I had been there myself."

He looked at each of them, stopping on Elaine as she grabbed his hand and placed a ring in it, puzzling him.

"Once the queen agrees to discuss the cease fire, put this ring on. If the spell works right, I will be able to speak with her through the ring, as if I was there myself."

Jack blinked stupidly, looking from the ring to the elf before adding it to his pouch, next to a letter written by the emperor himself and closed with his royal seal.

"Speak...through the ring? Is there anything you can't do?"

She giggled, standing on her tip toes and kissing his cheek before backing away. He felt the heat rise to his face and quickly put his helmet on, seeing her blush as well as he waved at all of them, ready to leave on his own for the first time in nearly half a year. He saw Drake give him a thumbs up with that usual stupid grin on his face, Midnight simply nodded, and Jerry smirked and gestured for him to hurry up.

"I hope this goes as well with the queen as it did with the emperor." He said, closing his eyes and teleporting. He was suddenly in the sunlight, surrounded by people and noise as someone screamed and fell to the ground. Jack opened his eyes, seeing that he had appeared in the middle of the market, and had everyone staring at the vampire that had suddenly appeared out of thin air. He frowned beneath his helmet, realizing that they should have put some more thought into where and when he should teleport, when the human that screamed got up and sprinted away, casting a terrified look of disbelief back at him.

Before he could say anything, everyone else suddenly moved away from him, the sound of armor rustling hitting his ears as he saw guards run towards him, surrounding him quickly with their swords pointed at him. He slowly raised his arms, knowing that it would look bad if he suddenly attacked after appearing there without any word sent ahead of him.

When they saw him surrender they relaxed, keeping an eye on him as they took his sword off of him and took him towards the castle. He kept his arms raised, glad that they let him keep his helmet on.

"I know this looks bad, but I need to speak with the queen as soon as possible. It is urgant, and if you look in my pouch, you will find a letter with the royal seal of Emperor Killihan."

They ignored him, staying silent as they got closer to the castle, which was tall and grand, made with dark blue stones that seemed to absorb the sunlight. The common people took one look at him and scurried out of the way, avoiding him like the plague and puzzling him. They took him around the side of the castle, an iron gate being raised as he was roughly pushed inside it, being led into the castle. It was then that he realized he was being taken to the dungeon, and there they stripped him of his armor and everything else besides his pants, tossing him into a cell and locking it behind him.

He sighed in frustration, wishing they would have listened to him. They did not have the time to wait for the guards to make up their minds, and he debated whether he should simply break out and go to the queen himself.

He sat down against the cold stone wall, getting as comfortable as he could. If he did that, he ruined any chance of the queen listening to what they had to say. He would simply wait and follow along with whatever they asked until they took him to meet the queen. It should only be a few days at the most, and they will let him out and take him to her without any more problem.

He had no idea how wrong he was.
