After a wait of roughly three months, Jacyn sat in his pod, ready for the company to open the servers for login and character creation. In the last week the company has released other basic information for the beta testers, including starting towns. After speaking to the ten guild members that made it in the tournament, they had decided that they would all start in the beginner's frontier town of Fhanithar.
As the clock ticks down, he runs another systems check, his eyes watching the screen as the tests come back good. Checking the time as he climbs in, he gives a nod as he murmurs to himself, "Two minutes to go." Leaning back in his seat, he presses a button, causing the door to slide closed and the seat to unfold from sitting position.
-----------------
As he enters the game, he finds himself on a stone platform with stars swirling around him. As he looks around, he hears a voice.
"Advanced creation."
Within a moment, a book appears floating before him. "Please choose your race." Looking at the book, he notices that instead of an entry for each race, there are categories instead. "Hmm, let's see... human is out.. I've played them too much, so let's see." He slowly begins to read through each race and their subraces, keeping in mind his preferences.
"So dwarves have benefits with what I like to do as my usual job, but elves have bonuses where my preferred weapon comes in. Let's see....." As he flips to the option for elves he begins to read through them.
Race: Elf
Subraces: High Elf, Moon Elf, Wood Elf, Wild Elf, Drow Elf, Deep Elf.|
"Hmm, deep elf, what's this..." Touching the option, an elf appears standing in the air with the information about them.
Deep Elf: Elves that live underground, not to be mistaken for Drow, these elves were saved by the dwarves during the events that shattered the world. Over time they began to love the dark depths and the hidden wonders. In partnership with the dwarven clan that they live with, they have created cities, holds and crafts that rival the marvels of the old world.
Favored weapons: Long sword, Short sword, dagger, light crossbows, hand crossbows.
Stat bonuses: +3 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, +3 Perception
Bonus starting abilities: Dark vision, One with the Night, Stone cunning, One handed Blade Mastery, Direction Sense
Starting Skills: Stealth|
"Hmm, they sound interesting... I wonder what these abilities do.
One with the Night - When in areas of low light, shadows, or darkness the user is harder to be found. Any seeking the user have a reduced chance of finding the user. (User gains a bonus to any stealth based skills.)
Stone Cunning (Upgradeable) - User has a 5*perception increase to find hidden doors, tunnels, or traps when underground.
One handed Blade Mastery - When using a one handed blade in combat, the user's attack and damage increases by 10%.
Direction Sense - No matter where the user is, the user intuitively knows where north is.|
'I wonder how that would work with a stealth user.' He chuckles to himself as he only ponders for a moment before making his selection.
"Randomize my avatar."
A mirror appears in front of him and within moments, a figure appears of an elf that stands roughly five foot six inches with an athletic build, angular dark gray eyes, deeply tanned skin, and long ebony hair. Turning from side to side, he nods as he looks at his avatar, before realizing that his hair hangs halfway down his back and the features make him look androgynous. Chuckling at the thought, he nods to himself.
"Finalize."
'Interesting, they don't have preset numbers or place as you go...' As he waited, he wondered how everyone else was doing.
A book suddenly appears, floating in front of him as the voice speaks again.
As he flips through the book, he looks at the different classes with their trees for upgrades and their starting Skills and abilities. 'I think on the beta forums, the devs said that using the randomize mode in advanced creation could leave us beta players a surprise.' Giving a nod he closes the town then crosses his arms.
A table appears in front of him with multiple items on it... Walking over to it, he begins to look things over, taking note of all the basics before stopping as he stares at the black weapon with runes imprinted on it.
Quickly he gathers the gear and equips the armor. Looking at the sword on the table he reaches out and picks it up. As he touches the hilt an alert pops up.
Do you wish to bind this weapon? Yes/No.|
Startled, Jacyn looks at the weapon on the table. 'A bound weapon at the start? That is interesting.. I wonder what it is, I'll take it and see.' Tapping the button for yes, the tingle grows stronger for a moment before he feels a slight prick on his hand, he tries to release the hilt. Unable to, he stares at the weapon as the runes on the blade glow with a dim silver light momentarily then the tingling stops and a scabbard appears, covering the blade.
Binding successful.|
Shaking his head, Jacyn places the sword on his hip then glances at the tome that is left. Picking it up, he opens it and looks at the front page. Seeing what's inside he grins. 'Runes, this is the second time I've seen something dealing with this. I'm going to have to look more into it.
"Simulation? What's this about a sim..." Cut off in the middle of speaking as flashes suddenly go through his mind as he begins to see flashes of his character's 'life'. Though it feels like hours, only a couple minutes go by before the information stops flowing. Finally able to focus his thoughts he looks at the virtual space that now looks like the inside of a smith's shop.
