[Chapter 3 recap-
"Why can't Diana attend the new patient?" asked Rose.
"Our new patient has a high class profile in the society" replied Amanda.
Rose still did not understand why she could attend the new patient and not Diana.
Amanda finally looked at her and said "We don't have enough caregivers who can actually take care of the patient instead of admiring his beauty. We can only trust you with him , plus he will be your last patient as a caregiver". Amanda smilingly said "Your internship will be getting over in two months and everybody is planning to appoint you here as psychologist".]
Rose didn't hide her happiness which showed on her face in the form of a wide smile. Her hard work finally paid back. In the back of her mind the memories of her balancing her studies and part time job flashed. Her aunt and uncle had enough money to pay her fees, the internship wasn't necessary for her but to gain experience and quicken the the process of training she took the job. She had been a full time caregiver since 10 months and just two months of her internship were left . 'This patient is going to be my last' she said to herself. She did not hate this job but she needed a break.
"Now go and check on Mr. Martin for the last time and do inform him about the replacement" directed Amanda.
She straight away walked into his room. "Good morning Mr. Martin" she greeted the old man.
A pleasant expression spread on his face. "Good morning. I thought you took a leave".
"No. I just left home a little late today" she said in a shy voice as she was embarrassed of her time management skills.
"Did you sleep well?" she asked.
Maverick Martin was one of the oldest patients of the hospital. He actually was not admitted but was found by Amanda. According to Amanda she found him when a man was attacked by him. She tried to cool him down and was successful in doing so. On asking his neighbors about him she got to know that he often got into such fights after his wife's death. 'The death must have been traumatic for him to handle' she thought and she took him to McDavin Psychiatric Hospital, the hospital in which she worked as a head nurse now. Rose did not know what else happened but in comparison to his past condition he was in a better position. The only thing which still had to be cured was insomnia.
"Yes. Last night I slept well" he smiled and replied.
Rose took a seat beside him and said "There is something important about which I need to talk to you"
"Go on" he said.
Letting out a small breathe she said "From now onwards Ms. Diana Cheney will be attending you. I have been replaced by her since I have to attend another patient."
The smile that she had while greeting him disappeared. She was waiting for his response. After one whole minute of silence the old man said "It would be a lie if I said that I won't miss you but as one of the oldest patients here, I have been attended by several nurses and they have been replaced by many others. So I have been a bit used to it" he smiled and continued " But there was a bond between us. You took care of me as if you are my daughter, a daughter I never really had. This is what I like about you the most, you are very affectionate towards others. You treat patients like your family" said the old man whose eyes wrinkled while smiling.
Rose smiled and said "I will be in touch". Maverick could notice the trembling voice as if she was holding back her tears. Before leaving the room Rose hugged him and said "I am glad that I got a chance to attend you".
It was past lunch hour when Rose and Diana were discussing about Mr. Martin's diet and routine before Amanda interrupted them by banging the door.
"Open the door" she shouted.
Rose keeping the files aside walked towards the door and opened it. Amanda walked towards her locker and took out some files.
"Would you like to see him ?" asked Amanda going through her files.
"See whom?" Rose asked.
"The new patient you will be attending from tomorrow" said Amanda.
Diana who was sitting all this while finally stood up and said "Okay I am tired of addressing him as new patient" walking closer to Amanda she asked "What should we address him as?"
Amanda gave out a mature smile and said "You can call him Mr. Swift".
'Swift' on hearing his last name Rose's expression dropped. This surname belonged to the boy who had hurt her years ago and played with her feelings. He was the cause of her misery, pain and tears. To conclude she was not fond of the new patient's last name.

"You did not tell me about his condition" said Rose while climbing up the stairs.
"His condition is really critical. Before three days his family called and informed us about his situation. They said that he was missing for two days and when he finally showed up and was all drunk . He violently destroyed the glass tabletop and as a result he injured his hand. On seeing his hand bleed his family members made an attempt of touching him but he ran and locked himself in a room and that is when they contacted us....]
