Chapter 19 - *ANTANTULLA APPAM*

*ANTANTULLA APPAM*

*NOVEMBER 05 FRIDAY 2021*

*SMOKING FLAX*

*A bruised reed He will not break,And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. (Isaiah 42:3)*

*Our Lord will never quench a smoking flax, but will rather make it burn bright. In the light of the above verse, just examine your life. Maybe, you were burning bright for the Lord in the past and may have given light to many around you. Maybe you were filled with the first love and have done mighty deeds for God.*

*Maybe you have now lost all your enthusiasm because of various trials in your life. Maybe you have lost the fervour in your prayer life, and burning dimly. The Lord is gracious today to turn that situation around and is keen to rekindle the fire and gives a promise to you that He will never quench the smoking flax.*

*There could be many reasons for a lamp to be dim. Firstly, it is because of lack of oil. When you are found wanting in the fullness of the Holy Spirit in your daily life, it will result in the dimming of your inner spiritual lamp. Sometimes, the lamp will lose its brightness, if the wick is not long enough to be immersed in the oil, even when there is oil in the lamp. This is indicative of the lack of deep prayer to engage with the Lord and how it results in decay in living a holy life.*

*There is no greater agony than to lose your holiness and your prayer life. It is due to this; you tend to lose the excellent blessings from heaven.*

*Prophet Jeremiah could not bear it when he saw the decay in the holiness of Israelites. He cried out in anguish: "How the gold has become dim! How changed the fine gold! The stones of the sanctuary are scattered At the head of every street. The precious sons of Zion, Valuable as fine gold, How they are regarded as clay pots, The work of the hands of the potter!" (Lamentations 4: 1, 2)*

*Once there is a decay in holy living, you lose the vision of your spiritual eyes. You become weary in your spiritual journey, when your spiritual eyes lose their brightness. King David laments: "My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies." (Psalm 6:7)*

*Dear children of God, our God is able to brighten and revive your spiritual life. The One who is able to brighten any person, will also brighten your dimness in spiritual life. Kindle your spiritual life and God will restore all the graces and establish you again.*

*Verse for further meditation: "The Lord make His face shine upon you,And be gracious to you" (Numbers 6:25)*
